  1. I doubt its more than 2800lbs. loaded. According to NADA your boat's dry weight is 1600 with the engine. So one set of the 2.25" x 10" drums would do it. I would also check to see if your trailer has the bracket that holds the backing plate already attached. If not you will need to take your axle out and have one welded on or buy a new axle. I would look into www.etrailer.com for parts and assemblies. They generally have the best prices.
  2. You would probably be safe with only adding brakes to 1 axle. How much does your boat weigh? Generally a 2.25" dexter setup will handle 3500 lbs.
  3. He did the same for me. I bought 2 vertical rod holders but not at the same time due to finances but gave me a discount for purchasing more than 1. Great guy and even better customer service.
  4. If you aren't planning on running the trailer in salt water just throw on some electric brakes. I replaced my surge style with electrics and haven't had an issue in 3 years. The only difference is the backing plate is galvanized and uses the piston at the tongue to apply pressure to the pads via lines. They don't recommend electrics to be submersed but the magnets are completely sealed and are easily replaced. They also allow you to use a standard brake controller which makes it a lot easier.
  5. There is schermerhorn landing. http://www.schermerhornharbor.com/shh/index.php?PageID=393 Seaway Slips http://www.seawayslips.com/cabins.htm Shangri la (not quite on the river) https://plus.google.com/109782774706108786772/about?gl=us&hl=en Duck Cove Cottages http://www.duckcovecottages.com/ I have only ever stayed at Shangri la (3 years as a seasonal resident) and schermerhorn landing as a kid. Both are nice and can accommodate around 6 people. I fish the Shangri la area all summer so if you need info on the area or would like to go out PM me and we can discuss the details.
  6. I have done the same it isn't worth it anymore. I have got boat number registrations and names but they didn't seem to care. I don't bother anymore.
  7. Cool I might have to give her a shot this year.
  8. PowerPro or big game 30lbs.
  9. On a spoon? I have fished walleye for a while and have never been able to get them on spoons.
  10. Was she spawned out already? Belly didn't look very big.
  11. We eat fish of every size whether it's perch, trout, salmon, and walleye about twice a week and the rest is venison except 1 night that is either pork or chicken. With all the preservatives, hormones, and whatever else they feed livestock that is in store bought meats eating those fish can't be much worse if not better.

    Cheek meat!

Haha Last year we had a running average of 8.6lbs. this year I am hoping to get it up into the 9-10lbs. range. Where I fish I usually manage some nice eyes. I want to beat my personal best of 12.7lbs. I have been working at it for 2 years but nothing has been able to beat it.
  13. No more than a 36" track and 3 burts. Mine are all permanent and not in a track. $189 is not a lot for a vertical quad rod holder the triples are $164. One of the burts trees are $245. Here is the site: http://greatlakesplaners.com/store/products.asp?cat=10&pg=2
  14. Are those the fixed shorter booms?
  15. In all the literature I read on the Uni-Trolls it states up to a 20 lbs. weight. Here is one of the documents I read through. http://www.cannondownriggers.com/uploadedFiles/Service/Product_Manuals/2013_Cannon_Downrigger_Specs.pdf

  17. AC Delcos. GM motors run best on those for some reason. But if you can't find them champions have been around for a while. Just make sure it is a resistor plug or it will interfere with your electronics. According to NAPA these should work. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Spark-Plug-Copper-Core/_/R-ASP25_0388754273
  18. On spoons it's important to run a good ball bearing swivel. Spoons can twist up the line pretty good.
  19. Go with 12lbs. at least.
  20. Looking pretty good now!
  21. That is a way better deal than what I got on my Pro-Line. I paid $1800 for my boat, trailer, and motor. I originally bought my boat on the trailer with a bad motor for $800. I bought my outboard for $1000 sight unseen. I have easily 5x the amount of money in electronics and gear into the boat. My autopilot and steering alone was $1800, expensive sport but wouldn't change for anything.
  22. Your boards seem like they are really far behind the boat. Were you running some hard pulling baits? Mine are usually no more than 10' behind the boat.
  23. I prefer the great lake planers vertical trees they allow you to swivel the whole tree so the rods face away from the boat. I find that having the rods perpendicular to the boat help keep more tension on the line when fish hit. This is especially important when walleye fishing because of the soft mouth those tricky critters have. Here is how I have my boat rigged, but this year I have a better mast. Those vertical rod holders work great they also have enough snuff to hold 2 or more dipsys per a side. FWIW we were running 10 lines that day for walleye. Here is a side view
  24. I used to run the 10lbs. fish weights but upgraded to the 16lbs. troutman weights for this season.
  25. Looks like it might be a little rough on Saturday but Sunday looks better. http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/bufMarineWeek.php#tabs
