  1. You can still get some parts for the OMC motors and lowers but they are becoming harder to come by. You're better off with a mercruiser outfit. The upper part of the loser units have a tendency to go bad because of water intrusion check all the fluids and like they said above run it for a long time on the muffs.
  2. They look like the atommik weights.
  3. I too run manuals, by the end of the summer my new member name will be Popeye! Lol I was hoping for responses like those. I generally don't fish over 130' because it's too far of a ride on the east end.
  4. I am planning on running a set of Harvey's (Troutman) 16lbs. downrigger weights and was wondering what some of your thoughts were on these weights or just 16lbs. weights in general. I am hoping to get my rigger lines under control this year I had 1 side cross last year and that was the end of my 10 lbs. weights for salmon fishing. Luckily I didn't loose any tackle but it was one hell of a rats nest and lost a nice fish because of it.
  5. The things I would do are change impeller, change oil, plugs, carb rebuild, and replace fuel lines. That should get her going. If there is old gas I wouldn't even bother trying to start it, you will likely do more harm than good. You might be able to get away with just a good carb cleaning if you don't try to start it.
  6. Just bought 3 of 16 pounders, these things have some serious heft to them. Great looking weight! Thanks Harvey looking forward to the shakedown run!
  7. I bought a new one off e-bay I can't remember if it was an uniden or a midland. I also bought a shakespeare 8' antenna but that was where ever had the best deal. There are different types of antennas out there to research a little before you buy. Some antennas are better for power boats and some are better for sail boats. EDIT: I looked back thru my old posts and found out it was a standard horizons gsx 1000 and a 8' 6db shakespeare antenna.
  8. Looks like Gold Flo. Red. 573 They don't make them anymore and ebay doesn't seem to have any. Look into kaboom or brad's lip stixs.
  9. Raymarine dragonfly. I don't own one but I will be buying one or the a78 next season. If you can't afford something like that try one of the small humminbird units 561 is around $150
  10. bet you could have been out in t-shirts.
  11. The epoxy isn't going to last with it being where the waves ride against it. I would weld before I would epoxy.
  12. What he said^, I automatically assumed it was a deep cycle. That is my fault.
  13. Chaumont is clear from what I hear. I have 2 friends up there and it has been clear since last weekend. Also they said henderson itself is clear.
  14. Sounds like an issue in the motor. I would be calling to send it back or see what they recommend.
  15. Have you verified it is fully charged with a charger of some sort? How old is it?
  16. I have never fished it but heard of guys doing so.
  17. Now if you were to say you were "pleasure/recreational fishing" while towing a charter boat would that still fall so you would need DOT numbers?
  18. I doubt having it in gear has any effect it would be rpm based. For it to drain it in 10 minutes seems a little odd. How big is the battery A/Hr. and how hard are you running the trolling motor (full bore or barely on)?
  19. I 2nd bags. I usually troll slow enough with my kicker but in rough water I like my main engine with bags it keeps the boat going straighter. Bags are easy to store and leave on the boat and everyone will tell you space is at a premium on smaller boats. Sent from my thinking chair...
  20. Listen to this man! Heat deteriorates flouro making it really weak. Sent from my thinking chair...
  21. I run 2 of the Chinook divers they are a great little product. Sent from my thinking chair...
  22. I just used a 30 series okuma and spooled all 1000' onto it. Fills the spool and no need for backing. Sent from my thinking car!
  23. I was wondering if anyone would pick up on it. But seriously there could be more to it than just a crack. Also be careful if you have an on board fuel tank and where it is located if you are welding it. Most welders would only charge you $100 depending on where it is and how long. Sent from my thinking chair...
  24. Where is the crack and the direction it is running? Sent from my thinking chair...
  25. Seriously? Someone stole your license plate? Why not just steal a lower unit, worth a lot more than a license plate... Sent from my thinking chair...
