  1. Honestly, I have had only lowrance and humminbird. I like humminbirds more mostly for customer service and reliability. I had a lowrance and it lasted 2 seasons, my father in law has had his lowrance for 6 years. Only downside is that lowrance does not repair units they discount a new one. I am planning on getting a Raymarine a68 with built in CHIRP as my next unit. I can network with my autopilot and any other accessory I add to the boat.
  2. I only hear good things about it and she looks great. The only reason why I'm not buying one is that it can NOT be networked with their other devices. It doesn't have any outputs only transducer and card slot.
  3. Normally I get out at the end of march but I don't think that will be the case this year. We have been spoiled in the past.
  4. Clean them how? Like remove varnish from the inside? I heard of people dumping some gravel into the tank and putting it in the back of their car while driving around for a week then rinsing them out really good. I never tried it but I would make sure to wash the gravel to get rid of any small particles. You could also try mineral spirits and leave it in there for a little while turning it onto different sides and let the mineral spirits work on the varnish.
  5. I just buy a lot of swivels then I can just snap new ones on.
  6. Wow sweet I can't believe Sodus is clear! I am looking forward to these warm temps and warm rain coming. There will be a lot of ice melt if it truly happens.
  7. I like that....might be my next bass rig!
  8. Nice to meet you, thanks again! Sent from my thinking car!
  9. PowerPro smallest diameter for the # test compared to any other line other than the nanofil stuff. Sent from my thinking chair...
  10. haha yes we do!
  11. But with that weight on it won't it just pull it closer to the boat? I'm not saying it isn't a good idea but I feel like the torpedo on the bottom defeats the purpose of the dipsy pulling it horizontally away from the boat to run multiple dipsy setups.
  12. You won't be disappointed great rod from a great company.
  13. Why so much line? I would back it and use 300 yard spools, much cheaper and have will more efficient use of the line counter. Once you get 1/3 of the spool gone your line counter numbers will be skewed a lot. I guess I should have specified for the magda 30's. I run 50 on my PowerPro dipsys and didn't have a single flea build up on the line (mostly on the leader from the dipsy to the spin dr.)
  14. Are you planning on trolling? Or is this for perch fishing? Sent from my thinking chair...
  15. Like I said you should be fine with your unit it shouldn't use more than my flasher. The power consumption is shown at its max which I doubt you would use if in a small boat. Knowing now you have 3 deep cycles I would just run a quick disconnect. Sent from my thinking chair...
  16. Try getting some in black back and silver sides 4.5". The blue back is a good color along with that gold & black looking one towards the back in the first picture, but honestly I probably wouldn't use many of the others. The "Ghost" shad or white prism looking cranks always do well for me.
  17. PM sent.
  18. I'm with him ^. Seems a little to complicated and cumbersome having all that hanging off whether bringing in a fish or setting it up. How would it work trying to net a fish and that weight dangling around slapping the pole and crap? Let me know if anyone tries to use one this year I would like to hear some opinions on it.
  19. Nice video I, I am planning on setting up my boat this year with a couple go pros should be fun.
  20. Yup, also be careful being discharging the battery all the way. You can damage a non deep cycle by discharging it past 50%, I'm not sure if they consider all gel cells deep cycle or not.
  21. I have a set I will sell ya with the hardware I believe its called a dol-fin. It also bolts thru the cavatation plate. Sent from my thinking car!
  22. I second the okuma rods, the majority of my rigger rods are okuma classic glt 8'6" Sent from my thinking chair...
  23. Are these available now? Looks like I need a few more patterns for this year. Sent from my thinking chair...
  24. I have one of the Humminbird units for my flasher. I can go a whole weekend using my flasher and only be down half way. Also note that is in the cold. Sent from my thinking chair...
