Do you know when? -
You can set up a set of dipsy rods pretty cheap. 10' or 9' rods with magda pro 30 reels would be cheap. Here are the rods you can run $24.99 a piece. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-DepthMasterreg-Trolling-Rods/727531.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Ddepthmaster%2B%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=depthmaster+&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products Here are the reels $44.95: http://www.fishusa.com/Product/Okuma-Magda-Pro-DX-Linecounter-Reels Run some Power Pro 40lbs. 300yds. with 30lbs. big game backing and you would be set. 2 dipsy rods for under $175 EDIT: Here is a post by one of our sponsors with the reels cheaper. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/42041-okuma-rod-reel-sale/?hl=10

Looked today and it looks like more of it is breaking up!

I have .222, Finding shells is easy you just need to go to a gun shop they generally always stock them. I buy 2 to 3 boxes at a time so I have a large stock of them. Also if you reload .222 is a great round because you can experiment with loads and bullet weights. My gun is a CZ 527 love the gun and is super accurate with all bullet weights. Only bad thing is the follow up shot takes a second being bolt action if you need one. .243 is too large in my opinion on coyotes unless you already have one then use it.

The only sunlight my lures see is while I am running to my spot (15 to 20 minutes) then down to the deep they go. Generally speaking I don't get hits right away so I would think that they are either too bright or not in my vicinity at time of setup. I generally like to start shallow in the summer months (90 fow) and work into the deeper stuff so my bait is in the "zone" by the time I get to my preferred water depth.

Try some of that stuff they sell for cars Dynomat? I think that is what it's called. It is supposed to really deaden noise. I would be careful using styrofoam because you might increase running temps inside.
-
Well the forecast this morning was a little more optimistic with high temps in the mid to upper 30's for the next 5 days. This is a good sign as the average temps for March are in the upper 30's to 40. You guys never know next week might swing so we have 60's and melt everything off. I know it is wishful thinking but you never know mother can be whacky.

Sell it and buy a fiberglass. Haha Make sure you put the sand bags at the lowest possible point to keep the handling the same. If bow rise is a concern add leveling tabs. I know there are non hydraulic tabs that run on a spring they seem to work wonders on light boats. Sent from my thinking car!

I catch a lot of lakers by accident on a no name spoon. It has orange across the top, silver across the middle, and green across the bottom. I think it is an old northern king. Sent from my thinking car!

Lest expensive way to get an autopilot system
Chas0218 replied to bassman69767's topic in This Old Boat
Just google what you are planning on buying there is tons of info on the S1000 units. I have seen where the s1000 units work great for some trolling and others they didn't it is all about the setup. The s1000 units are old and I doubt if you have issues you can get new parts. -

My boards are big enough and bright orange, I havent had anyone try to run them over or get close enough to make me yell at them. Last year during walleye season I did have this one yahoo that wanted to see what color shoes I was wearing and ran right up behind me and tried to tangle one of his inlines in my big boards. He got lucky and was able to pop it over my board. I just stood there shaking my head. Sent from my thinking car!

Wouldn't leave the dock with out them?

Also you could try adjusting the noise filtration of the unit. That might help. I would first run resistor plugs then look into the noise reduction. Sent from my thinking chair...

I forgot about that.Sent from my thinking chair...

Ya they definitely produce fish but are expensive I definitely don't want a monster pike to bite one off. Sent from my thinking chair...

Haha aint that the truth. Sometimes when fishing alone I find myself talking to big mother O...

Lowrance does not repair units they just replace them or discount new ones. That is the main reason why I buy Humminbird units they repair them but starting at $125 minimum repair fee. The repair costs can be only $5 but they charge you $125 anyway. It is a loose loose either way. Although I have a unit that is 7 years old and seems to be going strong still.

I tell you if I add up everything I have spent I think my wife would kill me. I have more in my autopilot and power steering than what I paid for the boat and trailer. I think all said and done it is in the $10k not including the boat. I know I have an easy 1k in rods, another easy 1k in reels, 1k in spoons & flahers, about 1k into crankbaits, I'm not going any further...
