I have bumped bottom on various occasions and never had any cut loose. One time I was in the middle of fighting a fish by myself and probably bounced it off the bottom a good 30 times until I was able to steer the boat to deeper water. I wouldn't recommend it but the fish I had in its the king in my Sig and would have been well worth losing that diver and setup. Sent from my thinking chair...

Mine are the tubes so they are cut to length using compression fittings on the ends. Sent from my thinking chair...

I don't fish that area but where I fish Tackle wise any deep diving prism with black or blue back works well along with yozuri crystal minnows in prism perch, Smithwick rattling rogues silver with blue back and silver with black back. Speed you want around 2 mph on gps and be around 30' is water sometimes they like it shallower or deeper but not more than an 8' difference. Look for shoals to fish on the edges and over the tops. Generally I will run the boat so 1 set of planer boards run across the top and the other set along the deeper edge. Sent from my thinking chair...

It's there a place to buy t style compression fittings for my raymarine hydraulic pump that work with the bay star steering? The bay star uses the tubes not the hoses so I can cut them but need to find t fittings to plumb in the pump. I was going to go with regular hardware store bread fittings but figured they needed to be special thread our something. Thanks, Chas Sent from my thinking chair...

I have the clam tamarack and for the price it works well. Just make sure you detach the skirt from the ice/snow or the snow will detach it from the shelter. My first time out my buddy was "doing me a favor" by picking up my shelter and he ripped one of the corners off. It doesn't hinder its performance at all but it was literally brand new the day before. You can fit 2 guys and a heater no problem.

What is the model number on the motor? They sell charging coil assemblys separate for the motors. I will be purchasing one for my little 7.5 soon I'm pretty sure mine is a 81 johnson 8hp.

That is great to hear I will do the majoirty of my fishing around 2 mph, maybe a little faster. Do you need the raymarine/gps connection to use the U-turn feature?

Thats a great idea and would be much easier than fashioning a face to it. My other thought was to buy a set of covers for my depthfinder and gps. I dont like to buy things like this if I know I can make it. I actually enjoy building things with my hands, you should see the ice fishing sled I made out of an old set of downhill skis.Best part is next year when I buy a new fish finder I just have to un bolt the old and cut out a new face and bolt her back in. Thanks guys! Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!

I just purchased the raymarine auto pilot with the p70r and it looks like it can only be mounted in dash so I made an enclosure for my electronics. What do you all think? I do have a front cover to cover them when they aren't in use. Sent from my thinking chair...

Help with snelling hooks with fluorocarbon
Chas0218 replied to vetting's topic in Tackle and Techniques
I run seaguar flouro 50# and tied all but 4 of my leaders. One problem I'm having is finding the little rattles for the leading hook. My lenders looked like Crap when I first started but with a little practice they get better. I also used a traditional Snell knot, because I didn't like how the main line went up the outside of the knot instead of under the wraps. Anyone know where to find the ones like attomik uses? I forgot to mention not a single break off. Sent from my thinking chair... -
The fishing is never the same year to year so a response would be only a guess. I would recommend tying them directly to the leaders you will get better action out of the lures. Sent from my thinking chair...

Sounds like you're hunting down here in Steuben county. I don't own property but now hunt and gun hunt my buddy's property and firing gun good luck seeing any deer on it after they start to push deer. On my family property we never push and see deer the entire gun season. I look at it this way the proof is in the pudding. I have tried different techniques and so far mine seem to pay off better for me. Sent from my thinking chair...

There was a study in PA it was in outdoor news 3 seasons ago they allowed crossbow hunting during archery first year ~14% of deer were taken, next ~28% the next 46%. There was a growing trend as well as the amount of deer taken but license sales went up Lee's than 10% total over the 3 year period. That tells me it increases the odds of the Hunter. The conservation police copped out and said it wasn't enough time to really tell if crossbows are responsible for fewer gun season harvests after each of the following archery seasons. I think they just didn't want to admit I they let the bear out of the cage without adding any limitations to it. My wife pulls and shoots her 2006 bowtech at 52lbs. Without any problems all she does is practices which builds her muscle up where she can pull it. It works the same way with r every person. I can see having surgery and not being able pull back a bow but with the technology out there today you can shoot a bow down to 40 lbs. and still humanely kill a whitetail. Reputable website to buy boat accessories?
Chas0218 replied to Chas0218's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Yup I originally was going to get one of the mechanical units to put on the hydraulic steering because there was no way I was going another season without hydraulic steering. I wanted something that was ready to setup and be worry free, I heard that the mechanical drive units go bad more often so that's why I shyed away from them. Sent from my thinking chair... -
Using Bow mount electric trolling motor for Auto Pilot steering
Chas0218 replied to Frogger's topic in Open Lake Discussion
If you're looking to use it only for trolling you can get a dedicated autopilot for the same price. Sent from the awesomeness of Chas! -
They use the same technology yes but for someone to sit and wait with the weapon cocked and all you need to go is raise the crosshairs onto the animal and pull the trigger isn't bow hunting. That's almost like saying they used to use flint locks that should be the only gun used during gun season. They made a separate season for black powder and modern sporting rifles as they should have and allow crossbow during gun or black powder. I shot a crossbow last year for the first time and almost robin hooded an arrow at 50 yards. I never touched one before I cocked it loaded the shaft and let her fly. It takes next to no skill other than a steady rest to shoot. Sent from my thinking chair...

I agree unless the person has an underlying disability that renders them unable to pull and hold a compound.Sent from my thinking chair...

If they are going to allow crossbows during archery I'm buying a crossbow and hanging up my old compound, no point in using something that takes skill and practice to shoot.
