gota wait till they come outa the mud....once spring has sprung anywhere! mays pt. below the damn is good for big cats, bottom fishing with cut bait and crawfish works great.....got some old baitfish that are starting to smell.....chum them into the current and setup a few bottom rods with dead shiners and or a big hardshell with his claws ripped off....all those catfish dip baits are a waste they leave u smeling llike **** and u dont get ne bites.....make ur own with oatmeal,strawberry jello mix and some crusshed whole grain bread mixes with some fish oil/mashed up old bait........mix in some sweet corn and u will have a hard time keeping cats and carp off ur hook....just gota master making a doughbait that will stay on a hook long enuff to get a bite and will break down in the current to bring em in....

make shure ur heads got eyes colored onto them, white and purple with black eyes is my favorite.......all the launches are open on seneca....geneva end watins..or severne pt....roys marina,.......some guys swear by rosey reds and fatheads bottom fished but i think they are a waste of money....if u cant get schooled perch to hit plastic ur doing somthing wrong...

pumpkin colored mr twistee grubs fished on 3/16 ounce jig head tied to a two inch tag leader on an ultralight....1/2 to 3/4 ounce bass sinker @ bttom of rig keep the twisstee tag about 12 - 18 inches off the bottom and bounce it through a school when u find em.....they are schooled up from 35 to 70 right now located near the drop offs on the west side.....idk bout the other side of the lake....stay in between kashong and severne pt. they are there just gota get on em.

fianlly someone who knows the truth like "I"......lol yeah they taste great its all in the presentation....if u know how to cook like a SuChef u can make nething taste good, not that id try...but these drum' do have great white meat on them........and idk where everybody else catches them but in montezuma im catching them pre and post spawn and they are beutifull......very colorfull under the light.....the babys look like aliens witht heir big' ol eyeballs.....

i try and do as much side work as i can get but its been rough this winter...ima trained arborist and i climb trees so the few tree jobs ive rounded up this year have helped alot, just gotta be careful cuz i cant be puting to many checks in the bank or the state will be after me! cash is good tho! .....nebodys got some trees they need trimmed or taken down nows the time of year to do it, no leaves and trimming now is much healthier for the trees, as they are dormant.

they taste good, i will fillet the lil ones under a pound or two like you would a perch.....white meat. the big ones i bring to the chinks, they use the otoliths for some black magic or sumptin and they looove to eat them...i used to bring them carp but when they got a bucket of drum in their sink they wont even take carp nemore they want the drum's.....im also researching the jewlrey making market for them , out west its a big hit with some native tribes and earth cookies......good hhobby to get into if ur crafty.....pays for my bait and gear!

hey im trying, im a union electrician, got laid off in early december cuz i worked myself out of a job......literally no more work in my territory.....every winter this happens cuz our economy is in the dumps....theres nothing i can do i gota sit back and wait for the hall to call....cant recruit my own work asper my contract......so im stuck sitting it out and goin fishing every day stimulating the economy with my unemployment check!......

lol....true dat. only disadvantage of the seth rig is u dont get as good of a fight.....i dont run it off my victrola but i have tried....i just like to run copper to some dacron or braid 50'lb test then tie on a keel weight 2 or 3 ounces and then mono leader for shock absorbancy, then put a sutton on the end and ur golden...they love that presentaion. and if ur good or ur copper is marked every 25 feet or so u can get it newhere in the watercolumn.=more fight on a single spoon run in line....the keel weight just makes it so i dont need as much copper out. it gets old pulling in 4 or 5 hundred feet of copper to get ur fish...more dangle on the angle with the keel weights. dave neone ever tell u ur a funny guy!.....lol dont be jelous! They call me the trout whisperer.....my cunning additiude and sixth sense on the H2o can bring them right to the transom, some days i just go out with a harmionica and a net....U big lake guys gota spend a pension fund or two to buy all that gear and it still dosnt put em on the boat some days! i thawt venison was getting expensive to eat with all the dec fees and butchering cost.....i dont want to know how a $20,000.00 salmon tastes in thre smoker, cant be to satisfying.!! j-k

hes got it...lol...kinda funnny but thats how i learned to kill em....look for the eyes and spread em out a lil bit with some lead !!!! some nights when stars and moon arnt on ur side thats all youll see in the distance is those evil eyes peering @ u through some brush!

lol...sum of us dont like to spend all that money.....im a minimalist....why spend ur life savings to buy the big boat and all the fancy gear when u got the sixth sense! joking!!!....but i just cant forsee spending all thatdough on downriggers and balls and flashers and dodgers and flies and meat rigs and j plugs and see where im going with it...people get more caught up in the gear than they do the FISHING..... u dont have to slaughter them, with percise accuracy and presentation every time out to be having a good time....sometimes keeping it simple is more fullfilling cuz then u feel like u caught the fish...not your gear! but hey thats my opinion. and i just like to know im catching how my forefathers did!!!!With a record player...lol

whata joke, this is why i hate NY...im only 25 and ive been getting a license since i was of legal age to do so and ive watched my cost literally double........for what????? the deer are not getting any bigger the fish are not more prevelant.......stocking programs are in the dumps.....what a shame to get taxed out the a**hole and our natural resorces are being molested on a daily basis....this needs to stop.....im shure uve all heard that the DEC in now backing the fracking too.......its all a money game, and were all on the short end of the stick, just another group of people the gov't can rape to fix the budget......

itll work, but u better aim between the eyes or ull be tracking a wounded dog.12 guage with buckshot.....better yet i use a .410 with buckshot...nice tight pattern, the .410 slugs are pretty effective too, but make shure to know where ur throwing ur lead first get a big peice of cardboard and try it at different ranges with different loads......nothing worse than knowing u were aiming right on em and spraying lead over their backs....they duck and run and there goes ur hunt...move on to the next woodlot!

try the rubberband trick to supplement ur drag if thats the problem loop it aroud an eyelet on the reel or nething for that matter and do the same on ur line ...the band will break if u get a bite or snag bottom.

what do u mean by rigs??? Seth Green rigs??? thats the only thing i can think of that would put stress on a reel!?....

ive got a pair of old warped ones off one of my rowboats...they look rustic and might be a good addition to a kids room.....they are yours for 25 bucks if u want them......i live in geneva but id consider driving towards the city sometime in the next week or two if u want them, i could just make a trip out of it and stop at the genesee or one of the feeder creeks to fish on the way home..... yup, they do taste good dispite popular beleif....and that corn trick does work.......a guy named mark mcgrath came to motezuma last year and he is in the forefront of a new sportfishing following......japaneese bait companys sponser him and other fisherman....hook em up with hi tech gear and specially designed baits and many other perks, these guys go around upstate NY giving demos on how to catch clean and cook them to perfection....these fish pound for pound are some of thre hardest fighting frshwater fish people are just weary cuz they are bottom feeders.....if u saw how hot dogs were made ud prolly never buy a hoffman hot again......dont be so quik to judge.....there are lots of recipes that if i were to prepare and feed to an unexpecting person they would never guess it was carp..and they would like it untill i told em what it was then suddenly it tastes like ****....kinda the same with venison......ive fed it to people that swear they hate it telling them it wasnt deer and they loved it........its all in your mind...in fact they are worth some money if you know where to go with them......hint hint chineese resturants!!!!! think twice about that "baked salmon" next time ur in line @ the buffet!!!!!

u know what ur talking about guy, props to you, but i still think my point is valid.....why would they get rid of a good thing they have a monopoly over the average joe and the basic outdoorsman and woman.....the ones who dont get as into it as us folks on this board....quite frankly theres 100 average joes out to just put a pole in the water or shoot a gun to every one of us novice to pro outdoorsman and woman. and walmart has a monopoly on that market cuz they can sell everything cheiper b/c/ of their corporate structure....those uneducated, basic folk whom dont frequent bait shops and tackle stores and gun shops will and have always went to walmart for the selection of cheip gear.....those of us that make it an obsession and a part time hobby or job stay away cuz we know better.......so i just dont see it i guess theyve got to be making a killing in those dept's. there will always be lazy americans, face it were loosing the race to china and we wonder why......so as long as these people exist walmart will make a profit off them. regardless of what they do to take down the mom and pop shops. unfortunate but true...
