Good Question Nick. I am thinking that all boaters must follow the general laws. It is kinda like how bicycles stop at stop signs. I couldn't find anything in the NYS boaters manual but I pulled this off the Coast Guard site. â– Vessel includes every description of watercraft or other artificial contrivance used, or capable of being used, as a means of transportation on water. How often do you see somebody get a ticket for using a battery operated motor on an unregistered canoe? I don't think they care that much. I could be wrong. IMO It seems that kayaks are the waterways version of the bicycle. If you run over them get ready to pay, but don't make them follow the laws. But like Ray said, tresspassing around a nuke plant or Government installation is completely different.

Colored up like that, it looks as though it is ready to go up the creek. Nice fish.

Jeremy Wade just called. He wants to do a River Monsters show on the St. Lawrence. I asked the captain I fished with on the hudson if they ever see bull sharks and he said no. He was located at Saugherties. Kinda suprised me since it is tidal waters. I do not know what makes them go up which water ways but I have always thought that a shark that could withstand freshwater could endup in Lake Ontario. If any of you fellas catch one, I will gladly accept some steaks.

DEC approves changes to fishing regulations --
BSmaster replied to L&M's topic in Open Lake Discussion
seems like they are closing more stream sections for the walleye spawn. I knew the rainbow regs were coming. I hope these changes doesn't have any severe circumstances for anybody on here. I think this is an attempt at long term benefit for everyone... Good luck. -
I was thinking about training a pet Eagle/Osprey. I got the idea watching the Mongolians chasing down Coyotes with Golden Eagles.

Sounds like a good time. Please get pics for next post. I like to see those pigs.

Try deep running crank baits around structure. Drop offs from dams, submerged creek channels. Best time is at dusk into night. I do not know speeds but I would try this with a gizzard shad pattern and make it noisy. This is one fish that I think the lunar cycle has an effect on so I would look at fishing forecast. Go in with low expectations. Every time I think I have them figured out, I don't. I also think smaller bait in spring and bigger bait in fall. Other than that I got nothing. Good luck.

I hope you get even. AND then some.

I don't think many people in NY fish for Hybrids (Aka wipers) since they have not stocked them in NY for a long time. PA stocks them as do a lot of states to the south. NY did not see a good return on what they felt was a very expensive venture. I catch them out of the Chemung and Tioga rivers, however, I do not troll for them. Some people fish the head waters (Hammond/Tioga res) where they are stocked but I do not know how they troll for them. I do not drag lines very often and I rarely pay attention when guys are listing speed and depth. If you google striper fishing tips you will find vast articles related to this type of fishing for resevoirs dedicated to this fish. These fish are a blast to catch on lighter tackle and IMO is the closest thing to a steelhead in fight. I think they could be used to control forage fish populations since they do not reproduce, you only stock them until you see the balance in the fishery return. I feel a prime candidate would be Conesus lake. The alewives are everywhere. I see you are from Jersey. I like fishing for hybrids but if I lived closer to the Deleware and the Hudson I would be much happier fishing for the real deal.

This is a tough year, however, do not be afraid to change your pattern. Once you find the pattern, you will be pleasantly rewarded. I still say go deep in Ibay. BTW. I have abandoned two of my favorite bass patterns already. I had to. Part of the fun for me is catching fish. This is the year of non tradition. Got a switch it up. Good luck man. Tight lines.

White sturgeon weighing 1,100 pounds caught in Canada

You have a cool cousin. -
You got the super fluke! Awesome! Just got back from VA Beach. Gotta figure out where I will be fishing this weekend, but this post (and the huge storms) is making me think about fluking it. Go big or go home... Nice fish. I don't always catch big bass, but when I do, it is on a fluke.

FLXTroutman, I just realized you posted both. I am an idiot for not reading that sooner. Did you catch that Laker by the beach? -

Things that make me go hmmmmmm... Earlier Post in Pictures. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=33772 -
This is working in the southern tier too. Just catching a lot of small ones.

I agree. The bass have a lot of chrome in Ibay so it should be fished deeper.

I got a WOW! Nice one for the first pic and a WTF for the second pic.

1st thing you need to do is stop at Dick's sporting goods and buy a Yankee cap. Kevin J Legg has been posting good reports. I would send him a PM. My experience has been to hit the edge of the drop offs where the current was strong, however, this did not work for me two years ago when I was there. I tried jigs, spinners, and even live crayfish and couldn't find the right pattern. Once you do it is fun. Good luck, I will enjoy seeing the pics.

Good to se they are still biting up there... I am also glad that the camera works. I caught and released a 6lber when I was teenager and all I got for it was my Mom's testimony. The camera she was using broke. She still has it with the film in it. BTW - Absolutely beautiful fish. Congrats to the young man!

I would say you have your CRAPpie together, however, I look past the fish and see your garments and me thinks "WTF?" Go Yanks!

Dave Mull @ GLA's blog post about his incident last week.
BSmaster replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Definitely a good read. I know I have become complacent recently. Hopefully it will help us all evaluate our rigs again. I know I am. I like how he outlines all of these little things as inconsequential yet when all put together at the same time become a master of disaster. I am glad they are alive to talk about it. I recently asked DEC about the hybrid program. I thought this would be a great way to supplement the fishing experience without long term effects. Hybrids do not reproduce, so if the forage base can not support, you just stop stocking. Kinda the same idea with Tigers. I thought a great pilot area would be Conesus Lake. Here is the DEC response... The stocking of Hybrid stripers was before I began working with the department, but I believe the reason they are not stocked any more is because: 1-we didn't get a good return to the angler, by that I mean the numbers anglers caught for the numbers stocked was low. 2-They are tremendous wanderers, case in point where your catching them in the Tioga and Chemung, and where their stocked in PA. Fish would be stocked one place and end up all over the place. Often times in areas that they weren't wanted. Because of this wandering they didn't reduce the forage in the places they were stocked, as you mention below that was one of the reasons for stocking them. 3-I think the cost of raising them was also expensive. Hope this helps and good luck fishing. Region 7 Fisheries Office NYSDEC 1285 Fisher Avenue Cortland NY, 13045 (607) 753-3095 xt. 213

[night crawlers] Suggest with a bobber or a drop shot rig. Lots of Gobys. From my recent experience (elsewhere) Blue gills are suspended right now anyways. not 100% but I think you can put a 16 footer in either launch.
