parting out my boat stuff to save up and buy my 'dream' boat. I just don't want to put the time or money into restoring this boat when I can just use that money to buy the boat I really want. next up I got a full outdrive - the lower unit is an alpha 1 gen 1 that I had purchased from maximum marine in ancaster Ontario. the place checks all internals and replaces any parts out of spec and put new seals and gaskets in it. lower unit is perfect order. along with it is a 13.75x21 pitch prop with the merc flo torque hub. paired is a MC-1 upper drive also in perfect running order. the front cavitation plate has a piece broken off of it but doesn't affect performance (see picture) the water pump is 1 season old but I always recommend replacing it to make sure no problems. will need the small o-ring that goes in between the halves for the oil passage way will not go lower than 500 bucks for the whole outdrive!! I also have some various gimbals and transom plates. 1 gimbal is the older style that does not have the trim switches on the sides and does not use the rubber type transom seal - this one does have a brand new gimbal bearing! - MAKE OFFER 2nd gimbal assembly is the mc-1 newer style that has the rubber seal and side trim switches that I used last year - will need new switches and new seals, gimbal bearing it just needs a rebuild but is a good candidate for it. - MAKE OFFER also I have an mc-1 lower unit. I got this with a pile of outdrive stuff from a guy when I needed a good upper unit. I do not know the condition of it and don't know if it is in good working order so this I will just say buyer beware. - make any offer!! got the old style trim pump mc-1 - this was working all last year for me so I can say this in fact does work - make offer! next up a LOWRANCE m68c s/map with transducer. it does have the mounting brackets for the ducer and unit. - 100$ Schumacher battery charger. works great and used a few times it is not 2 years old. charges all types of batteries and charges at 2,6 and 10 amps. - 50 dollars have a gas tank from my boat with brand new 1 season old vent hose approx. 9 feet long. gas tank measure 18'' wide 60'' long and 5'' tall+3'' taller for the tank fittings - holds 95 litres. it holds pressure but I don't know if the fuel sender works as I never had a gas gauge. - 40 dollars I have a handheld MIDLAND VHF radio with chargers and mounting bracket. - 40 dollars also have a BRAND NEW engine and dash wiring harness for the merc 140hp engine - please see my other link here on LOU for it - http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/42679-brand-new-engine-harness-and-dash-harness-mercruiser/ last but not least!!! an aftermarket steering wheel and hub to make your boat feel/look more fancy shmancy lol nothing special to say... its cool and I like it - 30 dollars make offers mean just that make a decent offer and chances are I will not refuse it. all of this stuff is located in Elmira, Ontario not new York lol but I live in Guelph and can meet around the tri-cities for the right price. pictures: ****ADDED**** also have 4 attwood rod holders pictured below! all 4 for 50 bucks - these are very strong heavy duty plastic!!

i got a brand new in package (quite possibly the last new harness in existence!!!!) engine wiring harness to a maercruiser 140 3.0. - P/N 84-66962A1 also have the dash harness that plugs into the engine harness P/N 84-812475A as far as i know and have searched extensively but the engine harness may be the last one ever that is brand new as they are now discontinued (if i am wrong feel free to say so!) engine harness - 100 bucks + ship dash harness - 50 + ship or buy together for 130 + ship located in guelph ontario. pics:

no work is ever easy... especially on a boat! but it depends what kind of cleaner are you looking for??? a general purpose soap cleaner or something heavy duty to remove heaby grime and stains??? there may be something out there but if your looking to remove heavy stains i highly doubt you will find on that does not remove wax.... for a general purpose just use a car soap with wax additives. stay away from dish soaps though

thanks for the replies guys ive kept thinking about this all night... i have so much work into the boat now and thought i may have a really serious problem. im taking it to a shop and having them look at it and redo the bottom.
-
doesnt sound good.... if i remove portions of the gelcoat and take a look at the fiberglass is there a way to tell if the fiberglass is damaged?? now im even more worried. what do i have to do to fix all this
-
i knwo i ask alot of different questions and paranoid. but i read that a fiberglass hull can soak up water like a sponge... i have had some paint flaking from the bottom i never got fixed (though i am sending to a shop soon to get the whole bottom redone) i just had stringers and foam redone this past winter and now i am all paranoid that water could have soaked through the hull into my new foam and stringers i have only had the boat out 7 times this year and its trailered and longest days on the water were maybe 12 hours... should i worry??? picture of what its like

due to arising problems with the boat i have i am taking it out of comission early this year and do a full mechanical overhaul over winter... but i plan to take it to a shop and have a full paint/gelcoat job done to it. there are a few dozen little holes i would like filled in and a little attention to a patch repair i did to the bottom. i am in guelph ontario and am willing to travel to a place that specializes in boat painting and surprisingly i havent found any shops except a place called ron bankes in port rowan. any suggestions? anyone heard of ron bankes in port rowan??? opinions??

i wet sanded it to get the uneven-ess of the gelcoat smooth as i brushed it on. i didnt buff it as i didnt care to make it look perfect. they were nice and even for a couple weeks and then all of a sudden they swelled a bit.
-
so after removing stuff from the transom from the previous owner i was left with a couple of small 1/8'' holes. the transom is pretty new and was completly dry (boat was stored indoors with holes venting to air for 7 months) i then took a 1/8'' drill bit to just clean the inner part and filled them with epoxy. i always read not to gel-coat over epoxy but i decided to try it anyway... i scuffed up the area really well and cleaned the crap out of it with acetone. i gel-coated the areas and turned out great! the gel is not flaking and so far has been very durable. i went today and started the boat as it has been sitting for 2.5 weeks (no time to get on the water and i noticed the holes i had filled in were swelling, as in they now look like little bubbles sticking out from the transom!!! what can cause this? i plan on taking it to a shop this winter and having all imperfections fixed by a professional but curious whats causing this and if there is reason to be alarmed. i just hope water didnt get in the transom and is swelling the 'repaired' areas

sucks to hear man... thats why in my setup i will use 30lb mainline and 25lb fluro leader between either the dipsy and spoon or between a SD and fly. i will see the drag a little looser but if the line by chance snapped it will only get my spoon or fly and not everything else! -
me? the one im using is i think a shakespeare rod - it is approx 45 years old... its VERY old and well used thus losing backbone to it lol. i have it paired with a shimano socorro 6000 spinning real though loaded with 20lb powerpro
-
i will say on that setup use only the small dipsies... the large divers really do put a huge strain on your tackle.... but the small divers with this combo is my favourite
