  6. Headed to the 100th islands for the weekend with my dad for the first time in 20 years for bass, pike and perch. As the last 5 years have been devoted to the great king salmon and not being up there for so many years I was hoping that some one could point us in the right direction to help make his summer vacation a fish full one. Any and all "secrets" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ! Crummer Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. i have to get this out the way first... if u are useing the loading ramps at hughe's STOP TRYING TO POWER LOAD UR LITTLE BOAT AND USE THE DAM WENCH ON THE TRAILER. norm and company have put many long hard hrs into there home to make it as nice as it is and doing extra work on the loading ramps because ur to lazy is unfair to them and the other people that use the loading ramps. Saturday was a little ruff on the water with crazy currents and some tossing around due to waves but turned out to make for a good day of fishing. started the day off trying to head west but after the first 2 fish done on pro king we decided to stop getting beat up and pointed east towards towards the point after staring at home port for 2hrs . we switched over to flashers and flys running 3 dipsys and 2 riggers. running around 4 on the ball and every now and then with the reverse bump picked up 8 more kings before we decided to head into sodus point for lunch. as we headed back to home port for the fireworks that night we did 2 more nice kings on the same spread we used in the am. 5 pm hit and was time to pick it up and finished the ride home. kings all ranged from 10 to 19lbs. white's flashers on blue/green flys covering 70 to 100'. Sunday made for a nicer ride for sure. set up with the same flashers and flys in 170fow. again running 2 riggers and 3 dipsy's with 4mph on the ball(90 down). first king came 80 down 190fow off the coyote flasher with a green hypnotist fly on the rigger. after doing 3 more kings between hughe's and bolder point we figured we should flip back around and head back towards port. keepping speed was alittle harder with doing 8.7 on top to get 4 on the ball, it kinda looked like we where trying to be Jeff Gordon trying to Finnish the Daytona 500 as we passed boats that almost looked like they where standing still but the kings kept screaming so we decided to stay the course. we did 5 more teenage kings before noon hit and was time to go home. kings ranged 15-20lb class with our best being 20.5lbs. looks like we can still slip in a few more boats for the slamon slam out sodus point on the 2nd of aug. it will be a great time no matter what with the day starting off with takeing a vet fishing in ur boat followed by lunch and prizes for both the vet and the boat captain that took them out. heres a link if u dont know what im talking about and are interested in showing a vet how to relax and enjoy a day! plz get a hold of ruffrider out of sodus point( i think he can be found on ch9 durring the weekend) or even my self out of hughe's ( i can be found on 68 aka dipsy ranger) if u have any questions http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/44642-2014-sodus-bay-healing-waters-salmon-slam-saturday-aug-2nd/
  8. i ran 1 once off my planer board in the spring for browns, 5 spoons only 3 of them had hooks. the first brown was fun and the added drag to the line made a challenge for sure. after putting it back out the next hook up on it had 2 browns( probably 8lb class) was reeled into the last 20 ft behind the boat when all hell broke loose and everything was lost with 45 min of retiein 6 lines .... it was the only day that was ever tried( 2 years ago) on the boat.
  9. Is there a way we can grab a ride from someone tonight from wrights landing to the captins meating tonight would very appricated had to take boat no veichle
  10. how close is the meeting to wrights landing?( trying to figure out how long the walk will be so we make it on time lol) best of luck this weekend to all and tight lines with a side of safe water!
  11. sounds like something we would do. but for the record... wasnt us lol nice fish guys keep it up
  12. someone plz help me... im trying to add the pix but am coming up short( probably like the browns will be )
  13. 1 upgrade in boat = a few $$$$ 1 boat full of bells, whistles, shiny's, of all size's and colors= a few more $$$ that boat + son's and the farther that taught them how to do it= pricless started yesterday pre fishing for today and did a bang up job on "dads" brown's going 20 for 24 in nothing over 50 fow .all done on top lines with bright oranges and yellows for the most part. we even put 2 outstanding browns over 12lbs for the loc board into the new 225 outrage. and let me tell you all what going from the little narrow 18 ft pen, to this... what a dream ride. we got dad to the boat and got set back up to do the do again and found a big fat goose egg. after hunting for browns and temp for a couple of hrs we pointed north to search for a screamer. after riding out to 220fow with nothing to mark the screen started to show some color. working hard and long in 220-280 we started hitting some steel head in the top 40ft. we where able to pick up a few with the best being 9.8 steel head for dad on the 200ft copper with a pearly gates pro king. well the dinner bell rang, the lines came in and the dipsy ranger headed to home port. this had to be my best day of fishing in a really long time even going screamless.
  14. if its a solid fly bite well run 2 wires ( 1 on 1.5 and 1 on 3 setting) off the boat and 2 braid off the planer boards on each side( warning in big waves has great chance of 1 big mess)
  15. dipsy ranger has heard ur call sir and ready to answer it once again!!! im sure that we can easily hold 2 vets this year in the NEW boat if needed. did i hear bff??? were in!
  16. we to did 5 rainbows out in front of hugh's 30/150. 1 was a 12lb native still full to the till with eggs. as we passed the shoot for lunch at the point we let dec take a good look at them. probably the best colored looking rainbow ive seen in the late spring in a wile. this info here is just awesome to see and thank you very much with the back ground of this fish here
  17. we have also used off shore planer releases (for browns) and passed the cheater line through one of the holes so it may slide freely. saves on rubber bands ( more for the dipsy's ) and u dont have to worry about the rubber band stoping the incomming traffic to the boat. also had very god luck running the cheater 6-10 ft over the ball. yes i know that if the line breaks u could lose the release but at that point you have already lost at least 1 if not 2 spoons and probably a 25-30lb fish whats alittle more fuel to the fire ? on the bright side of things you are able to adjust how much force it takes to trigger the cheater to fire just the same as u are able to do the same with your main line off your rigger. ( again saves more rubber bands form going into the big o and can go on my wire!!!) words from experience make sure u clip ur cheater line to your main line before you clip the release/ rubber band. hate to see that rod give a good jerk but never go off the ball only to bring it up to check every thing and find something missing
  18. norm and his family have done GREAT!!! work down there over the last few years with more improvements made weekly. guys docked there are very friendly and there to give a hand when and if needed. just be forewarned power loading boats is not tolerated. other than that theres a board to hang fish on for easy picture taking, easy fuel up station, clean and secure location to put the old girl in the drink and spend the day pulling fish over the side! i couldnt be prouder of a place to call home port
  19. quick spread... 2 riggers, 2 out side divers normal size setting 3 ( well say 250 and 300 on the counter), 2 inside divers mag size setting 1.5 ( well say 140 and 190 on the counters) if u run ur inside divers to high with sliders off ur riggers u WILL have a mess. best of luck
  20. great job guys. awesome hunt
  21. in the process now my friend. I think they are going to make great x-mas gifts this year
