  1. I hear ya. My dad and I planted (with help from the ASCS office) 15,000 spruce, and Pine on our farm when I was in junior high. Now they are getting to large, and need to be selectively thinned to create more understory. I am in the same boat as you Gator as I have twin 5 year olds that are into the outdoors, so 95% of the work I'm doing is for their benefit down the road.
  2. Nice when they give you second chances!
  3. Gator, I too spent a lot of time this spring planting hundreds of trees. Like you probably lost all of the conifers I planted as road screens. I am guardedly hopeful that the brush species I planted(Gray dogwood, arrowwood, highbush cranberry, toringo crab apple, and a few others) made it through. For next year I am looking into Miscanthus. Check it out on mapleriverfarms.com. Looks to grow quickly and make good screens or cover.
  4. NBK, Watermelon
  5. We fished in front of aurora and caught around 25. Mix of silvers and lakers, but mainly small fish. Riggers, divers and 10 colors all took fish. Speed was anywhere from 2-2.8. Was a little bumpy there so speed was kind of a PITA. SIlver backed spoons and F/F both took fish.
  6. Mr. Big What speed and presentation do you find works best for this rig? Thanks
  7. We tried as well. Had 4 young kids we packed it in early. Currents were crazy! Sean, What did you pull them off the bottom with? Spoon? FF? Meat?
  8. I don't have a lot of experience with meat, but I would definitely recommend Rockets. They are easy to tune and rugged. Plus, Mike is a great guy to deal with. He is very generous and will help you as much as you need. If you want, you can also inject them with scent to help with attraction.
  9. What about plain fish oil? Maybe from a pet store or a vet? My dog takes it everyday but it is in pill form.
  10. Chicken Wing is a damn good spoon on the FLX as well!
  11. I think Justin (Justtracytrolling) has one.
  12. They look like a mini ling cod
  13. If you like just a little more spice with your BBQ sauce this is what I do as a standard sauce in our house. Simple: Mix half a bottle of sweet baby ray's with half a bottle of Dino's Wango Tango. You get the best of both worlds, the thin spiciness of the Dino cuts the thick sweetness of Ray's. We love it.
  14. Gill, I think he means he will have 650' ft of power pro backing behind his 400' copper.
  15. I made trout marsala the other night and my family loved it. Make it just like you would chicken marsala and it tastes good. But, its just like any other marsala as far as I'm concerned all you taste is the sauce and the mushrooms and onions, so enjoy!
  16. Chad, Is it possible to protect the finger lakes discussion section like the Ontario fishing report sections are protected? Meaning, that at least you have to be a site member to view the finger lakes report? Just a thought. DJ
  17. John, That's part of the reason the miscanthus looks like a good idea, NO THORNS! Multi floral is nasty crap!
  18. I've gone the other direction this year. Instead of planting food plots I planted more cover. I am surrounded by one of the biggest farms in the state so there is food literally everywhere. I am trying to make my little 115 acres THE place to hide. My dad planted 15,000 spruce and pines about 25 years ago and this year I planted 250 Norway spruce along road edges to eventually be a road screen and another 250 various brush species for cover, (Gray dogwood, arrow wood, and 5 or 6 others). Next year I will be trying Miscanthus! That stuff looks great for screens and cover. If you've never seen it before check out Maple River Farms.
  19. That's it man! Great job.
  20. Anyone got a picture of the winning landlock? 11# that's awesome!
  21. I got it... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
  22. Any pics from the side of the sticks so we can see the patterns?
  23. Are you sure its the probe and not the triducer?
