  1. Skinny kings vs Fat lakers. Feeding on alewives vs Gobies ??
  2. I agree! I've never had a "bad" walleye. Anyone who thinks large walleyes aren't good table fare should try and eat a lake trout.
  3. The hell with that boat, that's a rip off! Time to find a reasonable marina or adjust the prize structure. Not speaking for anyone, just an idea, but what about having a Seneca charter trip or two for raffle winners? Would be a good way to show people unfamiliar with Seneca techniques how to catch more fish (make them more interested in the derby on their own boat) and give charters an opportunity for advertising and help build a client base. Might be especially good for someone trying to get started in the business? Money is the central issue... Involve some wineries? Prize packages for raffles? Might be a positive way to bridge the conservation questions everyone has with them regarding runoff etc... Just a few thoughts.
  4. Senator Nozzolio isn't officially retired yet is he? If anyone has a connection to Senator Nozzolio I think this would be right up his alley. Maybe he could hang his hat on this as the last big thing he could do for all Veterans before he is officially retired? If not, then I would think he could point the right direction in which to take this as far as the state is concerned.
  5. Don't forget the bull shark!
  6. I've been up there to see the mount of that fish and the #2 fish. They are ridiculously impressive. We get excited to catch one that is 30+ and that thing is over 3X as big. Beautiful. My wife caught a 60+# king out of the Kenai and they are an impressive animal for sure.
  7. M*A*S*H! My grandmother used to watch that show all the time when I was a kid!
  8. I got it form either the blood run or Anglers avenue site, can't remember which. Their thought being that it helps to keep the line from the rod to the board out of the water better, thus reducing drag.
  9. We caught a bunch of Lakers this weekend in about 150 fow on bottom and they had a pile of gobies in them.
  10. What changed that made him like the water?
  11. Nice rig Brian! I'm pretty sure Forester Dave probably shorted out his keyboard with drool when the pics came up!
  12. By clean them right do you mean bleeding them out soon after you catch them or something different?
  13. Nice job
  14. Just buy the ten color spools and split them, its super easy. Cut them to length and tie them with either a willis knot or small inline swivels that will fit through onto your reel. Also, with the Offshore boards you can cut the weight in half and place both section in the front portion of the board and it will help alleviate the "nose up" riding tendency.
  15. I cut the weight in half and stacked it in the front of the board, and they plane out to the side better in my opinion. I also bent the front arm up. Tried the same fix with my TX44s and it was a disaster.
  16. I think in the past I've heard someone mention bare brass hooks?
  17. Being we can't change which way the wind blows how do we go about catching fish on an east wind? I'm tired of getting my teeth kicked in most every time the wind is from the east. Does anyone have a strategy that even remotely works on an east wind? Or is it just a fore gone conclusion that fishing is gonna suck every time?
  18. We ran a 1 color lead core last weekend in the side of the prop wash and had a real nice fish take it. We lost it at the boat, but the rig worked. If you get inside of 10 fow might be a little tight though due to the sink rate on the inside turn. I rigged it up so I didn't have to mess with taking off a split shot while fighting a fish. Will probably try the weight rod this weekend though, and I would think having the weight a little farther away from the spoon would be beneficial when trying to land the fish, rather than trying to do it with a fired up fish in the prop wash.
  19. Coach Krzyzewski or Carolina's Nightmare
  20. Blue Horizon
  21. BAD GENIE: Bright, shiny, and mesmering. Then you get hit with the hooks
  22. Thanks Mike. I was thinking the same thing as far as dock clearance. I have a wide gunwale so I was going to mount them in a ways and with a slight turn forward I should be able to get them flush or just inside the outer edge of the boat.
  23. I have a 55# bow mount that I believe has a leak in the lower unit. I am not going to spend the money to get it fixed , as I am going to buy a new one at some point. One of the guys at Bass Pro said it is worth a decent amount of money in parts. Transmission, circuit board, quick connect bracket, etc... I am looking for a little help in finding a business or person that is interested in something like this. Any ideas or thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks, DJ
  24. I wonder how much production time has been sacrificed by this thread! Melon Choly is pretty damn good.
  25. I have a set of fixed triple trees I am in the process of mounting. My question for those of you that have fixed trees is this: Did you mount them perpendicular to the side of the boat or did you angle them forward slightly? I am leaning toward angling them forward slightly even though they don't look as nice that way. Thoughts?? Thanks, DJ
