That sounds awesome Justin. I have done similar things many times but not with as many ingredients. Mainly Worcestershire, bleu cheese, and garlic spears. You got me thinking. I may try that with a broccoli slaw that we make with shredded broccoli, apples, craisins, and creamy poppyseed dressing

CUOMO TO SIGN SAFE ACT 2 if re-elected. We Better get out and VOTE!
DJ 17 replied to DJ 17's topic in Open Lake Discussion
It is my understanding from the article that this will be part of his plan if re-elected. So it obviously very important to elect as many officials as possible that oppose his politics as well as the Safe Act. -
Did anyone else see this? If this is true, and it happens, he will be multiple steps closer to taking our firearms away. If he does these things, it will make things so prohibitively expensive it will be very difficult for the average New Yorker to be able to keep and use his or her firearms "legally". THE SAFEST WAY TO PROTECT YOURSELF IS TO VOTE HIM OUT. http://bulletsfirst.net/2014/10/13/cuomo-sign-safe-act-2-law-gets-reelected/

VOTING HIM OUT IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO STOP HIM AND HIS SELF SERVING AGENDA. He obviously doesn't care about upstate or outdoorsman/women vote. http://bulletsfirst.net/2014/10/13/cuomo-sign-safe-act-2-law-gets-reelected/

Lots of great fisherman on here so I'm sure you will get tons of info, but here is some of the basic stuff that we usually do. Look for the color line and run it. We usually have better luck on the edge of the green and brown water. We never do that well running in the mud. 12# mono leadered down to 8 or 10# floro on light rods. They are browns not kings. run a mix of spoons (stinger size) and sticks ( Jr thundersticks, rapalas, challengers, etc.. and react to what the fish tell you Run planer boards to get most of your presentations away from the boat Usually have better luck with spoons off the rigger lines on long setbacks down 5-10 ft depending on the depth we are fishing If you run spoons off the boards put a split shot 4-5 ft in front of the spoon to keep it under the water and to help keep the lure weed free Colors: Sticks: firetiger, chart/white, blue/white, black/silver, blue/silver, brown/gold, rainbow trout, brown trout Spoons: Alewife, Chicken wing, SSW, Mixed veggies, glow frog, monkey puke FIND THE WARMER WATER Just a start but hope it helps.

I'm always looking for ways to improve my fishing ability no matter what the type of presentation. I would love to tag along or bring my boat and learn a new way to fill the freezer with perch.

Took my 3 yr old son hunting for the first time yesterday. He was so excited. We got in the blind and I sat down and he looks at me and says " Daddy where are the deer?" I explained we had to wait and we went over our previous talks on being "quiet and patient". He did a great job. After 15 minutes or so 3 does came out about 90 yds away. Of course, as soon as they did the wind switches and blows right too them, so they went the other way. 20 minutes later 2 more come out and the same thing happens. He sits on my lap for another hour and falls asleep ( no nap today). I let him sleep for a half hour and then got him out of there, by then it had started to rain and the wind was still bad. He never made a sound! Even when the deer were in front of us. As I get him back in the truck he looks at me with a huge grin and says " Daddy, that was awesome! Can we do that again?" I'm hoping he is already hooked. Now I have to take his twin sister who wants to go! It was a great time, even if the weather didn't cooperate. I am one proud Daddy this morning!

Deer Hunting...How much has changed for you?
DJ 17 replied to justtracytrolling's topic in Big / Small Game
I am lucky enough to have a wife that understands I am a addicted hunter. I have been since I was young. I grew up in a hunting family. Like many have said when I was a kid people would sit for the first day or two and then drive the rest of the season and shoot any buck that came out. For me it was a great opportunity to learn to hunt that way. I started walking as a driver when I was about 8 yrs old. By doing that I got to learn a lot about woodsmanship and the topography of all the land we had to hunt. I did that for 8 yrs until I turned 16 and could actually take a gun. As a result I learned how to try and move through the woods, track deer, both wounded and not, the importance of the wind, etc... We always eat what we hunt as well. Since then everything has changed for all the reasons mentioned above. But I attribute alot of the cultural change to Television and social media. It seems not only in hunting but in life more and more people have the "its all about me" attitude. They want to shoot the biggest buck to brag to the world, not just their hunting buddies about "how great they think they are" because they got a trophy. I let more bucks walk than anyone in our hunting camp, but not because of someone else's opinion or facebook post. I am not involved in any form of social media, unless you count LOU As mentioned above if a buck shows up and my adrenaline starts pumping then its a buck I want to try and harvest. It probably wont ever be a "Booner" but I don't have the luxury of being able to be paid to farm and hunt for Whitetails, I wish I did. To wrap it up, I have twin 3 yr olds, a boy and a girl, that watch outdoor shows and National Geographic type programs with me all the time, they can identify the animals and they ask intelligent questions: Such as "Why are the wolves so mean and chase the elk?" We get to talk about how the wild isn't like Disney land and they are very into it. They are both excited to go out and hunt with me and I can't wait until they do, and like Sean mentioned above if they ask me if we can take that deer its probably going down even if it won't "make the book" Sorry if I was long winded. Good Hunting DJ -

Wanted Still looking for Starcraft Fishmaster or similar boat
DJ 17 replied to dukhnter8's topic in Boats for Sale
I was in the same place a couple years ago and ended up going to CT to buy an Alumacraft. I love the boat, Its a 175 Dominator with a 115 E-Tec on it, and has all the things you are talking about. I wish it was a little longer but other than that its great. It's 94" wide and handles the water great. Let me know if you would like more info -
Sounds good Justin! If I get to try it I will let u know how I make out.

Just wondering if anyone had any info? NOT asking about specific spots just a general consensus, have they started to move a little shallower or do they seem to still be mostly suspended over deeper water? I was actually thinking about maybe trolling for them for the heck of it, if I couldn't find a jig bite. Any thoughts?

You can do it that way if you really want to, but it is probably easier to do what Buckboard mentioned above and hitch it to your mainline via a rubberband with a half hitch. That way there is less gear in the water and if the fish hits the MUP rig it will just break the rubber band and slide down to the main line lure and you can fight it from there. The MUP phrase is just an abbreviation for Mag Up. Meaning lots of time guys will run a regular size spoon off their main line and attach a fixed cheater about 5 ft or so above the rigger ball with a mag spoon trailing a little ways behind the main spoon on bottom, thus the term MUP. Hope that helps.

I am in need for replacement tubing for the regular slide divers. Any suggestions on a good place to track some down?
