  1. Fished with Forester Dave today and we had a great day! Went East out of the chute and fished to moon beach and back. We went 46 for 57 with 1 KING,1 Atlantic, 3 steelhead and the rest browns. No huge ones but we had an awesome day, we were very busy with just the 2 of us onboard with many doubles. Early on the bite was mainly J9 and J11 sticks off the boards with any kind of white in them, as well as firetiger thundersticks. As the morning progressed the riggers started firing with a stinger alewife and a FLT wicked Tuna! When the sun got higher the bite switched to black and silver J11's as well as Black and silver thunderstick jr's on the boards, it was really steady all morning. Fished from 10-18 fow. Found lots of beautiful green water. Our speed was 2.2-2.6 Tight Lines
  2. I just watched this with my 2 and a half yr old twins and they loved it! It is a great video! I can't wait to see that look on their faces!
  3. Rott, How long does it take you to unroll a Sutton after a king is done with it?
  4. I run a spring loaded trolling plate on my 115 etec and it works fine. that being said I hate the thing around the dock because it really hinders maneuverability in reverse. I would much rather have a kicker but that isn't in the cards at this point. If you have the option of getting a kicker instead go that way, you won't be sorry. Lots of positives for a kicker: speed control, safety of having second motor, fuel efficiency, NOISE, too name a few.
  5. The wire will keep fleas off much better as well. You don't need that big of a reel to hold 1000' of wire either, a size 30 fits 1000' perfectly. If you already have them and want to use the 45's they will work too.

    Cheek meat!

I save a bunch of them and sometimes make Cheek Scampi! Make it just like you would shrimp scampi.
  7. Like mentioned above, braid is the way to go. You can fit more backing on with braid due to the generally smaller diameter.
  8. Maybe we will have to try it farther east? There were some fish there we just didn't get it together I guess.
  9. Nice job Ralph, You did a lot better than we did!
  10. Went out of warrens today. caught a few, biggest was 8#'s. sticks and spoon mix. Only stained water was right in front of Maxwell. Another boat did better than we did in the same area, we just didn't pick the right stuff I guess. The lady at Warren's said guys had been doing well on a shrimp colored stinger ( of course I didn't have one) and they were out of stock with more on order. Picked up 2 coming right out of the chute.
  11. Anyone fishing out of Fair Haven today? I heard that the ice may possibly cause a problem in the bay with the south wind pushing it up into the north end of the bay and the chute?
  12. Pap, I have taught for the past 15 years and most of the time chalk it up to this: If you talk with them and not down to them KIDS LISTEN BETTER than adults :headbang: Charter guys can probably chime in with a million stories of trying to tell and adult the right way to do things only to watch them do it totally wrong because they saw Kevin VanDamn do it "the right way" on TV . Same old saying "Don't guide the guide"
  13. Will gladly untangle as many as it takes to see the huge
  14. OK, I am trying to decide between the X4 and the X4D. What would you choose and why? I know the X4D shows the depth of the ball, but what other advantages does it have over the X4? Is it worth the extra money?
  15. Thanks Chas, They can stand and reel without any trouble with panfish etc... They each "caught" a perch ice fishing this winter. May try to get them a trout this summer!
  16. Long point is wide open.
  17. I have twins that ask about fishing all the time and I have buddies with kids that want to fish as well. If I took 1 of them could I legally run 6 rods or only my 3 because I am the only 1 with a license? Thanks for the help.
  18. Has anyone been up there lately? How does the bay and launch look today? With teh warmer temps hopefully it will be good to go soon.
  19. Mark, Which ramp did you use out of sodus?
  20. Holy crap Mike that's a lot of spoons.
  21. Good Catch Ralph!
  22. There are snow geese everywhere!
  23. Closest open launch might be on Seneca. Cayuga has open water and some open launches towards the south end of the lake
  24. It seems to be more fun to me when he is so close that when he gobbles you can feel the vibration! Its also a lot of fun to shoot one with a bow. Not a handicap as far as range goes if you can get the bow drawn!
