  1. Wayne, Nice Job! That looks like a real nasty lamprey mark on the salmon. Evil little creatures! Was it mostly a spoon bite?
  2. To keep my free sliders from tangling with a F/F I half hitch a rubber band about 10-20 feet above the flasher and set the rigger to depth. Then hook up the free slider and throw it over. When you go to check the line, pop the release and let it rise slowly and reel it in. MOST times the slider will catch on the rubber band and there will be no tangles. Now if a fish hits the slider then obviously the rubber band wont stop the slider from going all the way down to the main lure, but in my opinion that is fine. I don't mind having to take care of a few tangles to catch more fish.
  3. We will be coming up either Saturday or Sunday as well, hope to tie into a few majors! Which day looks like better weather?
  4. Clean them in your buddies garage! So Long Stink
  5. small copper spoons are deadly on Cayuga. The fleas will make the braid unusable pretty fast. Do you have any wire dipsy set ups? If so, bring those and leave the braid at home. As far as rigger rods go you can splice in some 30# flea flicker or mono between your mainline and leader to combat the flea issue.
  6. Forschner makes some good blades. If you are looking for electric, good luck! I can't seem to find a good one. I have just run the cheap ones til they burn out and get a new one. I have tried Rapala and Hamilton Beach. Unless someone has a better idea on here the next one I may try is from Mr. Twister. I would gladly pay more for a quality electric if anyone knows of a rugged one.
  7. Check out Clingerman's Taxidermy in North Rose Wolcott area. I haven't had a fish done there yet, but the deer mount I have from there is excellent.
  8. Rodbuster, I have an Alumacraft dominator 175 sport. I may be interested in the canvas if you still have it. What is the beam on your boat? What are you asking for the canvas? PM me with the info and some pictures if you can. Thanks, Dennis
  9. We ran into the same thing. Fish scattered all over. Caught fish from 60 to 105 FOW. Overwhelming majority on 4,5,7 color cores on harnesses, a few on jets, and 2 on dipsys with sticks (115 and 150 on 3 setting). 2 bonus steelhead, a laker and loads of silver bass and a half dozen perch. Had weather issues to deal with as well. Best speeds (waves permitting) seemed to range from 1.8 to at times up to 2.4. There really was a lot of variance in conditions. We had to work for them, but is always an enjoyable trip out there to chase something different!
  10. Flybuster you have a PM.

    Barcelona 6/30

    Nice job!
  12. That's a great fish!
  13. Duke you have a PM.
  14. Good Luck Man! Get them some sharks, they have MORE THAN EARNED IT. As 4th of July is upon us a huge thank you to ALL who have served. As I sit here and look at my 22 month old twins it makes me think. With the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg this week it should really make us all REFLECT AND APPRECIATE what we have because of the unselfish sacrifices of so many throughout our country's history. Gettysburg is one of the most powerful places I have ever been. I have stood where 2 of my family members stood and fought on those fateful days in 1863 and cannot comprehend what they dealt with. It is definitely a place everyone needs to visit. Thanks again to ALL who have served from our first 4th of July to this one.
  15. Chris, With all the bad weather, and so so fishing reports we have decided to postpone our trip for a little while and wait for things to settle down a little bit. We called the Barcelona harbormaster yesterday and he confirmed what you said. There are a few fish there but they haven't arrived in big numbers yet. Ray, Were you asking Chris or me about bingo?
  16. Thanks guys. Chris, Thanks for the info. The area where you are talking is right where we concentrate most of our time as well. I'm not really liking the forecast of possible thunderstorms everyday, so I will have to keep an eye on that. I usually use NOAA and weatherunderground. Are they fairly reliable forecasts for down there or do you guys rely on something different? In my experience, if they call for 1-3 footers its closer to 2-4, etc... We usually have the best luck on firetiger and perch patterns, any other suggestions? thanks again, Dennis
  17. A few buddies and I are planning our annual Erie pilgrimage to Barcelona early next week ( weather permitting!) I was just wondering if anyone could share some info on where to start and what to try? In the past we have done well renosky's and willow leaf harnesses. Any info is greatly appreciated. Also, what channel do you guys usually run on the radio? Thanks, Dennis
  18. ITO blues, greens, glow white.
  19. Adk, Mid august is pretty darn good in Fair Haven as well. I think most of our opinions for this will be based on geography. If you live near Oak Orchard its probably not real likely that you are going to drive to Henderson Harbor or vice versa to fish when you can launch the boat in your back yard. Many of us fish where it is the most convenient.
  20. Where do you get them for $90?
  21. Barry just a heads up, many people on Cayuga run on Ch. 68. Where are you fishing out of?
  22. I have 300 ft of 40# power pro and 450 ft of 45# blood run copper on a clarion 553 LS and it is pretty much full. Just my 2 cents.
  23. Mark, I have been talking with Mike from MC Rockets quite a bit lately about how to run the rockets. I have an order that is coming in today or tomorrow. What is you favorite set up for them? Colors, etc...Do you run a clean 4 ft leader or a different length? Clean leader or do you run twinkies? Thanks, Dennis
  24. On the dipsy, I try to make the leader as long as I can and still land the fish. For example, 10 ft rod= 8-10 ft leader. If its longer than the rod it can get real hard to land a fish. Especially in a small boat.
