I have seen where some guys have added a piece of sheet metal to the original keel to increase surface area, so they pull harder without adding weight. Has anyone here tried this? From the pics I saw it looked like bolt it on, and away you go. I'm going to try that first. Also considering trying the TX 44's instead.

Awesome stuff! This is really what its all about, the great times and the memories you make. I too am a Phys.Ed. teacher who grew up hunting and fishing with my Dad and Grandfather in NY and VT. My first memories of boat fishing are from my grampas 16 ft mirrocraft perch fishing in Lake Champlain. Later when I was about 10 My grandpa bought us a 16 foot blue fin which my Dad still has. I've caught a ton of fish in that boat and even more memories. Now I have my own rig which obviously has new stuff I have put on but it also has lots of stuff from my dads boat as well as some things from my grandpas. My grandpa passed away 12 years ago but I still think about him everyday. Especially on the water. I now have 18 month old twins and can't wait until they can go fishing with Dad andGrandpa, with their great Grandpa looking down helping us get a bite!

I haven't really checked them out yet. What makes them (better/more expensive) than the Convector? -

Net, I was running the stingers off the riggers 5-8 ft down on leads of 50-75 feet or so. But like mentioned above a split shot a few feet ahead will work well off the boards. I also picked up a bunch of those spring kings on stingers that were around last year! -

I have the TD and it works great for its purpose, but like Mark said the X4D is contiouous. If you have the option go with the X4D. When I can I will get an X4D or something similar. The TD is great for figuring out where your dipsys are actually running at a given speed and setting though!

Chad, Friends of ours gave us 2 neoprene vests with the head rests. I think they are made by Connelly. They are really rugged and well made, I will dig em out to see what the model number is and let you know. They are great.

Nice Job Chad and congratulations on the addition! Seems like yesterday my wife and I came home with our twins, its hard to believe that was 18 months ago. Today they "helped" daddy filet some perch for dinner! You will never look at life the same again. Gonna have to start looking at baby life jackets and buddy treestands!

I have the flush mount rocket launcher style by Scotty and they work well for me. With the flush mount the holders can be pulled and you still have the flat surface of the gunnel for family boat rides etc...

If you are running flat lines for browns, run the farthest line from the boat the farthest back. Make them progressively shorter as you come closer to the boat. If you wanted to run 3 lines you could set the outside line at 150,(amt. of line from release to lure) next at approx 120 and the inside line at 80 or 90. It is all personal preference. This way if a fish hits the outside line he "should" swing back into the middle of the spread and not tangle the other lines so you can fight him up the chute. Hope this helps. DJ

NEVER say anything like "Man its nice out here today. I thought the waves were supposed to be bigger?" Its like driving down the highway and saying" I haven't seen a trooper in a while." Less than 5 minutes a cop is on your A$$ or the Waves are kickin up!

There were some guys getting out way north, but the weather has already started to beat the pack back and tomorrow looks disasterous. 57 degrees and 20-25 mph south wind!
