  2. Thanks John
  3. What did you guys have for water temps north of deans cove?
  4. My facial expression as well as vocabulary were just a wee bit different!
  5. REDEMPTION! Hit a doe with my car yesterday morning on the way to work. UGH.. Hit this one with a rage last night with my Mathews! 19.5 inside 8 pt.. I have a ton of pics of him, and saw him at 90 yds on 10/2. Last night he was destroying a tree in the thick stuff behind me and came out to the field edge and started to walk away but turned towards a doe already out in the field and walked right in to 23 yds. At the shot he wheeled and ran and I heard him crash (Both lungs). I went and got my son Daniel (his first track job) and my Dad. He only went 70 yds. Not a big body, but its nice to get one you are targeting. My son and daughter (twin 6 year olds) were unbelievably excited!! Doesn't get much better. Good Luck to all! ( I also put this in Legacy's thread)

  7. Got the first doe of the season this am! Too bad it was with my wife's Kia. ugh
  8. Or just use a small barrel swivel and tie whatever knot you are comfortable with for the lead and the copper.
  9. Went last nite and had 6 does around me by 5:10, after a half hour one blows and they all freeze eyes locked in one direction. Knew this can't be good. They all bolt and here comes wiley coyote. He comes in and I give him a haircut. Damn! Look up and here comes #2, throw on another arrow and this one comes to the same spot. Bingo! It wheels with its guts hanging out and lays down 40 yds away. Look up here comes #3! He comes in slower and makes his way over to the wounded one and snaps at it enough that the wounded one gets up and runs it off a ways. For the next 20 minutes he sniffs and snoops around walking on logs and trying to figure out what's going on. Finally he comes to the same spot the others did but he's trotting, I squeak to stop him and he bolts immediately. Should have just shot him trotting. 5 minutes later from the direction the coyote went here comes 6 does and they know something isn't right. Long story short the 2 lead does circle the "dead" coyote and come up to within 5 yds and then they move off. After an hour or so I figure the woods is blown up at this point anyway so I get down and get my 2 arrows and walk over to the coyote and he gets up and takes off! I follow him for 150 yds and he goes in a thicket and its so dark with all the leaves still on that I can barely see. I get up to ten yds and I can't tell if he is where I saw him lay down or not, then he bares his teeth so I was sure! Finish him off because I honestly felt bad for him at this point. With his last breath he bites the end of my arrow off. Crazy tough animals.
  10. Do you have to run wire? Or could you get by with a heavier braid only being out that far?
  11. I don't necessarily disagree with some of what you are saying, but if they could only keep half as many, then we would be twice as far ahead.
  12. I would love to see them knock the limit down on perch, and maybe a size minimum as well. Maybe help to sustain the fishery? I'm no biologist but I've seen many places on the ice where there are just tons of little perch being taken that maybe have a filet a little bigger than a cigarette. They are fun to catch and taste good, lets keep 'em around! I'll get off my soap box now.
  13. I agree Sean. We run that quite a bit through different rifles. The best load I have used so far in this gun besides the one mentioned above has been with 4064, around 42 grains if I can remember right. The 120 Barnes TTSX ( Thanks DVD) shoots fairly well too but this combo seems to be what my rig likes best at the moment.
  14. What powder in Federal Premium? Just taking a shot in the dark here. Does anyone have any idea what powder Federal uses in their Premium Rifle line? I was playing with my 7-08 and the federal premium behind a 140 gr Nosler partition performed the best out of my gun. Obviously, I would like to be able to reproduce with handloads. Thanks for any info. Eat Organic, Shoot Nosler, DJ
  15. I have gone to small log binders and chains on every stand instead of ratchets. I too had a friend leave the same straps on for multiple years and ended up getting dumped from 18 ft. Got lucky with only a dislocated shoulder, but it could have been much worse, he just missed a protruding branch that was driven in the ground. That would have been lights out.
  16. Beautiful Pup!
  17. I remember my dad telling me he used the one with the red eyes for pike in Canada in the 70's. I'm interested to know what those sticks are?
  18. I don't see the weight as a huge issue, as most of the time to really shoot accurately I would want a rest, mainly due to the very heavy triggers inherent in most crossbows. One thing I focused on when I bought one last year for my dad was width. If I remember correctly the 10 pt G3 was about 21" wide? That's a lot to maneuver around and watch out for limb contact on the shot, especially if you are in a ground blind. I think the minimum width in NYS for some reason is 17". Good luck in your search Mike. For what its worth, I ended up buying him a PSE Fang 350. Not top of the line by any means but it shoots well.
  19. One lady I work with has a son who served on the Fitzgerald. He finished up 6 months ago. He is having a hard time as you can imagine.
  20. Awesome!
  21. That's a great idea.
  22. X3 I had a neighbors German Shepard damn kill our beagle. Owner never did a thing about it.
  23. Are there boat/motor size restrictions on Cayuta?
  24. I would love to see a walleye stocking program in the central fingerlakes.
  25. Be careful with the mods. I would do them one at a time and test the board. I did a few of suggested mods and they didn't work out as advertised.
