Gotta love Lakers when the kings haven't showed or you can't find them, keeps you busy at the back of the boat! The Laker population is strong and healthy!

May 1st Headed East out of port down towards Olcott and set up in 40ft of water! It was a slow start for us for the first hour of fishing boating 3 lakers. As the sun got up we started popping more fish! Mostly Lake trout but throw in some teenage kings in there also and some coho! We had a good day lost count at 25 fish boated! 8 rod spread 4 rigger rods, slide diver, torpedo diver, and 2 planer boards. Riggers parked anywhere from the bottom up to the top 20ft of water and anywhere from 20-55ft off the ball and the divers im not sure what my dad set the slide diver at. I know it was on a number 3 setting, but Torpedo was with a 25ft lead and 125-180ft back. Fished between 40 and 100 fow all day! Best lure for us was the Finger Lakes Tackle Radiation Gator spoon with the hammered back, but got fish on the Caramel Dolphin, FLT KOS in the original version and radiation pattern. Surface temp 42.9-44.4 and speed anywhere from 2.2-2.7mph. May 2nd This day headed West out of port and set up a couple miles down the lake. Right in front of my uncles house in 60fow. 6 rod spread 4 riggers, slide diver, and torpedo. All set ups the same! We crushed the lakers all day between 60-110fow! We landed into some nice lakers and also pulled out some teenage kings again. Surface temp 42.6-43.9, speed same 2.2-2.7. Best lure was again the FLT Gator Radiation spoon! But also a Michigan Stinger Goby pattern, FLT Black Mamba, and FLT KOS Radiation. Lost count at 35 fish landed. May 3rd Same as the day before ran west out of port and had the exact same set up! We caught a lot more kings this day. Fished 80-150fow lost count at 30 fish boated. Best lure FLT Gator Radiation. Also ran a white green dot spinny with an All About Fishing (AAF) white green fly! All in all great weekend! 100+ fish in the boat over 3 days! I'd definitely like to give a shout out to Finger Lakes Tackle company and AAF Trolling flies for making great fish catching baits! We will be up there Thursday-Sunday! I am currently in the process of editing all the GoPro footage from this weekend and I will make another thread when the video is done and uploaded. Cdq's dad here been runnin wire slide diver over12 yrs. no need to run them with mono can if u want but run better on wire no belly like mono better depth control need to run wire small strong barrel swivel then 45 ft. Of 40/50# mono so slide diver can be set any were between 8ft to 45 ft away. After heavy mono I run another barrel then 8ft. 20# fluorocarbon . On roller wire rod very smooth. I have run my clear slide diver so long it has yellowed. Can also switch to regular dipsey I use my wire slide diver shallow /deep/offshore. Caught kings/ Steelies /lakers/Atlantics. Caught 6 fish on it this past weekend.fleas can be a pain they shake off for most part.
So just thought I'd start a thread to see who has caught Atlantic Salmon in their life! I've been reading the reports and seems like everyone is catching them which is an awesome sign! I caught my first Atlantic at 10 years old! 10 pounds caught on a slide diver on the Bar in the spring! And every year since then we have seem to at least put one Atlantic under our belt, whether trolling or fly fishing! So I want people to share the number of Atlantics they've caught and also some pictures!

My dads buddy Tim got his boat ready last night and we headed up to the Lake to fish today! Lines were set at 7am and we went on a westward troll. My dads buddy Tim made some make shift planer boards out of water skis and we had a 4 rod spread, 2 on each board. Lines set anywhere from 50-125ft behind the boat. Got about 3/4 of a mile down the shoreline and turned back east in 8ft of water. No color west of the creek. We got to the mouth of the creek and picked up the first brown of the year. Came on the inside rod 80ft back on a brown trout pattern J-7 jointed Rapalla. We trolled east a little bit changed up our spread and turned back west in 10ft of water. Got back to the mouth and the inside rod fired. This one on a J-9 black and copper jointed Rapalla. After that nothing. 2-2 on the day! Most of the colored water was east of the mouth and at the mouth of the creek! 6-12ft of water we trolled. A lot of logs and debris in front. No ice bergs! All in all not a bad day! Got the first fish of the year so can't complain. Wisdom teeth came out yesterday but nothing stopped me from getting out. I have video of both fish on the Go-Pro! Its edited and should be up on YouTube in a couple of hours. I will link it if you would like to see it.

Again every year the Lake Trout and Salmon winner comes from Niagara county! Also it is scientifically proven that the west end is the calmest part of the lake specifically Wilson and Olcott. No need to run far out at all on the west end.
