Seeing a lot around. Normally don't target them in the early season but as a result of the new deer regs in the area I hunt I think I'm going to hit it hard early. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Pretty sure 8c dmp's are still renewed upon harvest confirmation at Avon. If so I'm going to help out a lot of friends in the first two weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. This reg was tabled some time ago and I heard about it, but I didn't think it would be pushed through so quickly. I still don't get it. Tags issued and antler restrictions affect harvest more so than limiting time in the field. I wonder how many more year and a half bucks are killed opening day of gun compared to the first few weeks of bow. If visits to my processor are any indication the early bow season is slow. 4. I live in 8c and hunt it primarily as well as 8A. As recently as two years ago when you harvested a doe with a 8C DMP, if you brought the head to the DEC in Avon, they replaced your tag with an EITHER fun loving tag. 8c is loaded with deer but now they are concerned with numbers???? 8c is bow only and it's ridiculous that the restrictions apply to the area. 8. Looks like it was a pretty good day. Should be an interesting day tomorrow. Being stuck working all weekend I'm looking forward to see how it all shakes out. Good luck to all. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. I think most fall birds are incidental during bow season for deer
  10. Make sure someone knows that you are going and where as well as an approximate time of return. Make sure your radio and cell phone are working. My boat is wide open at the stern and I don't get to close to it working rods or netting fish. It would suck to go overboard without someone to spin around and retrieve you. I fish solo a lot but Im pretty careful when I do.
  11. Probably a good idea, thanks for posting
  12. Great looking fish! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Working Thursday through Tuesday. Really stinks, the Sandy Shootout is a blast. Great bunch of people and truly an event that anyone can cash in. If you've never fished above LOC, this is the one to try. Contact any of the Sandy guys (Legacy, Silver Fox, Escape, Addiction, etc etc ) and they will help you out. 14. Welcome to the site!
  15. Great fish though, would love to see a pic and hear the story. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. And a lot of respect as well. Brian is a great fisherman and arguably the best laker fisherman out there. His success is only overshadowed by his willingness to share his knowledge and tactics freely to anyone that asks. There are a lot more people fishing lakers than ever and Brians success and generosity has a lot to do with it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. 50 degrees down 85 in 100 and comes up fairly quickly, 50 down 65 in 250. Good numbers on low teens kings and small bows. A bonus jumbo Atlantic and a high teens laker. Really no pattern to it, all rods took fish. Current is a little annoying but minimal fleas and biting flys. Going deep in the am. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Offshore has been good weather permitting. Bluefin bite has been good at the dump. Would have liked to have gone offshore for yellowfin but just didn't have the time. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  20. Did some bottom jigging off Martha's Vinyard today and had a great time. Black Sea Bass to Six lbs as well as a couple jumbo Fluke. Was a great change of pace as well as some great eating. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Nothing better than a big Brown. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. I would take my fish hawk before my graph any day. Speed and temp are crucial. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. Jeremy Goodisons king out of Sandy the other day is a perfect example. Pretty fish and pound for pound at their strongest. Should you choose to eat one, big diff between firm flesh in June to dip a cracker in it soft in the fall. Biggest brown I ever caught was mid June and have had some crazy offshore action in June as well. If you have the time off and good weather as well, get out and fish.
