I don't know why but it has happened to every slide diver I try. I thumb them out using a convector30. Def not just flipping the bail and sinking it. I think damage is occurring after the trip motion with the rod. Rich I'm at ur marina I will show up with one rigged and u can tell me what I'm screwing up. Well after my problems with line cutting into my slide divers last year (mono), I gave the light bites a try hoping the arm would keep the line away long enough that the slide diver wouldn't get destroyed. But the end result was the same thing. This is after running the diver for about 3 hrs....
i was right next to your friend and we went 5/7 with 2 of those being the smallest kings ive ever caught. we didnt land a single brown which was the bulk of his catch. he just seems to crush them every trip. even had alot of the same spoons in the water!
i am in the minority but ill attach a picture (the line at the lure end eats into my diver knicking up the line). if you do a search you can see a thread I made last year about this.
people crush the fish with slide divers, give them a shot. for color i like black best.
