replacing copper with weighted steel wire line
Xxx replied to rolmops's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Really interested in the leadcore if it works like proposed. I guess if you run them strictly off of boards it would work with 30 or 40 foot of mono. I have run leadcore for years and I'm kinda confused about. I was taught that leadcore to work effectively must come through the water such as -------'----- this but wavey with the water currents? So now in my mind or was of thinking is if you don't let out at least the length of the core in backer the core is coming through the water on a angle with maybe the lure on depth but the rest angled towards the surface? Or am I all wet!! -

4 Vector Heavy Metal Downriggers For Sale
Xxx replied to Iron Duke's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
One of my favorite shows was on the Fishing channel yesterday "Great Lakes Fishermen" I think they were fishing Michigan, it looked like the background was that city, anyway those Vectors were on the charter captains boat, and they talked about the durability of these riggers, also they had auto stop, automatically deploy to the same depth. These riggers will be my next set of riggers, oh, they also yo-yo and track bottom contours. The simplicity of these riggers also got my attention!! Plus they have costumer service line that someone actually answers . good luck with the sale and folks don't be afraid to purchase these riggers just because they are not a brand we all are familiar with, I just bought a set of mag 20's off a LOU member or I'd purchase these, put 2 on my boat, sell the other 2 and have my riggers paid for. LOL! Always have to be thinking ahead. -
Tit Lok Rod holder with clamp
Xxx replied to GAMBLER's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Damn that's a deal, why couldn't it be a flat base. I can't reach the rail, I don't have a walk around cuddy, if so it would be sold!! I like those holder, at $40+ they don't break the bank. Might not have all the bells & whistles but there're sturdy and well made. I watch the walleye tournaments and there are more big shots than you think running Tite Loks. -

Took me a bit Les, you mean the Berkley line counter itself? Yea I bought one so I knew how much backer I was putting on each reel as I was doing 6 reels and I was putting on Berkley big game on and the counter flew apart before I had the 6th reel done. . I see what your doing now Rolmops, making a multi purpose reel to cover all the lengths of wire. I saw a #55 line counter reel at our local bait shop, that thing looked huge, filled with wire, you might have to buy one of those rod holder that goes around your body and over your shoulders like suspenders on the count of weight!! Just for the rod & reel!! It will as heavy as a battery till you put all that metal line and weighted line on top yet!! LOL -

I'm asking a general question ROLO, why would put a 1000. Feet of steel and another 300. Feet of this newer weighted line? I'm more interested as to why you would need a 1000. Feet of backer of any kind? I'm not being an ass. -

Excellent job guys, and beautiful looking dogs!! That yote looks like a drowned rat I've only ever hunted with dogs twice in my lifetime. Once was a very exciting time and got to see the yote flying through the woods which my brother was further down than I he shot em stone dead with #4 buck. The other time the coyote went on a strait line into another county, which we tried to get in front of the dogs and we were to late, they crossed the road and they were headed towards a town, so we cut them off before that happened. Was a long day and was told this happens sometimes. Awesome job and congrats to your outings!! PAP?

I've had many different recipes made up, given to me from many secret places. I litterly made hundreds of pounds of jerky in my jerky carear, first off costs to make a brine is very expensive. Worcestershire sauce is costly, and the soy sauce plus the spices and cure salts. The biggest problem with the homemade brines is consistency, even if you used different brands from soy sauce to soy sauce and the Worcestershire sauce, Lea & Perrins verses store brand will change the flavor a lot. I found a place from Colorado that makes a sweet/hot mix that my kids love!! I buy it in 10lbs. bags and it takes X amount of o/z's per 5lbs. of meat you mix it with cold water and add meat and mix by hand till the mix is all absorbed by the meat. It feels tacky, and I put the meat into a gallon Ziplock bag and remove as much air as possible and let it in the refridguater flipping occasionally for 24hrs. Before going into the smokehouse, which I do it in a outdoor smokehouse I use propane for heat and a small woodstove outside and add my smoke by hooking a piece of stove pipe to the smokehouse. I use 6" pipe into the smoker with a damper so I can control the heat and exhauste the smoker with a 3" stove pipe with a damper. But getting back to the brines, I'm very happy I found this mix, lord help me should this company close up!! LOL

Take a good look at who was doing the looting and smashed the glass out of Starbucks, and set that car on fire. Like posted above why work when there reaping the profit of our tax dollars. At $750 per child and theirselves at whatever you paid in towards your SSI, not much for those people so they need the income from the children. Black white brown their all as guilty as the rest. A job are you kidding me!! Life is grand just the way it is!!!

for sale : usa WTB Pedistal Boat Seats
Xxx replied to grumpy cat's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I think this will clarify what exactly your looking for. Good luck with your purchases, I have one but you can't remove the chair from the base, it came out of a boat I bought 2-3 years ago, that I use around home to pull the kids tube around on. You don't want that type. Its always in the way. If it were removable I would have left it in, but you still have that big bubble there. Just something for the kids to stumble over. -

Are you looking for the recessed type where you need to cut a 3" hole in the floor but they're flush with the floor, or the bubble type that the seat pedestal sits into above the floor?? -

WOW, that's fantastic guys!! Those are some beautiful looking fish for sure, not surprised about the lure of choice and of course the colors that seem to prevail year after year!! I'm still puzzled by the Coho Crusher, certainly goes against all the theories of looking natural!! Congrats to you guys!! Definatly a better choice than watching the presidential inauguration but any day on Lake'O is better than being many places I can think of!!! What a way to kickoff the 2017 season. -
A question for Brown Trout Specialist
Xxx replied to youp50's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Yes, that's what all my reels have except my leadcore and rigger rods, as said above some guys use their rigger poles and leader down to 6 through 15# whatever suits your water conditions. I leader down to 8# flurocarbon line you can either join the lines with whatever knots you prefer, I use a #10 or 8 SPRO swiveles, I feel as if I get the most action out of a lure or spoon with a shorter piece of line able to act as natural as possible, everyone has their own way, they feel has been most successful with. With the heavier lines many just use a 1/4 o/z Splitshot to keep the bait under the surface of the water. -
cable hummmmmm
Xxx replied to Craigaf's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Many veteran trollers don't need a speed control, as many years they have been successful without the technology we have and still struggle with, their ears played a major role in their success, and that hum or tone of the rigger cable is ingrained in their head. They have been very successful with the tone or the hum!! -

Congrats Nautitroller!! That's a nice haul!! Who would think January 19th fishing out of a boat??, I know my next boat will be a outboard!! This sucks now, it's nice to be fish but with all the bull shyt you have to do with an out board. I'm going to make my boat so easy to get at to drain the block, that's the bytch of it. I'm going to screw in a brass fitting that except 3/8 or 1/2" hose and put the fitting in the end of the hose wherei can easily get too it and open the valve done deal, as of now I can't get to the port side where the power steering cooler and heavy cables to the starter. I need to make this easier so I can use my boat during this type of winters!!

I use a decoy, Cabela's carries a yote decoy. I use on when I have someone going along otherwise it's just to much, I only use it when there's good light at night, the yotes do let there guard down a little. They keep an eye on the decoy which allows you to move your gear if need be for the shot. If like now I use a cotton ball with a close pin or a big staple like what's used for house wiring with female in heat scents or when just calling latter in the year I'll use a rabbits scent. And I alway use a pure skunks scents for a cover scent that I use a clothespin to attach to a branch of a bush or tree, kind of hide it above eye heights.
