    Questions

Well while you guys are crunching #'s and talking about size, let's turn the calendar back say 30 years. We had property on the Perch River, some probable remember the guys saying "years ago you could walk across the salmon they were so thick in the rivers" this is or should I say was the truth. What happened to that population? Another factor to toss into the number crunching is I saw many of guys boxing 2-3 year olds, the past two years. Our we shooting ourselves in the foot once again. Before we didn't have prey fish with the rights vitamins to support natural reproduction, but now the gobies help support that case. At first we thought that the gobies were shallow water dwellers, 30-40ft, while we were drop shotting in 60ft of water for bass and catching gobies out to 70ft we knew this theory was false, and the lakers spitting up gobies from the greater depths, this so called shallow dweller. The older years of fish were in there 35 pushing 40lds, now if you land a high 20- mid 30 you have a mounter!! So has the breeding of the same fish over & over resulted in smaller fish. Why not do what the founders of the kings did and introduce a new strain into the population of the kings we have. I'd have to say that the Canadians are more advanced in there technical data to be able to detect a problem should it be. There is one advantage the Canadians have over the USA. New York itself has to foot these bills as the Canadians have the whole providence or country behind them, that's a big difference.
  3. Math works out to $9.23 so $9.25 which is very reasonable price!! For the lure alone, yet customized with a good hand at the airbrush!! Good luck with your sale. If I wouldn't have made 2 big hauls of lures this week I'd take them all!!
  4. Love the pic.of the young lady holding the future bird dog!! Priceless pic. Congrats to all your hunts and next year you'll have a new companion!!
  5. You guys did great!! Just one more kick to the groin, From Social media. Sorry to hear fella's. This will be the demise of all good spots no matter what outdoor activity!!
  6. Hey Gene, PAP here, how's it looking for us this spring. You mentioned the end of June for us. They will be totally off the spawn and hopefully on the feed, I'm looking to have 4 guys, how's it looking so far. You know I can't remember who the hell the others are but I have them booked marked, they are defiantly in. They go out of shangrala  or something something like that I know where it is not far from us, like by cherry island. Well let me know what you have going on and I'll get some $$$ in your hands so we get locked in. My cell # 1-570-982-5645 Mike aka pap

  9. nothing like being an ass by not giving a person that's the only way one could swing such a thing a chance. Greed will get you no where, bad Karma will always bite you in the >>
  10. Hmmm it doesn't say choose photo library, or video, just a blank screen? And you have a pic library file on the device your using,
  11. To add a pic. click or touch the click to choose file or if you see the paper clip looking symble. Choose the pic you want you will see a check mark on that picture, on the top you will see done or finish click on that word, then you will see uploading pic. If you like what you see click submit reply, it's a lot easier then the old way plus you can see your pic you've chosen before you hit submit.
  12. That would be nice to know Whaler, maybe the young lady didn't miss?? Gambler I would highly believe that someone did pick that yote up if it didn't have to much road rash, it probably looked pretty cool having those markings!! Either way its 1 less to prey on the younger population of deer and other critters that weaken through the winter.
  13. When they first came out there was no cabelas around, no local sporting good store around here would handle such a book. I resorted to ordering directly from Mark himself I paid $36.00 for the very first one which the pages weren't laminated and the pages stuck together, so I called Mark to order another and he informed me, this happened to lots of others. They then improved the pages with a laminated page which he sent me another free. I asked if there was going to be more and he said yes, so I asked to be notified when a new publish was made would he notify me and he did, so I have ever one ever published. The most I paid was $39.00 and I thought that was a lot, not meaning a lot for the book but a lot of money at the time. Still in school making $3.75hr as a dishwasher for a restaurant around home. I still remember my dad saying "your crazy spending your money on those books" I wonder what he'd say if he were with us today that the books are going for a buck and a half nowadays!!
  14. Although these aren't Koboom they are YO-ZURI lures, that we had stumbled across at a local sporting goods store, they were priced in the low teens from what I could make out through the red pen mark then marked to $9.99, they had these in a 50% off bin. The pics suck because I didn't want to remove all for this pic. I just took one out but they all have the prism aspect to them and they are all 3-1/2"s where the Kabooms are 4-1/2"s. This was my birthday gift from my wife, and my daughters and God Child both got me 2 Cabelas gift cards!! I guess they know what my passion for the outdoors is!! and the ladies are spot on. A man can never have enough fishing gear!!
  15. Here is a pic. of my lures not the best pic. but it will work for now, little different procedure for pics. but I like it better than the other way.
  16. Congrats to the ladies in your life!! Burglars beware that dog your wife is holding is a big one, the daughters is no slouch either.
  17. LoL it's not that I don't have the room it's the extra$$$ I don't have so my way of doing it I have the reels loaded and I switch out rods, my rigger rods become LC rods. Most not everyone on Erie runs lead core and the set backs so the whole core is coming through the water like a snake and up & down with the currants, and most eye fisherman on Ontario do the same. Our set backs are also to get the baits away from the boat. If it's working for you, who am I to say it's not right. Tight lines to you. Stay warm. Spring can't get here any sooner for me!!
  18. So your saying that a 5 color 27# I figure it at 5' per color at 2mph that you'll reach 25 ft with horizontal core in the water with a 20ft lead and you will achieve 35 ft with a 5 core a twenty foot of mono and 2 more colors added?
  19. Well it sounds good in theory but, normally you would run say 2 or 3 colors on 1 reel. You want your 2-3 colors of lead core in the water, than another 100-150 feet of mono behind it. And say a five color with 100 feet back. So your 20ft if backer isn't going to work. So if you go with 3 colors you will have 90ft of LC in the water with say 15 ft of backer would 105ft back. Only 15ft of backer isn't going to let the core settle into its depth, especially your deeper cores, with only 20ft of backing and with the broken up pieces in there. Most guys use a heavier mono for backing I use 20# Trilene big game to relieve the shock of the fish as there's no stretch in leadcore or in braid. You could get away with braid by setting the drag lighter. With the 20ft of backer in between colors, I think they would act alone and not all one, your going with 5 then 2 then 2 again, now these colors are broken up with 20ft if braid. It's not going to act like a true 7 or a true 9 with 150, 200 ft of mono out so the whole piece of lead core that is getting wavey in the water by the natural water currents. We use line counters for this very reason if a 7 color with 175ft backer out and the others at say 150 are getting hits then that outfit will come into the 150ft mark. The most important thing is when using LC reels is that they are full so the numbers are close to the same. Especially if the set backs are the key to success. Hope this makes sense?? PAP
  20. Today I received my kaboom lures all 17 of them!! I never really looked at a Kaboom lure before but I'm very glad I took advantage of this sale!! They are an impressive looking lure kind of a cross between a stick bait, and a reef runner, with that slight curve to them. Can't wait till the Browns come in the spring, to give them a taste of a Kaboom lure!!. . Thanks Nick it was a pleasure dealing with you!!
  21. Thanks Kevin and I'm pretty sure I remember you vac-pac also. Les's way is also a good way to freeze fish by adding water, that basically defeats the dehydration process of a frost free freezer. I slice my jerky into 3/16" and freeze in 5 pound quantities I've just used the last of my meat from 2 years ago. I didn't hear any complaints, trust me my girls aren't afraid to tell pop, this isn't as good as your other batches.
  22. YEEOWW, that don't look good!! Congrats on the coon!! Where did all the water come from?? We had rain but not enough to cloud up the streams
  23. AWW Man Tim that sucks, that's definitely a lot more costly way of getting a deer let alone 2 with your vehicle. at least your ok!! But it is a pain in the ass until you get your wheels back. Well I hope you got good meat out of them anyway!!
  24. I can't say or agree more with Justin!! Out of season to me is hands off!! If it were hunting season what does the "season is closed mean" I'm sure you don't sit in your stand with a tranquilizer gun shoot the big buck run down the tree get a pic, and get back in your stand and wait for the next monster to come through? If it's out off season such as bass, you can catch huge females with no talents at all. I call it stupid fishing, you cast anywhere close to the nest and you've got a fish on, meanwhile the thousands of gobys are have a feast on her eggs while the male tries to save what's left of the nest, there's even proof that the male bass will actually die from exhaustion fighting off the gobys. About ten years ago I was fishing for eyes, nothing was going on so we went to a place where we do good for perch, unknown to us this area a little to the west of where we were is a spawning area for bass, soon a personal watercraft approached us and you know how I feel about those things!! Well it was the fish commission, he boards our boat looks in all the livewells that had nothing in. He checks out the boat and us for our licenses. Then he asked us to move further away so we didn't bother the spawning grounds. Now we have way more interferences with fish spawning then ever with many different species and they allow catch&release with the bass.WTF my uncles bass fish a lot and they have seen a big decline in population, because they don't even see them on their finders. Certainly one could argue this issue, they need to change tactics, there deeper now ect,ect but catch & release is not going to benefit the fish or the fisherman unless your proud to take a pic of a fish out of season. My personal best eye I caught, was when I was brown fishing, she stayed in the water till I took the only hook that she had, 1-2 more head shakes I would have never seen her, and she was loaded with eggs, I'm sure she went about her business. No pics. Just get her back where she belongs. I had a chance to show people a 12-13# eye, but it's no trophy to me, she's out of season. Kind of like getting a buck mounted that one shoots at night.
