Thanks Les, Jann's is where I got the createx paint, they have the base paint for what ever you want to use, I just watched a lot of Utube vids. And a lot of those guys say to use the automotive type paints for durability, and createx has a oil base paint also. Plus the transparent paints are more available in the oil base paints.

I can relate to this as sometimes in the flintlock season which is last thing to hunt with? This stupid state of Pa. Should have the flintlock season with the archery season for a week or so, the doe's that get shot late in the season have little ones in them!! It nearly puts you on your knees if you have a heart!!

Last year my daughters got me a airbrush for Christmas. I've been practicing and I feel as if I'm ready to try my hand at some spoons. What I haven't decided on is the type of paint I want to use. I've been practicing with Createx paint but in water base, they have some wicked colors and I have impressed myself not sounding stuck up. Createx also makes a automotive type paint which the fumes, and cleaning is a little more involved but that's not really a problem. I'm wondering which or what type of paints do you guys use for durability. Also where do you guys get your scale stencils or the scales cloth that you can put over any shape. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks PAP.

Unfortunately this is true, but there have been stands stolen in our neck of the woods and believe it or not it isn't our fellow hunting buddies. I was asked to keep an eye on a stand that a very nice man gave me permission to hunt his land. He owns a winery, and deer aren't his best freind, one day I drove up to where I sit and I noticed these younger, say teenagers hiding in the fence row so I got my binoculars out and sure as shyt they had the top sections down all ready, so I drove over that way and they ran away from the road, I thought that was odd, seeing that all the parts were still there I hightailed it to the only blacktop road that's closest to the property. There sat a beater of a car import. I think it was a bunch of kids that were going to steal it for dope money!! I called the owner and he stayed with the car untill the cops showed up, the cars tag didn't go with the auto and it was impounded by the state police. If I wouldn't have got a wild hair brain idea, his stand would have been stolen for sure, and not by another hunter. Younger gen. People driven by drugs, you could tell just by their appearance!! Sucks

Hey Nautitroller, trolling? By way of the blacktop, or as I call it my rolling tree stand, or by water, either way had did you do!! Yea thanks for the congrats!! Been along time I had to laugh to myself a few times!! I had to think I used to cut the Ahole and bladder out in one step? I was like WTF OOHH Ya now I get it. I used to peel deer off for a butcher up the road by me Delbert Haydt, he was a hell of nice guy & funny. And we did a few of those type of requests, buy a guy I went to school with, he has a restaurant and specializes in different types of animal meats, deer, buffalo mountain goat, that type of thing. He's always busy, he's right on a big money golf course, so Dave isn't ever low on venisonLOL. Take care my man!!

The best thing Pa. Did was make it legal to shoot sabots out of our flintlock, those round ball bastards just poke a hole in one side, and if you were lucky enough to get a pass through shot your chances were pretty good for tracking, they worked allright if you hit bone or in the vitals. There is a guy around here that specializes in flintlock works. He reworks the flash hole, and leads the powder pan and striker so no powder leaks out, I have a Cornstalker, I forget the name,LOL but I love that gun, I have shot the biggest 6 pointer I ever shot with my flintlock, the other thing I did that made a big difference is I put fiber optic sights on it. My flintlock has minimal delay when you touch her off, plus I had trigger work done to it also. The guy that did the work was Keystone shooting supplies, the father does the gun sales while his son has a machine shop and does all the rebuilds and repairs, the guy knows his shyt. Oh I forgot I put a Green Mountain barrel on it also, the reason why is the original barrels were designed to shoot patch and ball. So the rifling is machined to deep for the sabot bases to seal off all the gasses. The Green Mountain barrels are made to shoot sabots. They definitely made a big difference, under 50 yards they just about fall over, and if not you can follow the blood trail no problem!!

Les what your seeing out your window is what happened to the hunting around here. There are so many developments anymore and all theses nit-wits feed them, they only venture into the woods during the rut and when the beech nuts and acorns are of abundance. The guys that shoot these bigger bucks are litterly watching these folks eat dinner, the deer that get shot around these developments litterly have hooves that curl up. With the archery season these deer get shot. The first crack of a rifle barrel and they all run into the developments and they don't come out. The game com. Was supposed to fine those who feed them, but that never happened. They had talked about putting plain close people in the developments to push them out, but the treehuggers threatened to do everthing or anything to stop this, well I'm not getting shot over a deer. There is a local farmer from around here that makes more $$$ selling corn to the city slickers then he makes selling it on the market price. $25.00 for 50# bag, can't hate the farmer for making money, but the dumb ass state should make it illegal to feed the deer and enforce the law!! With the inner breeding of these deer its crippling the gene pool. Now the game commission is afraid of diseases that would run rampant and litterly cripple our deer population plus the states that surround the state. Don't get me wrong they shoot a lot of huge deer in Pa. but not the body size of your NY. Deer, most of the bigger deer are north, south and west of where I live, the bigger deer definitely come from farmlands with big woods surroundings. On another note I went out to our local bait shop they also have a butcher shop, and process deer, I asked how's the deer buisness is, they said POOR, with all the rain and it's been blowing like hell here since the start of the season, Monday. This Monday starts doe season so see what happens. I hate to be like this but I hope they don't kill off to bad.
