On our way to and from our camp in the Black River Camp Ground, we go right past the exit on RT. 81. to the hatchery. I had been there before in the season, when snagging was legal, just to watch the process, it's one of the most interesting things I've ever watched being done, and 3 years ago I took my daughters there and for 8 year old girls to say that was really neat dad, can we come back when the little fishes hatch so we can see them, that's really something to me!! Just the mounts and all the map size information of every fish they deal with is worth the trip. If every salmon, trout, and differant specie fisherman/lady would go to the hatchery before heading to the streams/rivers I think it would paint a differant pic. in their mind and maybe, just maybe one would have more of an idea of what goes on for yourself to be able to catch a fish.

Absolutely FL, you stole that deal get the power plant running in the old boat, even if you need to hang a gas line in a small container add the muffs cranker up watch the gauges if all looks good, put the whole deal right in place of yours. That's super Larry, eyes on hands on goes way further than a book with no pics. My wife's a 5th grade teacher also. The kids first dissect night crawlers, then they dissect trout, every year I ask different hatcheries for 6 trout for the kids and ever hatchery wants to donate, so they get the results back of what's going on with their trout on the inside. Three years ago they found a parasite in them that would cause the fish to die if not treated. So by simply adding a white liquid into the water which dissolved into the many gallons of water solved the problem. The hatchery gave the whole 5th grade a tour of the hatchery, pretty cool, nice to see the old school tactics still alive in the schools classrooms, instead of a lot of shyt crammed down their throats weather they get or not on to the next topic.

if these guys are over harvesting and selling anything off these fish, then by all means this is wrong!! Especially if natural reproduction of any sort is happening. These folks pay no taxes, get food stamp and are on welfare, here on a visa or illegally so now their selling the fish parts, since they have nothing invested it's all PROFIT. It means nothing to them, as long as they have $$$ in their pocket they don't give a shyt. To compare what they are doing to going 70 in a 65 mph zone is like comparing apples to oranges, yes it's illegal but your no taking a natural resource away that made you money. I know did I ever break the law absolutely. When I got off the bus the last day of my senior year, I was told I needed to find my own place to live, the winter of 82 was cold very cold. I got a job working construction and worked enough to collect unemployment, I remember it was less the $75, so every two weeks I got $150, I lived off the church I belonged to they got government surplus cheese, powered milk, so all I needed to buy was noodles, and I needed to shoot a deer. I lived on mac & cheese and deer meat. My freezer was Mother Nature, my father showed me how to skin a deer and hang them in a tree where they froze, oh I forgot I also got peanut butter from the church. After 3 years my mom and dad got a divorce, and I bet the landing gear on the plane wasn't up and my father was at my run down trailer to bring me home. So yea I broke the law I shot deer out of season, to survive, not to sell!!!! I look at things way differantly to this day.

This is the fish gods condolences to all the the guys that works their ass off, during the pen rearing prodjects down to the egg and milt extractors and all the sciences that are needed to keep this sought after fish by the millions of fisher folks who bring millions of $$$ into the NY state locals!! I've got my fingers crossed it happens!!!
