  1. I totally agree, thanks for the info. I got a story for you guys. 4-5 years ago my brother and I were hunting on this piece of property he had permission from the land owner, but it was a verbal, we didn't even get in the woods yet and a town cop pulled up while we were getting our gear together. He said someone called and said there were hunters in a private property area. My brother explained he was the contractor in the course area and had permission from the owner, he said the deer were doing major damage to the greens. Now this is in January so nobody is golfing, plus it's surrounded by hundreds of acres of woods. We were told to get written permission then we could go hunting, so my brother gets written permission and don't you know the same thing happens but a differant officer, Faron shows his written permission and the officer says have a nice day guys and good luck, and by the way I like deer meat also, we will take care of ya, probably see next Saturday. Here's where it gets scary, my brother was battling cancer at the time so I told him to go out on the surveyors path and I'll go around and make a chase down to you, give me 15 minutes, ok. I gave him time cause he couldn't go like he used to, about 10 minutes into my walk around I heard him scream my name!! All I could think of is he fell and broke something!! I ran as fast as I could to get to him, WTF going on he's standing in a weird position, he's screaming help me!! I get up to him and he has 3 triple hooks in his thighs 1 in his rear end. Here some one was using fishing wire with triple hooks baited with meat hanging from tree branches and he got 3 of them in him, luckily I had my leathermans with me I cut the cable then I cut the hooks out of him. So I cut all I could find down and kept them. On our way out we stopped at the Stroudsburg area police station and handed the cop what we found and told him about the hooks in my brother. I told him he better go to whoever called every time we went on that property, there's a reason he didn't want anyone on there. We found out later that a coyote was found dead hanging on a wire with a triple hook in its throat, the game commission asked if we would show them where we found these hooks. I never heard if anyone was ever caught. But talk about a complete azz hole!! There's no doubt in my mind it was the guy who called the cops but they couldn't prove anything. Now that's what I call an unethical piece of shyt. We returned to the property but walked with caution!! He did this to eradicate the yotes and everything that was a threat to "HIS" deer.
  2. Holy wow batman, that's a steal!!!, man I wish you had some pics!!! What motor does it have?
  3. Maybe that's why the guys in Alaska use plastic newspaper boxes with a section cut out for the conibear arms to fit into and always up high, maybe an ostrich could stick it's head in from the ground, but I haven't seen any of them lately, oh ya they migrate south the first Saturday in September!! LOL this site is awesome!!! PAP
  4. If you can't borrow the tooling or if someone doesn't do it for you look into renting the tools, I know advance auto lends out tools, maybe you guys have something like that up there? Or a rental place that carries other things like chippers ect. They sometimes have a lot of stuff that you don't see, hey ask that never hurt anyone, it's a shame it's so far away I'd do it for ya, you just supply the parts. LOL
  5. Congrats to you wishinfishin, that was perfectly said and to the point with all the legalities incorporated into the post. Last year this thread went from start to finish without one problem, which really floored me. Now the third page of this thread we have 1 hick up already from a newbee, UUUGGG!!!
  6. Holy shyt!! Yea that's a no brainer, I'm starting to feel for the poor sole, might as well pull the whole damn works and do it right!! Those 4 bangers are a cheap fix compared to the newer stuff out there, that's for sure, hopefully if there's only a slight ridge in the cylinders, using a ridge cutter and a good honing with the stone and then a cross hatch hone, all you'll need is rod & main bearings, might as well put a oil pump in also, I'd say 5 bills if that and he'll have a nice piece of iron, oh yea i forgot about the heads, but you can usually tell with old eyeball LOL. That usually is a few extra $$$. Are you going to help him?? Good luck guys!!
  7. On a bright note a inboard is the cheapest fix as for a motor, rods and mains are easy, but cam bearing, need a special tool to install, how did you come up with need to replace cam bearings?
  8. Great to hear it's running, but not good on the knock. Don't forget that washer/shim isn't in there, maybe your sound could be coming from that? Or is the sound more deep and lower. Like a wrist pin or a bad bearing,, I'm pulling for ya bud!!!
  9. The most important factor I've read so far is be patient, your ship will come in. I could of kicked myself in the arsh many many times, as deals came up on here that were almost to good to be real!! Like what I paid for my boat plain Jane I could of bought 5-10 years newer all set to go fishing. Nearly makes me sick!! You do very well with what you have!! Piece it together over a period of time, as your deals come along and you'll be ahead by the thousands of $$$$
  10. X2 !! I have a wrench that's bent like off set right then strait for about a foot or more then offset left if I remember right there 9/16 box end. It helps having a whole snap-on box given to you from my father who's of 30 + years being a mechanic,
  11. What are the 9fters riggers or dipsy and same for the others riggers or?? Looking for lead core rods, have the reels, gets old switching off reels I certainly don't have room for more rods but you know us guys, we make room. Thank god for my cuddy, looks more like tackle shop that blew up. LOL
  12. Hey nice going there Bobby, gotta love those eyes!! Sorry to hear about your rigger weight that sucks that's a lot of lettuce down at the bottom of the drink I don't know one guy that didn't lose a rigger weight or two in their time of fishing with riggers,I've lost dipsies on the bottom also already, it happens to the best of guys also. Best of luck to ya the rest of the year One year we hit them heavy from that big concrete square out in 40-50ft heading towards the lighted red-green bouys. Might of been shyt luck that a school was headed out, also one year right as you come around association ils. Where it drops into the main lake. We kept trolling back & forth there, hitting pretty heavy, while the boys were ****ing nothing going on down here "trench" nice fish by the way!!
  13. When you go to time it make sure your rpm's stay below 650, if when timing it if it starts to gain rpm's keep backing the idle screw out to bring the rpm's below 650. You do this to keep the mechanical advance out of the scene, time her up to specs and lock the distributor down. The mechanical advance works with the rpm's of motor. If you did the timing say at 800 rpm the mechanical advance would be advancing the timing already then you would be off, say retarded at the whole rpm range because it already had advanced it's self. Sound like you got'er licked. Now you got a hell of an education, one you won't forget!!! LOL
  14. Yea that can get tricky, make sure you offer them Dramamine an hour before its take off time.
  15. Time to head out to the deep and get on the steelys and the 2 year olds or switch over to O'L Marbel eye, pretty soon the water will be wore out!!! LOL
  16. You'll be alright, Nick's a good man, now that I think about it didn't those motors have a nylon gear? Maybe the close tolerances on the run out might be that way to save those nylon gears, the new are metal, so it may be more tolerable. But it doesn't take much to jump the chain or constant wear on either side. I'd ask Nick about that.
  17. My buddy just called it went for $225.00, he didn't want to put that much into a 15 year old unit.
  18. I had one of those, 120hp in a 18ft Sea-Ray, that I did a total rebuild on years ago. I knew I had the Manuel I just had to find it,once I couldn't be sure of myself, this guys been through the ringer already!! I hope you have a rubber mallet to adjust his mechanical mind. LOL. Good luck, with it. The only thing that's bugging me is that washer, because they only allow .002.-006 run out with the washer??
  19. Yea I saw that one, but I thought I'd see if anyone on here had one first. I saw nobody even put a bid on it yet. I think tonight the last for. I'll just tell him to order that one. Thanks for the heads up!!
  20. L&M is the best boat mechanic I know he said the firing order is 1342. I'd bank on that!! So first put the plug wires on right. That motor is clockwise the #1 cylinder the the next wire goes to the 3rd cyl next wire goes to the 4th cylinder and last should be the #2 cyl the color grey wire should be going to the coil with a black going into the distr. The positive side on the coil should have a purple/yellow wire and a purple resistance wire running from the positive side of the coil to the ignition, only black running to the distributor. Here's a pic that should help ya
  21. It sounds to me the timing is a tooth off one way or another, that's the only way it will run kind of sort of, sometimes it's a **** to get that distributor to drop in perfect, the only way to be sure is if the distributor is in righ is if it's pointing at #1 cyl and the points are closed, take the valve cover off and make sure both #1 cyl.valves are closed, this is bullet proof that the timing is right. If the timing is correct, certain motors MCM 110/120 is 1234. The MCM120M is 1342. Need to find out what the hell motor is in your boat first!!
  22. I knew this was gonna be a long shot, but someone must have a antenna laying around that a unit puked but the gps was still working!!! Thanks guys pap.
  23. Your funny Low Baller, next year were gonna have to get out together!!
