  1. I think those Atlantics are the nicest looking fish swimming in the trout family!!! Nice looking mount!!
  2. Awesome Kevin, I like the way you guys keep the younger gen interested in the outdoors!! Congrats to your hunt!! With many more to come.
  3. This is one impressive screen, but how long can they last stacked in there?, I hope they retreat to the deep for their sake, but their biological clock is ticking, the rivers aren't passable, so hope this storm coming up the coast will be their chance to run the rivers!! one way or another we will pay for this down the road, I hope I'm wrong!! Keep at Em guys not many are going to make the journey.
  4. I was in business for 22 years and I have turned work to other rebuilders because I couldn't handle the work load. I certainly wouldn't take someone's cash knowing I wasn't going to get to it, finally I needed to hire a guy cause dad and I couldn't keep our time frame even close. I never never took people's money before their unit was complete. I know what it's like to run out of room, but we quit taking on work till we were totally up and running again. Then it was balls to the wall and purchased machines to do the dirty work so I could focus on my products time frame, that was when business was booming, and everybody wanted their stuff yesterday!! Hope all works out!!
  5. Nice going guys!! Man they got dark fast holy shyt man!!!
  6. X2 plus anything that has a lot of movement like a exaggerated hot & tot those humped back flat fish, there's a old guy in our camp BRCG all he does is troll silver huge flat fish and there's a river boat that uses J 11's in the current, but I have caught them trolling them off the riggers also both Jplugs and J11 like 15ft down the lures will pull down to where the fish are, might have to consider the rigger depth plus the lures curve also to get the lure in the fishes face. Also running a long flat line at just say 20ft they swim the line in there mouth till the lure gets there, not much of a sportsman's way but it works.
  7. Yea that's it, Thanks JakeyBaby!! These two threads went the whole season without I tree hugger or a animal rightist putting in their two sense!! I once wrote about a crow hunt and those people ripped me a new ass, I was like wtf it's a damn crow, that the farmer was paying me and my brother, and a few cousins, $.50 a crow. Man we made money so the farmer asked if we would do it $.25 a crow, well hell ya, we would have done it for the rights to hunt the property. I don't think that was the idea, as the farmer had people from his family that come to hunt the first. Week of the season, but we could hunt the second part of the season. Any deer hunter knows their summer ways of travel to keep feed and water nearby change as the days grow shorter
  8. Awesome!!!

Man that's a beauty, good luck with your sale!!
  10. That's putting it mildly, good luck & be safe out there especially with Jr. He will get a blast out of this combat fishing!! LOL
  11. What year is your boat, mine is a 82, from half way back my Sea Ray is smooth as a baby's but, and mine did the same thing, I moved that small rudder under the lower unit one way or the other about a 1/4 " the only way the boat would go flat in the water is if someone would stand behind me while I was driving, the tabs did the trick. In the beginimg while coming into a no wake zone this boat was all over the place, I was told its because the ribs in the front weren't in the water enough, because of the heavy motor, when the boat sits in the water it favors the rear. I was instructed to put 400 lbs in the front and that would solve that, and it did, but loading the boat on the trailer was interesting as you could feel every wheel under the boat. The second or third time I split that wide 9" roller in half, so I took the 400lbs out of the front, so ya the best thing I did was put the tabs on, I could push the front into the water at slow speeds so I could steer the boat without looking like a drunken sailor, you won't be sorry about your tabs, I also put a 4 bladed prop on that was impressive to say the least, now she jumps out of the water and runs along 35mph at 3800 rpm's.
  12. Yea calling is tough especially if there's others in the area doing the same thing, it only has to happen once and they don't forget that sound. We got to hunt a golf course that was private so we had a advantage, they were running all over and the people called the owner of the course and my brother was a big contractor in there at the time, so that's how we got in there. Yes I haven't deer hunted since bro passed, and I didn't even get my LakeO boat up this year, sad I know but it just seems like I just don't have that push behind me anymore, well I got her all ready for next year!! We worked together like a well oiled machine, my uncles are old school fisherman and just to aggravating as they can't agree with the line set backs that are needed these days, they think 150 back is good enough, yes it was back 1986 but it's 2016, so I just drive out gas not popping a rod and they don't get it the waters just to clear for those short setbacks, UUGG No sense aggravating myself yet!! Thanks for input Ripnlip!!!
  13. I would have to say this is a personal preference type of thing, maybe the impossible turned possible, might be a sons first catch ect. The guys who been fishing since the late 70's mid 80's know the Kings used to get 40#'s+ and would say I wouldn't get that little fish mounted. Guys just starting out catching mid 20#ers might want to mount his first 30#+ fish, me personally like the looks of the silvers in mid season, but your chances are greater in the staging state where their are getting darker. Personally I think the Atlantics are the nicest looking fish swimming in the trout line. My next replica will be a laker over 30#s I have a 12.75 lbs walleye 33 3/4"s and a 42" northern pike mounted and my next goal is a 30#+ laker. So with that said, think it's a personal preference thing. Tight lines to ya
  14. It's been 2 years now since my best bud passed away from cancer, "my brother" these critters can tell when a critter is sick or weak. Our last hunt together was anything but chilling!! My brother always did the shooting and I did the calling, by mixing mouth calls with the fox pro works pretty good. Our last call my brother did the calling but he wasn't to good with a mouth call so we just used the chicken in distress, me being worried about bro, I didn't get to far away, matter of fact I stayed 1 tree over about 20 yards away. We started calling in the direction of a cranberry bog, when out of the corner of my eye I saw something break the moonlight through the trees, hmm, well maybe it was a deer getting the hell out of there? 5 minutes later I saw the same thing only over by my brother but still 50 yards above him, now I turn around and tune my attention towards this what ever it may be, my brother turns the volume down like we alway do and just sit and wait, curiosity usually kills the cat, when I noticed now it's a coyote coming from behind right on target towards my brother, but I still can't shoot as he lighted across the golf course this dog made his move, towards my brother, very low to the ground but at a steady pace, I freaked the phuck out I knew if I shot it was going to scare the living shyt out of him, but in my mind that dog was locked on my brother and was going to get him, so I pushed the safty off my Benellie 3 1/2" #4 buckshot gun, he was perfectly sideways to me and only 20 yards behind my brother, I had to make this shot count, I squeezed her off and saw the dog litterly fly through the air, and my brother, well I scared the living shyt out of him!! I told him the hole story after he caught his breath and wiped his shorts clean. There's no doubt in my mind that dog smelled or sensed that my brother was a sick man and weak. I also believe that if I would have walked away he might have been attack by that yote, even though we sprayed ourselves down with sent away he still must of had that scent of weakness to that dog, the same way they pick out a weak deer or whatever. That was the last time I was out at night calling. I'm not to sure I'll ever go at night solo again. Call me a pussy or whatever you want but I watched this whole thing happen and if I wasn't there I don't know if I could believe this if someone else would have told me the same thing. Never let your guard down out there at night!! Miss ya bro!! But I still have great memories of ya,!!!
  15. AAHhh this was one of the best threads ever on LOU!!! The other was the deer hunt, that was awesome also, I can't remember who does it or I'd capitalize that also!!. That is the stud of that pack he is huge!! Can't wait to see the fur fly!!!
  16. Run a Bomber long A 70ft then a 2oz snap weight and another 70ft off your boards you will be in the ball park. Blue silver/black silver shhhhh LOL
  17. Head title says $5,400
  18. Welcome aboard Mike, and Henderson at that, my favorite harbor, yes the Saiff guys are very good at what they do and aren't afraid of sharing info, we are getting way to many Mike's on here as I'm Mike also!!. What part of Maine are you from?
  19. Trust me when I'm fishing it's all about reliable equipment and 4.3 has proven it's self time in and time out. I'm never in hurry when I'm fishing anyway. Other boat manufacturers have put the Mercruiser 470 which is a 4cyl. In many boats as the 4.3 and the 5.0. The 4.3 and the 5.0 are very similar but the 5.0 has a smaller bore over 8 cyl. 3 3/4 as opposed to a 4" bore on the 4.3 with less cylinders,,, they both have the same crank stroke 3.48 but the V6 is at the top of its power range at 220hp, the V6 can spin up faster because of 2 less cylinders less friction, but in the long run the V8 would have more latent power, and I personally think the V8 would be more economical with its inherently smoother design,& smaller bore. I'm speaking from experience. I've had with both engines. This is pre vortec after the Vortec era, you can forget about everything we are talking about here. Also if you enjoy tinkering around with V-8 will win the day with tinkered up hp which is up my ally, if your a turn the key lets go fishing then the 4.3 is just fine, it will get the job done, just as Hank has mentioned. Good luck on your purchase!!
  20. Ah gotch ya, some talk that guys were catching salmon in the Black River Bay area, 50-70 ft of water if my brain serves me right, that's only a mile or so before the river. Maybe they headed back to the trench. To my way of thinking LOL. Which ain't much, there's no water in the rivers and no rain in sight with above temps forecasted for a while yet, how long can they hang out in these conditions?
  21. If it's a newer one, with a 4.3 V6 they make 220hp just as the 5.0, so some people say why run 8cyl. when I can run 6? Well that's all fine and dandy till you start looking at the torque specs. If we were fishing on blacktop I'd have to agree go with the 4.3. Boating is all about the hp and the torque working the same curve, a V8 has way more torque than any 6 cyl whether it's inline or a V. A buddy of mine was spouting off about his 19ft with a 4.3, man this thing flies 50mph, so of course I couldn't leave this alone, so we decided to take the kids tubing, both of us have the same tube with four girls on each tube we went to the lake my boat has a 350.5.7 with some extra goodies done to it and his 4.3 with a 4 barrel. Needles to say the 4.3 was lacking torque big time, and with 6 guys in his boat 22 mph, and my boat 3ft longer way heavier and 6 guys we managed 32mph but that was pushing 3800 rpm, which I had more throttle to go and still be out of the danger zone. There's no substitute for cubic inches if you want to have your hp and torque curve run about the same, the v8 will get on plane faster and work less, where the 6cylinder will always be under a load creating more fuel per hr than a V8. Hope this helps you to understand the rule of 6cyl. VS. 8cyl.
  22. Now that's a trophy in my mind!! And Jr is thinking the same!! I'll take 3 eyes a day instead of the zombie fish that are staging for the river. Nice job guys!!!! l
  23. If there're hitting meat rigs yet, doesn't that mean they are not in the full blown stage mode yet? I always thought they hit out of aggression when there in the head to the rivers mode, and this is where the J plugs work, for those asking when is the J plug is used. What's your thought?
  24. Which lake, might get you some info sooner, as there's lots a seasoned ice fisherman/ladies on here from LakeO to all the Finger Lakes that support lakers.
  25. When you say pick up only, do you mean the merchandise or the mail, would like the downrigger box for $30.00, but I'm in Pa. Thanks PAP.
