    Ogdensburg

Nice going Icedd!! Jr sure looks happy, plus in 20 minutes. That doesn't damper the day for a minute!! Congrats to your outting and your catch!!!
  3. That was a awesome vid. and yes gambler is the king of laker rigs, some **** about the added pull when fighting the fish, it's not like a plain spoon, but this helps the fish in a sence as you can't just crank it to the surface which helps the fish release the air in its air bladder for a healthy release. You will catch many more lakers with cowbells especially with tested and proven Gambler Rigs!! Good luck and tight lines to you!!

    Cayuga 8/14

Not to change the lake thread, but what you guys are seeing and talking about is the exact thing that happened on LakeO in Chaumont Bay year after year!! The weigh station was in Sackets Harbor a good distance away from each other, but at 60-70 mph maybe 10 minutes, the dead floaters were everywhere, both large and smallmouth, now you need to work your ass of to catch a few. Between the gobies and the catch&release season and the tourneys their well on their way to making it very hard for the average Joe with his young son or daughter to catch a fish so they stay interested in the sport. Any fool can can catch a bass of the nest. Why can't they catch weigh and release right where they caught it like the pro's do now. This goes for any lake they have a tourney at.!!!
  5. It's definatly going on big time up there!!! We were in Rhode Island for a few days then we we went to Plymouth for 2 days I heard the stripers and Blues were running big time!! A fellow we bumped into from Pa. also who fishes a lot for these fish gave me names of guys he knows that have boats and they were booked for longer than we were staying. My wife was disapointed that I didn't get to go but that seems to be my luck. I don't get disapointed that easy anymore. There's always next year!! But yea the fish are in!!! We were on our yearly family vacation which our daughters look forward to every year!!

    Spinnerbaits

Spinner baits have been used with a lot of success for eyes also, put down off the rigger. This method is used quite often with sunken debrie such as fallen trees. I use this setup in Chaumont bay and other littler lakes around home. I also use the 5/8-1oz rigs trolled at the same speed and length as a snap weight of the same weight, as we know speed is important when trolling any weighted rig. Try it see what happens??
  8. Let's not forget about the future fisherman/girl lakers make it exciting for them, they don't care what it is, but they do know at the end of the day they had a blast and it's the biggest fish they ever saw it was this --------------long. Dad your the best!!! Can we go again!!
  9. I put them on the bogo with a 3ft rope with a loop, put them in the water, hook to the center cleat tow them for a minute or two, with the water flowing through their gills in the proper direction, most all take off like a rocket. Some of those who said they plant lakers in their garden, Hmmm,,,, how many charters did they save last year!!
  10. Well that's great I thought of you when the lake was down so they say?
  11. Hey Moose, do you need to anker up there, and smaller boat your way through the bay? Or this is all for a nice pic of a your beautiful boat!!
  12. X2!!!
  13. Nice going guys!! Great pics. also. Who did the diamond plate work on the front of the trailer. I like it a lot. To nice to be store bought.
  14. If they pull 1/2 again as much as the set a friend made me you'll need garage door cable to hold them, better have a sturdy mast or deploy both at the same time lol
  15. Another way to hand line is, I saw this method being used and won the Detroit River walleye pro tournament. Need to get the biggest fly fishing reel with auto line pick up, mount it on a pole that the first eye is close to being just over the edge, once it's in the rod holder, the plastic rod holder with the reel holder is up work the best. The auto reel is nice to pick up the line that's spaghettied on the floor of the boat. Cut the pole off just a head of the first eye. A leather batters glove on your hand pulling the copper line in. I used a 3oz pyramid deep sea weight, tie on a 3 way swivel so it's 2-3ft off the bottom. Use fluro for all of this and a 10ft piece for the spoon. Should run a light flutter spoon, so your not on the bottom with the spoon. I have caught many eyes on a river system. You cover turf, banging the bottom and the spoon is in their face!!
  16. Nice job dad & jr. there's no better way to fish than with family, I know my fishing has dropped off since dad passed. Now my daughters are getting into fishing so maybe they'll get me to kick it in gear like I used to be into fishing, my one daughter loves to fish. Way to adapt and overcome the dipsy issue!! Great post and best of luck next trip!!!
  17. Send your reels to Tuna Tom, he's the best, many will chime in and agree. I sent my reels to him and they all worked like high end reels, I was very impressed. Just type in Tuna Tom and all the info you need will come up. Best of luck!!!
  18. Nice going Tman, looks like good weather, good fishing what more could a man ask for!! Congrats to your trip!!!
  19. I refuse to partisapate in that activity, I usually switch over to eye fishing!!!
  20. Nice buck!! And very nice pics. They look 3D must be a good camera. I've seen some black & white cows in a snow storm pics. LOL and not in color, like anything else they come a long way with those cameras. Good luck, hope you get to shaft him this year!!!
  21. Hermit, I have fished Poutrincourt, at least 6-7 times. I fished it the spring when it was a fly in lake, over the years the hard bottom roads improved, to just a short maybe 45 min. Drive on pretty good dirt road. The amount of eyes we caught were nearly double that with 6 guys in the spring, in the later part of the year you need to move. That lake isn't very deep, I think there was a hole behind the island that's in view of cabin 10. That's over 30ft deep. Other than that your in the teens to mid 20's. That lake is stained dark brown, and it gives up eyes during the day where other Canadian lakes were a evening bite, during the day some of the guys targeted pike while we got after the Lakers in the deeper parts of the lake. 4 guys are good as you could do it with one vehicle, while 6 guys is good also you can take more stuff and not so crammed for 18 hrs, if you go with the European plan taking 2 vehicles is best as all the grub goodies in on truck and the rods and tackle in the other. You will be amazed how much food it takes to feed 4-6 men, and we had fish 2 nights. If you ever get to do it, it's a experience you'll never forget. Just the crazy things that happen in a weeks time!!
  22. X2 need to do the yearly family vacation.
  23. Sweet team38 that some nice fish your holding!! Congrats to you and JR, well done.
