  1. From reading the horror stories, it sounds like the 19 footers on down are only good for frog ponds and smaller water, no way in hell would they take 3-5 footers, 6" waves might be to much LOL there are much better grades of boats out there that's for sure!! I wouldn't want to be in Fleets shoes, but it sounds like he made out on the boat, considering the other stories the thread above reads. I never had a "brand new" boat but I know how frustrating it is when shyt goes south on my old girl. Wood and fiberglass I can fix, steel I can weld, aluminum my father in law has the welder and stuff to repair his trucks bodies they are all aluminum. It's a shame that big of a comp. can't make a better boat? They advertise the crap out of them, so they must be selling them yet. It would be a differant story if there were a handful of guys b!tching that's not the case here!! Best of luck to those who have them!!
  2. Larry you should hook up with River Monsters!! I saw a show that down there somewhere they have the largest Tarpon in the world, and the big A$$ fish that start with the letter A you guys caught bigger ones then on the show, that supposable killed people, I can't remember how I think the fish rammed into the folks knocking them breathless. I think anyway, congrats on your trips and have someone experience the trip of a lifetime!!! Good people get rewarded, maybe not in this life!!!
  3. I just wanted to show you guys that are looking for a differant concept in a trolling spoons. These spoons are made by a LOU member, Jeff has worked hard and had differant guys from LOU run these lures for a long time to make it stand out from the spoons that we know so well. I have had folks tell me they are awesome, so here are some picks that I tried to show the difference in these spoons vs. others. Thanks Jeff I can't wait to swim these bad boys!!! I hate it when they come out upside down, anyway I tried to show that the hooks are on the outside of the spoon, attached by 2 split rings, they are free floating so to speak. I'm impressed!!! Great job Jeff.
  4. Yea, that sounds like a plan, I go by pap or 1worm I'll be on 68 also, got everything back together again going to give her a test run one local lake towards the end of this week. I want to get a coat of wax on the O'L Girl before I make the trip north. Thanks final flight!!!
  5. Has anyone fished from the Black River towards Piont Peninsula or the Sackets Harbor side? How about Chaumont Bay area?? Would like to know coming up the Tuesday before eye season till Friday to open up, and Monday till Friday after the opener? Browns and eyes is what we're after and going to give Brian's laker rigs. Thanks for any report!! Good or so-so down to terrible LOL
  6. Holy crap guys looking like 2ft or less till Sunday!! Those guys that can, take full advantage of this near perfect weekend conditionsâ˜€ï¸ ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
  7. Man you should frame that pic. I can count on one hand the amount of times I have seen LadyO like glass. Although I had a time I'm just going to say 5-7 years ago we had a whole week when it was like that, you could go anywhere on the lake in a 12ft aluminum boat. It was hot no wind and the fishing sucked, but the boating was great. We managed a few eyes so at the clean station at the BRCG we were talking to a older gent, we told him where we went. He said we were in more places that he, in the 28 years he's been fishing LakeO!!! Yea we covered some turf that day. Only because we could and it was cool to see those areas. Hope this week fires the fish up so we get some other posts going, I've never saw the board this silent since I joined. I think 4 years ago.
  8. Yea for some reason the ladies don't see thing the way us guys do, good luck with your new unit. I put my old 788 on the back so the rigger guys can see depth and I put the Lowrance elite 7 up front for the driver. Your right even with the 7" screen it's a PITA.
  9. We went through this same thing this winter!!! I have BSA Cats Eye, that I think is the "Cats A$$" but mine is pushing 10-15 years ago, since then I guess the quality has gone down hill drastically, everyone else said the newer ones are junk. I must have got one made an a Wednesday LOL. The rest of the guys hated the scope or said they were complete junk!! More guys will chime in here, and assure your decision to not get a BSA. I was looking at a Cableas flyer and I saw another major brand also has come out with the light up recticals. Good luck with your new outfit. I really like my 17. Hmr. I wish I would have waited for the WSM. But that's the way it goes. I did look at the shell to me it looks like a 22mag, necked down to .17 I'm just saying, that might not be what they did, but there's definitely a differance in size.
  10. Yea that's a brute!! Congrats, what was the water temp?
  11. Well thanks a lot guys, there seems to be a reverse role with fishing, even when I used to trout fish the streams around home it was bright colors/bright days and dark colors/dark days, so on calm seas hammered spoons and choppy days go with smooth lures. Your 100% power dive most all my harnesses are a hammered cup. I'm a little old school, when we fished Erie I alway took a charter if it was a new area, and most of the time they used copper hammered Colorado blade, and we caught fish I'm telling ya!!! Those guys/gals new where they were and how to catch them. Thanks guys appreciate the info!!! ðŸ‘
  12. They claim there's no such thing as a stupid question, so here's my question? I'm wondering when you more experienced spoon pullers decide to run a spoon is there ever a notion to run a smooth spoon or a hammered spoon. Why do they make hammered and smooth spoons? Just say you were going to place a order from a outfit that offered the same colors in hammered and smooth, what would you purchase and why? Thanks, all or any answers are appreciated!!! PAP
  13. www.hybridlures.simdif.com that's his sight with prices.
  14. Yes Les your correct. My father said many a time that pike are excellent eating, when we fished the northern Quebec lakes which would be cold water fish, although he enjoyed eating pike from lakeO up till about the end of June, then he didn't want them anymore. I had a French Indian show me how to fillet a pike. First you cut along the top till you feel the Y bones, about half the way down. Then cut the fish where your top cut ends, basically along the middle of the fish remove those two strips on each side. Then a 1/4-1/2" down from the top Y bone you can fillet down to the belly meat, he said he cuts that belly the yellowish color off. So you end up with four nice strips of meat with little to no bones, and not much waist of the fish. It took me a while to get the hang of it but he was like a machine. Honestly when we beer battered the eyes and pike it was hard to tell what was what. Dad preferred his pike just fried in butter in a pan. Our last day dinner always consisted of fried walleye and pike, fried potatoes and Bushes baked beans, a meal fit for a king. The guys are going on their last trip to a lake we fished for 20+ Years the youngest of my uncles are 68-75years old. Their going the 2nd week in June, I'm not going and that was a big let down for the guys. I don't want to be that far of the beaten path should something happen to me. I don't want to ruin there trip should I twist or fall with my back issues. They all understand but had to bust my b*\|s.
  15. I'm 100% with you gambler, what I see more devistating is the catch and release program during the spawn period, where all the gobies devistate the nest in less time than it takes to unhook the fish and during this period all the females are of trophy size so you have a photo shot yet then released, by this time the nest is destroyed. I got shutdown quick before on this topic, but when a semi pro bass fisherman says "it ain't what it used to be" maybe it's time to change the rules, even if it's done by lake for lake instead of statewide. Maybe LakeO should do as other lakes do, and that is, the bass tourney guys weigh and measure fish where there caught, not carted all over the lake for hours and all released at a completely different spot. Let me put you in the trunk of my car and drive around and let you out at the end of the day, ok your on your own from here. Right???
  16. Wow that's what it's all about, congrats to you catch, with much more action to come. Tight lines to all as we are getting 4-7" of the white stuff tomorrow!! UUUUGGG but it won't last long.
  17. That would be great, like what spin&aglow goes with what bell. What colors to use in differant conditions?? That's what I'm wondering now??
  18. Two thumbs up man, sometimes when you get cought up in the fast lane the obvious slips buy, no harm.
  19. When we owned property over on the Perch River us kids had a blast catching nice pike 30-35"ers were common, last year we went up to the other end, which was litterly so thick with salmon you could walk across them, back to the pike we. Didn't catch a damn pike we fished it hard from the weeping willow tree in the bay all the way to the very end of the Perch, we were stunned, couldn't believe it. Something needs to be done and fast.
  20. I defended minion. I was in business for myself for 22 years I know all about the taxes and I also know how to hop-skip- jump. I also believe if your going to use this sight to spotlight your product the least you could do is become a member, and support the site that is the backbone of your operation.?? I purchased many boxes of donuts for the guys, and bought lunch for the guys that were the pking pins of my operations. A little goes a long way sometimes.
  21. What business is it of one's other than the receivers what he does, if your content with the final product?? Carry on my man you tie one mean fly!!!
  22. Today I received my Riggs from Brian after getting a pm that he sent them out. 1 day later my girls brought in the box, of course they wanted me to open the box. I don't know who was more excited to see what the Riggs looked like and the spin & glows. I must say I'm more than impressed with Gambler's work!! Thanks Brian for my laker Riggs, and I can't wait to post a pic of my first "BIG" laker. PAP.
  23. Absolutely Les, the whole site is like a greased wheel, it's at the top as far as a fishing, boating ect. Right down to guys helping guys with boat repairs and major ones at that. I feel as if it give guys the confidence to take on projects that might have gone to the wayside, or cost more than one expected, therefore he/she would of had to sacrifice time on the water or even getting out on the water which, in a sence trickles down through the system. Which Then hurts the ares where the guys fishes out of. Right now there's a fellow rebuilding his boat basically from the bottom up. The guys are giving there knowledge to him on how to, the right way, saving this man major $$$. We have another fellow offering his products spoons, but what I find amazing is he hand paints his own walleye blades, which are the best I ever saw. I saw a lot of great looking blades painted by others and there top notch also, but it's the idea that they even showed us!! Years ago that would have been like a military top secret keep it yourself ordeal. LOL. The other board is doing fantastic for the short time it's been up. All this stuff going on has one bad issue!! "Mother Nature" does not want to cooperate with us so we can swim all these new gadgets.LOL. Good luck to all and tight lines, sooner or later!!! pap?
