  1. Now that would be interesting to say the least, maybe they'll make a big enough one so my 11 year old daughter could shoot and not kill her most sought after creature BIG FOOT, when she heard that NY passed a law that any bipedal animal or what not is illeagall to kill she said there has to be one or they wouldn't have passed that law dad!!
  2. The video really sets the stage for the R PLANT tune, I guess we're all getting older when we can relate to the same tune. My daughters age 11 are like who was that dad. The ice looks like it might be tough yet but with the temp in the 60's it doesn't stand a chance. Once it starts melting from the top and the bottom, it goes quick!! Great job MR CLEAN!!
  3. Prof I would look for simplicity if they are easier to navigate I would go another route. Trust me the elite is no mount and go fishing finder, the so called instructions come on a cd and a little piece of paper. I don't think to many will disagree with me on that. So now you need a laptop to run the cd or try to make heads or tails out of the piss poor instructions that come with the unit. Don't get me wrong I like the unit now, I don't think I would have said that 2 seasons ago.
  4. Rick they just came out with a transome mount for chirp, so what bill was saying is true, and your higher end units have better ducers. The one transome mount, middle of the road has 4 50/200 transmitters, which it returns 4, just like the key board he was explaining. Makes sense now. So the higher end units might have 2 instead of 1 like the elite has.
  5. Thanks Rick that's exactly what the DI looks like, the chirp is the new incarnation of the HDI. It provides basic CHIRP capabilities using the the same HDI transducer. The processor is faster and the mother board upgrade provide clearer views of the bottom surfaces, like plants and fish are in better detail and the ping speed is faster, so you can travel faster over the water and still have a clear display. I was told by a guy I know, he's kind of a geek, but he is also a good fisherman, if you want to see your elite come to life is to go with a Airmar transducer, he put one one his and said it was like a different unit. He also says lowrance used the same ducer as the HDI because if they went with the higher end units ducers the guys that went with the lowrance 7 gen3 would have been ticked off shy of the Ethernet there wouldn't be enough differences to excuse the $$$$ difference, so it had to be degraded somehow and that's what they did. Now if he's lying which I doubt because he is one smart cookie, especially with electronics than I guess so am I. I really want to see this with my own eyes, and I will this spring. He told me all the stuff I need to tell Airmar when ordering, something about they use heat instead of lowrance's way and the need to be in the water, so a shoot through style won't work, the transom mount or the one under the boat. Bill went with the transom mount, that I know.
  6. After reading this let me fix some of my talk when I say spoon I ment like Michigan stinger, and Sutton spoons like the 44's and smaller, DreamWeavers, and Super Slims, Alpenia, light spoons, not casting spoons such as little Cleo's in the heavier weights. Basically flutter spoons.
  7. Todd, lots of guys just flat line them in the Black River which is up and down in in depth but if you know the river you can stay in 12-15+feet of water from the first island up to the riffles just beyond the weeping willow tree. I ran them off the riggers down 7-10ft and didn't get hung up, they are very buoyant lures. I can't honestly say how far below the ball, I would be will to say not much. Maybe more seasoned anglers that ran them could help out.
  8. With spoons you won't hit the bottom fishing 4ft or better if anything you might have to add 1or 2 split shots. I like to use at the least 5ft of flurocarbon leader, I put the split shot on the fluro up at the connection from main line to leader. If you have like Smithwicks lures, bomber long A's their depth is 2-7ft you can send your planers right in the shallows. You can run your heavier lines to keep your lures up also. You can do the same with your sticks. Hopefully you'll find a scum line in shallow or where the muddy water meets the green looking water and work that line doing s turns in and out of that line. If they hit in the dirty water stay in there if they hit the green same deal. I like to run one spread in the dirt and the other in the green. Sometimes there is no scum line, then I run and gun hoping to find that sweet spot.
  9. They don't dive well, what can tell just pitching out there maybe 4-10ft that's about 20ft behind the boat.
  10. I use my DI all the time, I'm a walleye guy and I want to know what the terrain is under me, very rocky I hope. I have a Elite 7 HDI. I like it I put the update in it before I ever mounted it in the boat. I never had a problem. Now they have the elite hook and the elite ti, which is a touch screen that's $200.00 less than I paid 2 years ago and the hook is the same price just double the unit in the functions. Good luck and use your own way of making the decisions, II will say other than the touch screens, you won't put a lowrance unit on and go fishing, it takes time to get the hang of it unless your very tech savvy and the manual is like a few little pages. I bought the extra power cord and played with it over the winter, and still needed the manual, but I really like it for the money.

    you opinion

No I haven't, kind of like a reverse worm burner, with a spoon. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Macks smile blades makes something simular DJ.
  12. Depending on the dive curve of those lures, use a light leader then go with the heaviest mono rods you got, maybe your rigger rods. The 20-30# mono will keep them from diving to deep, or run them in the prop wash that way they can't dive either.
  13. Glad to hear JT!! Give us the low down on how she works. Best of luck to ya. PAP
  14. If he's to that stage in his life, could be a Alfa male, those guys gave me the green weiner. I hate when the big male comes first. If you guys get this snow like the weather channel shows, that might give you the opportunity you've been waiting for!! Post a pic. Whaler1
  15. Yea I hear ya, but holy smokes that's a lot of Ben Franklins. LOL
  16. Might have to try a different approach with that guy, sounds like he might have been stung buy the white light, I'm sure your using red, or need a good clear moon lit sky and a good telescope with a 50mil bell, what the hell am I telling you for, you shot more yote off your pile than I have in my life!!!!, he"ll screw up, balls in your court!!! Please post pic. It's been pretty lame with posts lately. Pap.
  17. Do you have 2 of the 42.5"ers left. I don't know if you removed it from the pics. Thanks pap
  18. I agree, not to mention I'm not ready yet, I'm in the mist of putting a new shift cable in, the lower one, last year it started to stall going from neutral to reverse, when I had my lower unit looked at last year the mechanic said its time he tried to adjust it but just made for other problems, he said it works to hard and its stretched. So off with the lower unit one more time. UUUGGG!!!, I'm going to have the bolts wore out soon.LOL.
  19. What actually do you have in the way of riggers, looking to up grade my old mag 10's. I need to know what the max load they can lift, also can I adapt the base to cannon bases if you don't know can you measure the holes top across the top center to center and top to bottom center of hole to top center also, I might be able to make a bottom plate so I can use my bases, I have them so I can run a 45* angle off the back. Also my booms are 48" but don't absolutely need 4ft but I need all I can get. If I run strait back with the riggers I have a swim platform and center rigger is over the out drive. Thanks, sorry to be a pita. But I need what I need. Pap
  20. Isn't that a Canadian made boat, my cousin bought one and loves ita?
  21. I just watched all 3 and had no problem, off my daughters iPad. Maybe you tried when there was a lot of people on line. I have no problem all day till the kids get home, meaning all the kid. They are talking texting you name it.Hang in there springs is just around the corner
  22. Well having a tough night!! So I watched the two shows, WOW what great shows. Those guys have some nice equipment meaning, nice riggs and awesome tackle, lures, and spoons, riggers ect. Would be nice, "Legacy" if you could post the rest of them. Great stuff thanks for sharing with us that can't get it to watch. PAP.
  23. Worked fine for me, used a IPad, they sent the rest via pc. Mail filled the rest out, and presto, I'm a member of LEU. This will be great. Thanks Chad, you the man!!!!
  24. That's great to hear guys, the holes are drilled in the riggers, I just forgot to mount them, I was really thinking the torpedo's might make for havoc, since the the anker point is in the middle. Great to hear guys thanks a lot guys for the input. PAP.
  25. Does it make a hoot what your weight is / ball / fish / torpedo? I ran 12# pancakes last year, I forgot to mount the weight retriever last year and after my lower unit went, I didn't remember/again to bring them along up with me. They worked with 8# pancakes, I'm thinking the torpedo's might be a problem? I hope I'm wrong.
