  1. If I ever get back into ice fishing I think the first thing I would buy is those ice pick things that you can pull yourself out with or at least hang on till someone helps, hopefully those guys that watched aren't next to me!!
  2. I buy a $100.00 worth of lures off our local tackle shop at a time and I asked the same thing, Carol replied my lures are less $$ than Cabelas and they are I checked if I give a break I'm making nothing and might as well close up. I told her I understand I was in buisness for myself also long bomberA $5.49 smithwicks, same, and Rapalas $9.25 Cabelas is higher and I don't burn $30 in fuel that's 5-6 more lures.
  3. Ok that makes sense, I never knew anything like that existed, cool now I learned something today, thank for the quick come back PAP
  4. What is this "box" used for?
  5. Like what Chas said, I highly doubt there is a charge system, lots of those older engines were drilled for a starter. I have a older 25hp Merc. That's supposedly use 40:1 oil mix that's how old it is and I put a starter on, it didn't have a charging system. It should be grounded to the battery and that's it. All grounds should be isolated from the structure of the boat.
  6. One thing the weatherman gets right 90% of the time is the isobars watch for when they are far apart with several days till they tighten up if it's 3-4 days I hit the road for north, this theory has worked rather well. So basically you want a high pressure system set up over the north east, but watch that the bars are over the lake also. I have seen where it looks good but the bars are tight over western part of the lake to Lake Erie that's no good either. Try it, it might surprise you.

    Erie charter

We stayed at the Bay's Edge his housing facilities, so I think that's why we got the green light.
  8. Every place I ever fished on the ice there was a tree standing somewhere with long branches laying all over to at least try to help. Most people have rope in their vehicle or a chain something, anything !!!
  9. I see now why there is a love hate ordeal going on now, the scope I have is no longer available it's on their web page but no longer can you purchase this scope through their web site, my scope was $200 plus you have to into their tactical scopes to get the scope I have. The others are less quality and less of a telescope. My bad I didn't know they went down hill or for better words make a lesser grade than what I have.
  10. So they are manuals?
  11. Take all your goodies off including the motor strip it down to the aluminumm, trailer the boat to nearest scrapyard collect your $100-200 dollars then back the trailer through the show room window unhook trailer and come home and rig your newest boat up. Oh buy a few cases of beer with the scrap money. That's were I'd be by now!!!!
  12. Well maybe I got lucky with mine!!!!
  13. Man that's horrible, the part that puzzles me is the other fisherman sat and watched as he tried to save his son? WTF man they both could have saved the kid or both. I can't even fathom the thought of loosing one of my daughters!!! Yet say you watched them struggle to the end, I would have done as much as I could to help. Terrible!!
  14. Well there you have it the leupold rifle man is the Wall-mart version of leupold. Kind of difficult to find comparable rings, but if you go to a gun smith they can hook you up with rings they aren't 1" it's a good daylight scope. I mounted this telescope on my 300 H&H after 3 shots the recticals fell down, send it back to leupold and exchanged it for a VXII the same price $200.00. There's no way he had a 50mil bell on the BSA and say the rifleman is better.
  15. DJ I have the BSA Cats Eye scope on my 17. I have the one with the illuminated recticals, there are several different levels of brightness. I like the scope I have in the 3 to 9 with the 50mil bell. It was not a cheap scope, they do make lesser grades. It pulls as much light as my leopolds. I have a 4.5 to 14 VXIII on my 25/06 it's a toss up as to which gathers more natural light, such as a full moon with a fresh snow, and with a red light you just brighten the crosshairs in the BSA which is simple it's right on top, use your index finger just drop down to the trigger.
  16. Did you sell the riggers, if not what brand our they how long is the booms & the price, I live 1/2hr from Allentown. I live in the palmerton area. PAP thanks!!!
  17. Or Longenberger baskets!!! LOL
  18. If you use the 20 grain boat tail in the 17hmr you will acheive a much better pelt saver bullet, if you use the 17 grain ballistic tip like Justin mentioned it could be a mess, I only shoot the 20 grain pill when wanting to save he hide and the 17 grain ballistic tip when whistle pig hunting. I just got to see the WSM bullet last week at Cabela's, quite the impressive little pill. I wish I had bought that gun, but at the time there was no such critter.
  19. How true that is!! My wife has 105 pairs of shoes, and a gazillion of those Longenberger baskets which she says are worth $120-to plus more. I told her first you need to find a sucker that was born 30 seconds after you to agree to pay you that much for a over priced picnic basket, until then they ain't worth a cup full of cold piss. Get my drift!! LOL
  20. OOHH I knew that YANKEE!!! I couldn't resist that opportunity!!! You have the best day ever my freind. Can't wait for a new soft water post from your boat!!! PAP.
  21. This whole ordeal takes place about 50 miles south of me. It's on our local news station. Pretty cool to me anyway!!!
  22. The differance here is that is "your" bread and butter, just like "we" need a vehicle to go to work, if you told her you needed a 50Th anniversary corvette to get to your charter boat there might be a problem, the moral of the story here is our wives don't see our toys as a necessity? But in actuality it's a very needed tool to be successful at catching a salmon. To our wives its a stupid fish. UUUGGG!!!
  23. Now that's funny chech or chong LMAO
  24. About 10 years ago my cousin and I were fishing the Delaware River and we saw this white duck floating on the water it looke like it was folded in half like. Come to find out it was a Muskie that tried to eat a full size duck, long story short the Muskie was dead but the duck was alive, and had someone caught that mess they would of had the state record for a Muskie. That was a shame for that fish.
  25. Was at Cabela's last week, I got to see the shells to a 17 Winchester WSM. I have the 17 hmr it looks like mabe a 22 mag rim fire as to the hmr, which kind of resembles a 22 LR necked to .17 cal. Either way they will lay the smack down on a whistle pig. The way it looks now in Punxsutawney PA. Phil the groundhog will see his shadow. That means 6 more weeks of winter UUUUGGGG!! 😧 🖕ðŸ¿
