Which down speed & temp system do you recommend?

When I first started with line counters, my first reels were Cabela's the the older ones called Depthmaster1 I used those reels for 3 years and the counter went haywire then I bought the Depthmaster II the drags used to stick with the first use of the day, all you had to do was pull on the line to like get the drags smooth then they would work good the rest of the day, well one morning I lost a nice eye to this dumbness, and I saw this guy mentioned on here so I called Tom up and he said send them they are the same as some other bigger named reel company, I forget which brand they were. I got them back within 2 weeks that was 6 reels and it was less than a $100.00 I couldn't believe it, that was reasonable. Now they work as good if not better than my original Diawa Sealine's, maybe that's not saying much but they work good enough for me. I also sent a Mitchell TideWater, this goofy reel works so smooth but it reads in meters, when the number 1 comes up its over a 3ft of line out, I called him up and asked, could you put the yard gears in it which was good, but the guy on the end needs to be able to count in 3's like 1,2,3=3,6,9ft I have nothing bad to say, swift turn around, reasonable, nice to talk to. Tuna Tom's the man for me anyway!!! He made my junk work good enough for me, now I can set divers just to the point they don't creep out on their own.

Mercruiser has a prop size calculator on line, the prop your running is what I'm running, but I have a 22fter with a 350 Mercruiser that was rebuilt by my uncle as he has a speed shop, that specializes in dirt modified race cars my motor is bored .30 over which makes it a 355ci, with very good heads and a 260hp marine cam. With a 500cfm Holley "2" barrel carburetor, I did this so I could use the original intake, to keep my linkage " shift & throttle " the same. I had a 21" prop on that prop I couldn't get on plane for a long time. Then I tried a 15"x15" she jomped out of the water but I was pushing 4800rpm at 23mph. Then I tried a 17x15 which works the best for me, it still stood up in the front but got on plane quick and at 3500rpm which seems where everything works the best I get 28-30 mph. I also added trim tabs to cure my hole shots now the nose stays down and I gained a few mph's. The tabs were one of the best things I put on the boat!! So a 17"X 15" did the best for me, my boat is heavy.

Great job Kevin, my dad loved to eat pike, one day we did a experiment we cubed walleye and pike and beer battered the both and 9 out of 10 couldn't tell the difference. The way the Canadians fillet pike is they cut down to the y bone and along the top and they take that strip from the top to the y bones the rest gets chucked. We thought what a wast!! This was up in Quebec years ago, we made meals out of their fish, I picked the y bones out and deep fried them uuumm good, we were rather upset with those guys. They did get a ear full when the owner saw the 10# walleye head they nailed to the tree, your supposed to release the females.

Holy shyt man that's a haul!!! Last time I saw a catch like that we took a charter out of Port Clinton, we took High Adventures Charters, we left the dock at 6:00am and we were back at 11:00am with a 7 man ticket. I asked the Captian if I could use my handheld gps he said he don't give a rats behind. We were staying at his lodge and tend to fish the rest of the week with our own boats. I will honestly say that was the best trip we had since our last trip to Canada. Oh about the gps I got all the spots he went to. I turned it on and tracked our entire trip. Well maybe we did cheat a little, but still needed to catch, Em. Wish you the best on your trip, I'm going in mid June!!

Totally Awesome guys the pic really bring back memories of when I was a kid I always had beagles still do, but all the farmers around here planted houses instead of corn, you can no longer run dogs without the fear of what happened to me, lost two dogs at the same time due to a automobile, that never stopped.

I'm going to see what Whaler has to say. He certainly has seen enough of the dogs to give a educated call on what it may be. I would be willing to say it's a crossbreed. There has been a ongoing study that the NY yotes are migrating north and interbreeding with Maine and the Canadian red wolf. This might be one of those cross breeds, which could lead to a problem, now they will rule the woods and this has been the wildlife managements upmost concern. I certainly hope not!!!

Last year I got this brain fart to run the suffix leadcore, with that stuff they do not recommend the willis knot they want you to tie a double uni knot. Talk about patients first the lead is hard as hell to get out it just breaks off. After a few hrs. to no avail I just attached it with a #8 spro swivel. I know it's more links to fail but I was at a loss for other ways. It worked well at the end of the season last year. See what happens this year?

Excellent job Chase, that's some fine fishing there. I'm kind of like Floatfisher, I never had a great day on the ice. I even booked a trip to the Bay of Quinte and got skunked there all I caught was little perch like 2-3"ers. The temp was -35*F and 20-30mph winds the guy took us out on a snowmobile to the shanty where we stayed for hrs with only a 1burner propane heater, I was never so cold in my life, by day 3 no eyes I didn't go with the rest of the guys, thank god I didn't. On the way back to the motel they hit a snowstorm and got into a accident, the car was still drive able. We packed up and came home. I feel as if that outfitter took our money and ran. After a day why didn't we move or something. That was my last ice fishing trip.

Many a day I sat in the trailer for days waiting for the wind to die down, I had a 18ft Troller center console, open bow. I usually fished the river (Black) but you can only troll so many hrs up and down before you get nuts. Many of my 5 days of vacation were a bust. The guys that live near by it's not bad but being 250 miles away makes it tough. I now own a 22ft Cuddy, it still not a ship but at least I can go when I couldn't before. -
It definitely a illusion, I saw a show on this once before. If you set up a transit and shoot the grade it will show you it's a illusion and the grade is actually the opposite direction. But yet your mind swears your going Down hill when actually the landscape is the opposite. There's no way in hell a car or any other object will roll up hill. This has played on the mindset of many folks that would lose a weeks paycheck to say it's downhill!!.
