  1. Congrats to your king Justin, when your doing DBL digits a day is when it gets fun, crazy!!
  2. Really nice brown, great report!!!
  3. Maybe add a quality swivel, spro, ect. To main line then attach to flasher.
  4. I feel your pain Pike, I had an issue (blew the lower unit) ran the kicker to shore where we met the most generous man. If it wasn't for him I'm not sure what would of happened!! But you talk about what goes around, this man was in trouble with his boat once and 2 guys from PA. towed him a long way. To make a long story short, he said if he could help someone he would go the length the guys that helped him, just so happened we were those guys and to make matters even better we are from PA. He couldn't believe it when he asked where you guys from. The fishermen on LakeO really pull together when the chips are down. I'm glad you and your daughter are alright and lets all shed some light on those who help others out, it could be you that's in need of help next. A big thank you to Captian Pastore!!!
  5. Congrats to your son's first goose hunt, it doesn't matter to them how many you get as long as he's with his #1 mentor. I commend you for taking the time and having the patients to take him along!! He will be telling his kids, "I remember the first time my dad took me goose hunting" just as we remember the first hunt with our dad or family. I'm a firm believer in families that hunt, fish and do the outdoors things together, stay together. Super job dad!!
  6. Yea Fleet but your spring eye fishing was fantastic, on days when your disappointed just think of the spectacular eye season, not many are doing well at this particular time. Hang in there better times are coming!!
  7. Nice going Kevin, I don't know if I could pull myself from the fantastic eye fishing, but a change of pace would be nice Id say.
  8. Thanks for the info Fishtails, I suspect they are laying tight to the bottom. I have a feeling after this major heat and the mornings are in the 40's things will commence forward.
  9. That's grate Roybee, congrats to your outting!!! The weeds are bad but when the eyes are active it sure make it a little more bearable. Thanks for the report!!!
  10. Hey guys not to change the subject but in the readings above I have a question. When salmon are stacked up like they were out by Henderson then they disappeared, the temp was 70* from top to bottom in 120 FT do you guys think they went back out to colder water of did they make the trek towards the Black RIver. Do they have a biological time clock that tells them when to make the run towards the river or can they wait till the conditions are right for them. The reason I ask is my uncles were up all week bass fishing and were on the Black River and didn't notice any activity. So they were there and now there not, what's your take on this. Thanks pap.
  11. Thanks for the detailed report Fleet, I'm wondering, do the fish make the trek on a natural, biological time clock or can they wait till conditions are right. I know we had hot days in September but usually the nights are way cooler?
  12. Now that's funny!! I wouldn't care if they all get cut in half. It took a lot of convincing my daughters to come out with me after we had a rather large one sucked fast to a laker, they thought it was a snake, as it fell off and slithered around on the floor, they jumped up on the seats, while they screamed "kill the snake dad" then they asked does that hurt the fish, when I showed them the mark they leave. I then told the girls what actually happens when a lamprey attaches to a fish.
  13. Awesome fish folks, glad to see family fishing together!! I have twin daughters and they love to fish off dads boat!! Congrats to your day!!!
  14. When I first started using downriggers a buddy of mine had a pancake mold so we made a few and we had the same trouble, so we bent the tail fin so it tracks slightly away from each other. The other thing we noticed that when you load up your pole from the tail fin it actually lifts the tail of the pancake up and they go every which way and your not down where you think you are because your lifting up on the weight. 30 pound test sea flea, and a torqued up rod has to lift that weight. I switched to torpedo weights and they track strait with no problems.
  15. Now that's not hard to believe!!! LOL
  16. Fleet, what was the color of the female you landed yesterday?, if themp was warm all the way to the bottom of the trench I hope they went back out to deeper water, my uncle and his buddy were up for a week, they fished 50/60ft of water for smallies, 70* in closer, the salmon will die if they made the trek up the Black.
  17. That's great Kevin, I know if I were a member of your church I'd be bellied up to the table with a fork in each hand. I never got to eat a walleye that I didn't have to catch, fillet and cook myself before I got to tast it. I'm sure you will have a "gracious" crowd at your church dinner. I know the folks will be happy for you, and the fish, also to taste the best fresh water fish going. Congrats to you!!

    SLR eyes

Congrats to your catch, seems like the river is giving up some nice eyes this year!!
  19. Congrats guys, nice bunch of eyes there. Well done!!
  20. Yea man, congrats on the first king, now you will get this incredible desire to do it again and before you know it you'll be hooked on the drug called salmonitis, now on a more serious note great job and that looks rather bright also, hope it's not a indication that it will be another late run. What's your thought??
  21. That's awesome, great looking repo. That's on hell of a nice birthday gift!!
