Sandy Creek 7/3 on the Double D
Xxx replied to dvdegeorge's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Hey that's great, if your catching enough fish to keep the goddaughter happy and interested your doing good!! My girls are 10 I know how fast they loose interest, and she certainly doesn't look bored to me, not with that smile. I really like to see the young children get involved in the outdoors. Thanks for taking a child fishing!!! Hope your 4th was as good as your day on the water.!!! -
Cayuga Cayuga made a young mans day today!
Xxx replied to Great Lakes Lure Maker's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Totally awsome Jason, I'm sure the young buck will never forget this banner day, also says a lot about Great Lake Lure Company's products!! That was very thoughtful of you to take on that job of rebooting and replacing the gimbal, that a job in itself!!! Been there. Thanks for taking a kid fishing. My cousin's little boy Jake is a hard core fisherman and he's chomping at the bit to hook into a king, he's 8 but a good little guy, I can't wait to hook a slob and hand him the pole. Again congrats to your day. -
Bay rat takes 41 inch Otisco Lake tiger
Xxx replied to justtracytrolling's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Yea those bay rat take a licking and keep catching, I had a 39" northern smack the goby rat, he had it right back in the corner of his mouth maybe a 15 minute vicious fight on 50# power pro, the rat survived only teeth marks. Congrats to your catch, I bet you thought the same thing as I when I had a drum just about spool me out in Lake Erie, after I saw it I was disappointed but it was fun!!! The shirts are cool, let us know when you get them in. I need a XL. -
I wish you the best, with your new & improved business, this post really hits home for me. My dad and I started in business together in 1983 I was 17 then and he knew more about the starters and alternators than I, as we grew older together the roles changed as he retired and I took over the show in 93. Then he worked for me just to say it was always a 50/50. We worked side by side 6 days a week never did we ever have a bad day, on weekends we were together, we went to fly in trips to Canada fishing together. I had the best dad ever!! Not only were we father and son we were best friends. Dad passed away at age 75 after battling cancer for 3 years, his last words were, please take care of that beautiful wife of yours and my twin grand babies who were only 2 then. I think it's awesome you show respect and confidence both in your dad and yourself, that will be the best tool in your shop and the road to success!!! Keep us posted on your progress to another American made lure company, Adam. Best of luck to you, your father and your grandfather, your a lucky man to have 3 generations of knowledge working together, lots of wisdom for you to consume for a young man but I'm sure you'll do just fine. Slow day out of Sandy creek
Xxx replied to Benfolkhero's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Well I like to say "cranking in all those fish tuckered out the little guy" but the long day might of got the best of him, either way it's nice to see the kids in fishing photos!!! Kudo's to you dad for taking him along, they don't really care as long as they think there're the big cheese going with dad on the big water!! Hopefully next time will have more action, nice post, -
Welcome aboard Redm2, good luck on your trip!! PAP

Absolutely, Les, more than once people posted they lost their tackle box or left stuff behind and folks returned it. Got to be positive about it.

Glad to hear your back at it W.W.I.V. Don't feel bad my uncles just got back from LakeO' they took my cuisin along who's dad is a semi-pro bass fisherman they fished Chaumont Bay Sackets Harobr Cherry Island. They fished for 3 1/2 days with 3 guys and caught 54 fish 1 was a 10# drum, no large mouth all smallies. The first day they fished Chaumont Bay and boated 27 thinking they were going to have great fishing but each day the fishing got worse boating 19 and the last day they fished from 7:am till 2:pm catching 8 fish Saturday. They only fish artificial soft baits and no trolling all casting.

Gotcha, thanks buddy!!! Did you guys get the monsoons up there as we did, wow did we get wind and rain, an actuall tornado touched down about a mile from us, pretty damn scary, I've never in all my life saw the sky as black and weird looking grayish clouds hanging down like a giant spiderweb, I bet we got 5 inches of rain from 3:pm till 3:am this morning, I didn't sleep a wink last night. You know something is wrong when the dog is acting strange, being a beagle he's not bothered by the loud thunder but he just sat between the girls and wouldn't move, they can sence when something is wrong, I'm convinced of that!!

I don't get it either? But just think back when snagging salmon was legal, it was a suicide mission people came from all over the country, for a 1/2 dead salmon, NY state made coo-coo$$$. The first time my dad was going to take me I chickened out, after seeing 3 ambulances and each one had a costumer, guys fist fighting, rolling around in the river. I said lets go back to the trailer and get in the boat and do some bass fishing, he couldn't say OK fast enough. I guess everyone has their own idea of fun. I'm more content with 1 or 2 other guys and fish out of my boat. Take care Justin!!!

Out of all the different types of clothes a outdoorsman can purchase, I honestly believe good quality rain outfit has to be the most exspensive outfits you will ever buy, when my brother passed away I got his rain gear. I think it was close to $600 for the paints and jacket, he purchased it for hunting out west, it's really soft and it's quiet and you don't sweat that your under clothes get wet. Besides his fly rod and vest which is in a glass case in my man cave along with my dads American flag (Korean War Vet.) that rain suit I really cherish. I will wear it this deer season, but for fishing I like my Frogg Toggs!!!
-
I agree Justin, we fished the lake, most of the time(during the week) you might be the only boat in sight, the charters go out where we stayed but the majority go out of Wild Wings about 3/4 miles east of where we stayed. There's more combat fish on LakeO'

Excellent job guys, that's a lot of pure dedication and some engineering, those bottom bouncers look awesome Prof.T, like Kevin stated, take the 90* bend up at least a foot above your top cap and that will be Dynamite!!! I like them so much I'm going to make some. Thanks for the pic. That was very nice of you.

Congrats to your slammer day!!! That was more that a walleye chop you had to fish in but it paid off!!! Nicely done H&C'em the one year we were 1 shy of a 3 man ticket it was a wind driven rain day with waves breaking over the bow, looking back you almost needed a few screws loose to be out there to begin with, matter a fact we noticed this bigger white boat getting closer and closer till we noticed it was the Coast Guard in their big Grady White. First they asked if we were alright second they wanted to see our fish, the one Guard was amazed with our catch, then they advised us to head in as there was a small craft advisory in effect so we never got our limit. It was the smart thing to do, get off the water that is.

X2, I got a pair on a in store sale when I was in Cabelas(Hamburg) Real Tree camo, now with my fluro line and camo rain suit I should be deadly LOL!!!
-
I go to the Hamburg store at least 4-5 times a year, it's pretty cool the kids like the fish tank and the trout stream and they like the safari critters. I only have a couple of complaints, first off they are not the best on prices for lures, and they don't a lot of the item you guys have as for as trolling paraphernalia, run of the mill paddles and spin doctors and spoons. They don't stock a lot of the walleye lure making stuff like what's in their catalog, but they are getting that area a little better, since a bunch of guys complained, that's what I was told by a service rep. Most of the time anything that goes on sale that's a hot item they only put out so many, then they say they are out, like the store only sales, for instance the depth finders. Other than that it's a nice store.
-
Man that's a deal!!! I wish I could turn back the pages of time, I'd be way a head of the game, some of the prices I've seen on here make me want to kick myself in the a$$. But I'm in to deep now to turn back.
