They are making damn sure that there is no repercussions with the use of this treatment. I give them credit there, where before one thing did good but years later they found that it caused grief with something else.

Or a cracked manifold putting pressure in the water system, basically back flushing the water the opposite direction putting water in #8 cylinder? The mechanic at our hometown, is a Merc. Distributer for the NE PA. And he told me if I didn't put the shutters in the Y pipe I could get water in the motor by simply backing the boat in to fast or having it docked with roller against the transom could do it, so I put new ones in and never had a problem. Why I had taking them out, was one fell to the bottom of the Y pipe causing the exhaust to back up and was choking the port side of the motor, while putting it back together, I put new manifolds on and where the riser bolts on if you look in there it's a strait shot to the exhaust port on the head, so I can plainly see water getting in there if there's nothing holding it back!!

Thanks buddy, I knew you if anyone would be able to help the guy out, can I get my 22ft Sea Ray to your dock? Weather permitting either this Saturday or next I will be coming up to put on my new/used lower unit, would like to get together, pm me your cell# as I lost it, I'll give you a call when I think I'll be able to get there. My uncle and friend are coming up and they are masons, so the rain this week might not allow us to make it this week but if not definitely the following week it will be, I really hope it's the following week on the account of the high water. Did you ever fish above the dam on the Black River? I would really like to go up there. I'll pm you the rest of the story. PAP.

After that give it a can of Sea Foam in the gas. It will loosen up gummy rings, less blow by, when engine is hot how much air comes out the valve cover breather?

I was wondering what in the heck this Coaming pad thing was? I didn't want to sound stupid, and still didn't know till the pic. was posted, now I'm guessing it's the padding that goes around the boat, kind of like a soft bumper for the inside. The stuff I rip off because it's always rotted on the back and about to fall off. Now this pvc board how big of a sheet can ou get and how thick is it, how do you get staples in it? Thanks for any input. I kept all the covers they were in excellent shape on my boat, someone replaced them but used real thin plywood and they rotted away but the foam and covers are like new and I would put them back on, but I was thinking I had to have it done by one that does upholstery.

To much, make offer!!! This motor will replace any small. Block Chevy 283. 305,307.327,400, any mercruiser with a GM V8 from the 70's to the time of fuel injection late 90's recently rebuilt by a well known engine builder in this area, the motor has the best of the best inside it has the best heads Chevy ever made on it with a OE 4 barrel and a duel point distributed if I don't sell complete there are guys wanting the heads, block because all marine motors are 4 bolt mains and rod a highly sought after block for the racing field, also there is fuely 202 heads on this motor, big valve and compression. I was told she pushes 275/300 HP I would like to keep this motor in the marine field where it belongs at $800.00 that's less than half of a rebuilt long block, where you still need a intake, carb, distributer wires plugs, he'll just drop this baby in hook up the plug and turn key, the starter and alt. come with also!!!!

$800.00 complete, all brackets alternator starter distributor intake, carb, remove and install, no manifolds or risers, those are seperate, or $1000.00 for complete system its a closed water system with thru hull exhaust.

Hey guys I bought a 1983 Baha kind of speed/cuddy, for peanuts, I needed the lower unit which was a exact match to mine, now I have all kind of parts mercruiser 350 which was rebuilt 4 barrel and duel point distributor with a closed water system, bell housing you name it, willing to sell cheap!! I need to get rid of this stuff. I know this paraphernalia is getting harder to get, the deal was I get rid of the boat, which I'm going to strip all the good stuff and to the landfill goes the boat, the guy wants the trailer back, the rails and gauges, lights flywheel thru hull exhausted it all there, and in good shape, I heard the motor run sound good I wanted to see and hear the lower unit before I got into this project. I will give fellow LOU. Members first bite at much lower cost than Joe off the street, he will pay the going price. Any comments welcome I can store till needed or I can meet someplace on my way to lake.

I looked into Summit Racing web page on marine carbs, the Edlebrock doesn't have a idle adjustment, what the hell, I'm alway turning at mine, for different types of fishing, the Holley carbs are adjustable and less money, not to mention you will need a spacer plate as all the EdleBrock carbs are square bore, Holley makes a direct replacement but says if you have a heat riser plate for your choke you'll need to use the riser plate also, so really no easy direct bolt on replacement unless you have electric choke then the Holley will bolt right on.

Gotch ya, I tried everything one can imagine, locking the wheel doesn't mean your going to go straight LOL. I guess that's next, man I'm going to have to throw my hat in the door first before I enter after this!!!
-
They make spacer plates for under the risers, I would be putting in new shutters.
-
I don't think there's a difference with carbs as long as you use a spark arresters. I think it has to be hard lined up to the carb though. What do you mean by the J tube?

Not to change the subject, but how do you guys set up when solo? {auto pilot} how do you keep the boat straight, I tried a bungy on the wheel worked to some degree. Maybe you guys have a better way!!

What side is getting water if it's pre 1983 other than the shutters the water can pour right into # 8 cylinder if a valve is open, either way being a V8 there is a shutter on each side. I hope for your sake it's newer than 83, if not you'll need to pull the motor and the Y pipe to install new shutters, newer ones are right under the riser in the pipe. Easy job.

Do yourself a favor and put a Edlebrock performer carb on, they were designed to replace the quadrajet, better low end performance and better fuel economy!!!

I have a Sea Ray and my engine cover is just a little bump in the floor most of the engine is below the floor, I really never took noticed, but my risers are like the other boats I had my risers are like 6"'s above the exhaust manifold I don't know how much above the water line as its a deep floor, my gunnals are up to my waist. Was this always a issue? Or now becoming a issue, what engine is it? I wouldn't think Bayliner would build a misfit, but one never knows.

I would suspect that the exhaust shutters either rusted off or are stuck open, they are designed to keep the water from doing what it's doing, they are metal coated in rubber flappers that close when no exhaust pressure is blowing against them and close when no pressure is against them depending on the year, 1985 or newer they are located below the riser in the exhaust pipe, mine I had to pull the motor and the Y pipe out to install new ones. If they fail just backing the boat in the water to fast can fill the #7 & 8 cylinder causing a hydro lock and rolling sea's against the transome can also do it. Google exhaust shutters to see what they look like and their functions. I was going to let them out but was quickly told that would be a costly mistake. Good luck.
