  1. I would install another cleat the same distance of the other cleat, or install two cleats where you want them, the job would be easy as you have a cuddy to add a flat washer and nut,. Don't just use the wood screws they come with, drill a hole through into the cuddy and attach the cleats with a tapered head bolt with a big flat washer and a nylon locking nut.
  2. Awesome catch guys, great pics. also congrats to your day!! I can't wait to get back up there, I blew my lower unit 6 hours into the walleye season, this week my new lower unit comes, I hope!! I farted around thinking I could rebuild it but the cost of the parts alone I was half the price of a new one so that's a no brainer. PAP
  3. Gotcha, yea like Bruce said tighten up you releases, that will make a big difference also, good thought!!o
  4. I totally agree with the last paragraph of that write up. Once you pull the female off her bed the gobies devistat the eggs and the nest. They should have never changed the law making it legal to target out of season bass. The season was implemented for a reason to protect the fish and the offspring!!
  5. When you said no drag, flasher and spoon, did you mean no flasher or with flasher, I find the stleelie's are hard to keep hooked also, but you should have drag set, that's what drives the hooks home, depending on the size flasher your running I had them hit the flasher instead of the spoon, I'm not BSing we had a situation, we were getting releases but no one was home this went on most of the morning, finally I had enough and decided to change out the hooks on the spoon, so reeled everything in and went to sharpen the hooks when I noticed the flasher was all scratched up, you could tell they were teeth marks, so I switched out the flasher for a not so flashy one then the spoon was getting the action not the flasher, we set the drag tighter and then we started getting fish in the boat. I'm not a veteran at this but your situation sounds like the one I had, just thought I would say what we encountered.
  6. Awesome catch man, congrats to the guys also, as soon as my lower unit arrives those eyes are going to pay!! LOL.
  7. Yea I ran two of the 22", but I would go with what he recommends, because he will exchange your bags if your not happy, if you buy the wrong one's on your own and they don't work you might be stuck with them. Just saying let the Amish dude make the call, that way you will be able to exchange them.
  8. That's a pretty ingenuous idea. Like the liquid black tape, then just cut a small slit, like you mentioned!!! Sweet, Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts!!
  9. Yea that is a cool shirt. The pics. of your fish prove your shirt is right!! Congrats to your day. It certainly appears that the young fellow is happy with the results. Thanks for taking a young one fishing, usually I say kid, but he's a little older and I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate being called a kid. That's just not cool.
  10. Before I decided to go with a kicker motor I tried the bags. I have a 22ft cuddy and with only 1 bag it pulled the boat to the side then I got another one and it worked very well. I ankered my bags a tad before mid ship and that really pulled the bow down and made the boat very stable in rough water. Just saying I tried 1 bag, but you need 2, I used the 22" bags and I could get down to 1mph at an idle, my motor is mercruiser 350 with a 17" prop. I went to a 15hp kicker as I do a lot of trolling and I'd rather fuel a 2 cylinder than the V8, plus the idea of another motor if my main quits on me when I'm off shore. The first trip out this year my kicker saved my a$$ as my lower unit went bad. Lots of way to look at things. Bags are cheaper and not much can go wrong plus they get the job done, where a kicker is a lot more paraphernalia to drag around, but socks won't get you back to shore.
  11. Awesome going guys, nice size eater!! Congrats to your catch!!
  12. My dad once told me how to make carp, first you need a thin pine board cook the fish on the board when the meat is white and flakey, basically done you fire the fish in the garbage and eat the board!! YUMMY LOL.
  13. My uncle just went through this hole thing, he lives in NY. For 6 months than he goes to Florida for the other 6 months. He was told he needed a physical address in NY. to register his boat in NY. So he got a post office box and number, then the following year he was considered a resident. Then he registered his boat in NY. and he leaves it in NY. Maybe there are other ways to do it but that's what the DMV person explained.

    Boat Survey

I wish I had known about a survey before I bought my boat, it was before I found this site. Definitely get it done, what I got into a (1982) I could of bought a mid (90's) off this site. A education comes with a hell of a price tag!!
  16. Awesome story, I mean right to the seconds, also had some nice days unlike last years derbies. You were bless with some nice fish to bad they didn't make the $$ board, with a sportsman attitude you stated there's always next year. I like your train of thought, congrats to you and your crew. Only one thing that I'm not looking forward to is that one word you used "Labor Day" but in reality it will be here, like you mentioned sooner than we want. Best of luck throughout the season!!!
  17. I'm getting there buddy, the boat only sits 50 yard away from the water but without the lower unit it might as well be 50 miles right!! Be going back together this week, got all but 1 part yet supposed to be here Tuesday. I can't go any further till it arrives, a G'Dam collar that goes over the shaft the keeps it from rideing up or down, that's what broke and allowed the main shaft to ride out of the lower bearing, low cost repair, just hard finding small parts for a pre-alpha. Got your # so I'll give you a shout on the way up thank man!!! PAP.
  18. YOW, that's one slammer of an eye, kudos to the release fellas!!!
  19. Yea, count me in on froggers comment!! PAP
  20. Hey that ain't bad, that's some fun fishing, congrats guys!! Better luck next time with the Kings!!
  21. Nice going you guys, 70 some fish off the hand lines makes for fierce lumbago, Les I can believe that your burned out, physically and mentally, a day in the recliner with a few cold ones usually does the trick!!! Two thumbs up for your effort, to bad you couldn't make it on to the $$$ board. Take care Les, PAP.
  22. Yea that makes more sense, maybe I'll put my glasses on next time, seems like everything goes to hell once your over 50 LOL.
  23. Man that is a nice laker and nice pic. Of your buck. You will have a nice surf & turf display!!! Congrats on your day.
