Massive Schools of Perch - Underwater VIDEO
Xxx replied to TheFishFinders.TV's topic in Fishing Videos
That would be excellent!! How do you go about it, scuba dive? I know in this vid. You didn't but for other species what's your tactic? By the way your welcome!! I enjoy seeing things like this, especially when the fish are swimming free in their own environment. This takes a lot of time to put together. -

Better yet, go back to the way it was, and make it illegal to target ANY fish not in season. Before it was legal to target bass before the season, we were fishing for perch and the fish com. Came over to our boat and asked what we where fishing for? I replied perch, he said you know this area is a good bass area, and can he look in our live wells, I said certainly all we had was perch, he said he didn't know such nice perch were in this area, and he was concerned we where pulling the females bass of the nest, now it's legal to catch and release of bass? This is the most dumb thing they did. Make it illegal to target any fish before its season and you wouldn't have these guys holding huge smallies and large mouth up for a picture in fear they will be fined for taking a fish out of season. It's that simple.

My wife is a school teacher also and every year the do a dissection of trout. Every year there are 3 different hatcheries that donate 5 trout each they want to know what's going on inside there fish also, usually the trout are fine and the kids do a great job (5thgraders) but this year they found a white in color, odd looking spots on the stomaches of the trout from 1 of the 3 hatcheries. The kids dissected the stomaches and put the spots under a microscope, they then learned it was a stomach parasite that can be contagious to the rest of the fish and if not treated can cause growth problems and eventually death. They contacted the hatchery with their results and he was glad they found this, it can be cured by adding some sort of "medication" LOL. To the water. The hatchery owner was glad the kids did this and found what could have been a real issue. In return of their findings, the hatchery owner also has a fish & pay lake he invited my wife's entire science class to fish his lake for free with a 3 fish per student limit, they were jumping for joy, most of the class went and it was a great day!! What he lost in fish to the kids was nothing compared to what he could of lost had this parasite gone unnoticed.

I use the #8 SPRO power swivel to attach the fluorocarbon leader to the main line which is usually the length of the rod and a #2 duo lock snap at the busness end to attach spoon, these swivels will fit through the eyes of the pole, so you can reel the fish to the boat, no need to walk back or handline the fish to the net. The SPRO #8 is rated to 65#s and will fit through the line guides on some makes and models of reels so best to keep leader the length of the rod. Fatboyjack1 this site is awesome and a wealth of information, but you can read and watch all the video's you want, there's nothing like actually doing it yourself, the gratification you get when you land that fish is awesome!!! Good luck on your trip, with this goofy weather we are having there's no telling what the month of June will be like. Pap. -

Ahh gotch ya, if I had known it was yours I wouldn't have suggested this, I took it as all this other was gone over already, anyway that was my issue, a shot of carb cleaner in her and she purrs like a kitten. Yea, tighten up hose clamps hook up motor line and squeeze the ball hard, that will push out the fuel at the weak link!!! Hope he finds it, just something stupid being over looked!!! Oh and if the ball doesn't get rock hard the primer bulb is bad.
-
I'm talking where the fuel line runs into the motor itself, should be a black round or square with a screw to hold it onto the side of the engine itself, you must remove the engine cover and follow the fuel line up till it goes into the engine, there is a screen under that cover where the fuel enters the side of the carb.

Yea, the big guy in the sky was defiantly looking over us that day!!! We will be back, waiting on parts for the lower unit, tore the lower shaft off. The mechanic I deal with thinks I should drop down in gear, as the boat originally had a 305cid, that was junk when I got it since then I put a 350cid in its place. The motor was built by my uncle who builds dirt modified race engines so it's got more HP than the original 305 rated at 185hp, he figured it to be 260 or better.

You are not bugging anyone, that's what we're here for, I had simular issues this spring, I put my kicker in a barrel to test run before she heads north. First off she started hard, like blisters between my fingers!! Finally she started would idle fine but wouldn't take any fuel, just stall but would fire up on the first pull, I did everything I could think of finally I pulled the fuel line off at the motor and found there is a screen type filter in there which was corroded and brownish looking fuel layed in the filter(I used fresh gas in the gas tank) so I shot carb cleaner directly into carb. put it back together and like Les mentioned I removed but a gallon of fuel and mixed a super strong batch of gas and Sea Foam started the motor up and let it idle for 10 minutes tried to give it throttle and it took more but acted up, kept doing this and soon it cleared up with no more problems, trolled Wednesday and half day Thursday till my lower unit decided to crap out on me, trip over, but kicker is strong as we used it to get to a dock where a nice man helped us out!!!

That store was awesome, we used to stop there and get supplies on our way to our Canada Trips walleye magic do you remember the jig head assortment they had? And the Walleye Delight worm harnesses? I caught my first ever eye on the chartreuse and Orange beetle spin bodies, they also had a net assortment like I never saw before, I actually bought a rubber Ranger net which I still have to this day. This store was way ahead of the times. The water temp on the surface was 56* as of last Wednesday and out at the last set of buoys at 15ft was 54* but I'm sure that has changed since last Wednesday, there was a SW wind so it was blowing right up the river. The north shore was colder and that water has made its way into the bouy area. I don't know the outcome of that as that's when I powdered my lower unit.

Fleet the pics of the trout are really nice!! But the one with little fleet is priceless, what a handsome young man you got there!! They grow up fast. It seems like yesterday we brought our daughters home and now they are 10 and chomping.at the bit to hit lakeO, I just wish I could get onto a banner day like you had with the girls, about 5 years ago we had a similar experience with the smallies between sunken isl. and Galloo isl, we must have caught 100 fish and that's no exaggeration, it was late in the evening and just about dark till we got the boat on the trailer. Went back the next day with my cousin and couldn't buy a hit, funny how that works. Just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Tight lines to you and stay on those eyes I might need some advice next time up. Pm me your cell # so I can get in touch with you!! Thanks PAP.

Very cool, it almost looked like a aquarium full of perch, my uncle was going nuts over the perch as they are his favorite fish to catch and eat!! Thanks for sharing!!! PAP. -
Well maybe till I get stuff put back together things will have turned around, it's funny how some say they are catching eyes while others are struggling?? I remember years ago I had my girl friend up and she is now my wife and our girls are 10 so it must be 15-18 years ago, at Memorial Day week end we caught well she caught a 2 man ticket around the bouys, I had a 18ft Troller open bow center console and the waves were coming over the bow and it was non stop action, that following weekend I brought my buddy Danny up and we did well then again, I wonder if this is going to be the case this year? Oh ya I remember we went over to Fay's for some supplies that's how many years ago it was.
