Yes the Spro swivels are what I was referring to the 10's are smaller as they are rated at 35#, I have a pack in my hands right now, and the size 8's are a tad bigger, you can see the difference, but have to really look and they are rated at 50#. I use the 8's for most of my fishing, I just bought 4 Diawa Sealine 47H reels for my leadcores and the 8's won't fit through the line guides, so I got the 10's and they work and at 35# I think I'll be alright, if a eye tears me off using 35# swivels he deserves to live!!! LOL. SPRO is the way to fly in my opinion.

Welcome Bearcreek, I live about 20 miles. Below the Pocono Race Track, great guys and gals on here, that will help you out. Tight lines to you this year!!! PAP.

You can get enough backer on a #30 reel use a power pro or something similar, stay with 30# no bigger and you won't have any problem. One thing you need to make certain is, that you keep the braid line super tight on the spool. What I do is use one reel and crank on your 7 colors then crank on you backing. Now it's on the reel backwards, so I run it through the eyes of a pole and mount the other reel on the pole then attach your backer to the other reel and then I put it in the vice give it some drag so it cranks on the other reel with a little resistance and crank it on the other reel. Then the backer is tight and your leadcore is on top ready to go. Sounds like a lot of work but it's the only way I found to put the exact amount of backer to the reel with the right amount of colors. Good luck and tight lines to you. PAP.

On my walleye rod I use the sizes 8-10, I use the 8's on the okuma 47's because the 10 won't fit through the line guide on the reel and I use the 10's on my other reels as they pass through the line guides, and my salmon rods I use the 150# swivels and keep the leaders the length of the pole. The 8's are rated at 35# and the 10's are rated at 50#.

Mark 1 Charters, we went there for 5 years, that guy will put you on fish!! Every time we went out with him we left the dock at 5:30am and we were back at the latest by 12:00 noon with a 6 man ticket. He has condo's that are just beautiful with nice Walleye mounts on the walls and very clean. There is a laundry area right in your room and a nice fish cleaning station, they also do that for you. First class operation that won't break the bank. Look up Mark 1 Charters on the web. He has a nice site that explains everything. Only one draw back is the rooms are about 10 minute drive to the water. The second year we took our own boats and we docked them in a marina that had 24/7 surveillance, then it's a 10 minute drive to the condo. Hope this helps PAP

Yea I can't even imagine what it's like up there, it was nice to sled up there for a week at a time but after awhile it gets old. Hang in there Finsntin we are all in this world together, I just saw the long rang forecast for the entire NE. And below average temps. Is the word!! UUGGG if I see one more flake I might flip!!

Now that's just wrong, and not fare!!! Lakebound88, Well we got around 6"s and man were the roads slick, they drove it flat and it turned to solid ice!!! There's only a handful of ponds that the ice is gone. Beltzville still has a solid 12"s yet, we need some 50* days for about a week or more to rid this ice. I'm so ready for the soft water, till then stay warm and think spring!!!

Like I mentioned earlier about electrical problems, most people put the carriage before the horse, it's most of the time, either a connection at the power source or a bad ground. Even though I use a.zip tie to hold all the wires together when I pull the batteries I missed one for the running lights, in my mind I had all the wires on well I back tracked and sure enough there hung a wire. A man wants to kick himself in a$$ at that point. I glad you found the problem!!!!!

Xxx replied to quill gordon's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
The long rang forecast up till April is supposed to be below average to just above freezing, that's for the entire North East. Of the country, just saw it on the weather channel!! -

So what your saying is Garmins charts are way better than Navionics, but only their cards work in their units? how is their selections of lakes compared to Navionics?
-
I don't mind that, as long as it gets replaced, and not out of my pocket. I paid $4000 for my boat. 1982, 22ft cuddy, so if it gets smashed on the road, they will pay me the $4000 right? That's the understanding I got from boatU.S. What The guy explained to me is it only replaces what you already have, so that one can't go buy a piece of crap say he paid whatever, $4000 and total it on purpose and get a newer or better boat. The towing service that BoatUS supports is on lakeO, there was another towing service but from what I got, they aren't on lakeO. I Didn't get anything yet as I'm still looking, I'm going to call the place that Larry mentioned and see what they have to offer, so far Progressive is at $230. With no gear and I didn't ask what that would be and BoatUS is $300. Which so far is the best bang for your $$$ next will be the place Larry has. See what happens.

That's nice why wouldn't Garmin make their unit compatible to Navionics, makes no sense to me??

Hey Les your going to miss the next snow storm, starting tomorrow at 5am and it's supposed to give us a nice and white 4-8" by tomorrow night, aren't we lucky!!! Clearwater, my mom used to live there, the wife and I used to go every other year. I remember the gulf coast had some of the nicest beaches and the water was like a bath tub. We did some really cool shelling, I still have the big conch shells they are hard as hell to pull out of the mud. Have a great time and safe trip home!!! PAP

Wow Larry, that sounds like something right out of MonsterQuest, what a incredible experience, definitely a once in a life time experience also. I would think that there are no words to explain EXCACTLY how it was other than being on the scene living the actual moment!!! Thanks so much for the stories, it does paint a good idea of what goes on down there, but being there in person is the only way one could fathom the real deal. I hope for you this opens a whole new window in you life, like a magazine or a book, maybe a tv show, I know we talked about some of those might be in the making. I'm happy for you, what a great once in a lifetime experience. I hope you will be able to continue to do this for years to come!! PAP.
