  1. Awsome feedback guys!!! Nice to share tactics. I'm headed back there tomorrow, I purchased a spare transducer for my HDI to make it portable and the chip I have in it has this lake on it, it is electric motor only so need to be on the shelves where it drops from 10 to 20ft now I will have the contours!!!! And 2 extra batteries. I want to try my own version of a slow death rigs with the new style hooks I bought from NorthLand Tackle, quite impressive, and put the stick baits to the test and see what's better.
  2. That's awsome Dennis.
  3. What a beautiful rig, what type of back injury do you have? I've had 3 back surgeries and now have a problem with the plates they put in will know more this Tues. as I had a ct scan yesterday, the Doc said he doesn't see the bonding of the plates to the bone like it should be, but whatever the situation I will not sell my pride and joy. I put up with the pain so I can go FISHING!!! Don't be so quick to sell, you might regret it later. Just speaking from the heart. Sorry to hear about your injury PAP.
  4. I watched a show called The Next Bite and it was about using a new trick with stick baits, and what they did was use a small piece of night crawler on the front hook that stands away from the lure when you lay the front hook back, this wont effect the action of the lure. We tried this method on a body of water near home. We caught 5 eyes that day along with smallies and nice crappie, 90% of the fish came on the lures with the bait tipped with the crawler, we also used smelt scent on the other baits to give them a equal chance but the crawler tipped lures out fished those scented lures. Just some food for thought. PAP.
  5. Absolutely beautiful scenery Les, that's why I love to fish in the fall, the scenery is beautiful and the fish usually have the feed bag on. Thanks for sharing Les.
  6. Sounds like a plan!!! I would really like to do that someday!!! Take care over the winter John.
  7. Wow, that's some beautiful country out there. I also saw some good walleye fishing shows from your neck of the woods. Congrats on your hunt and thanks for sharing the photos of the countryside out there!! PAP.
  8. Congrats to you and your wife, I pray for you a healthy little boy. This will be the greatest event you two will ever go threw. He will make memories for you two as parents you will never forget, I had twin girls that are going to turn 10 here in Feb, and it seems like it was yesterday we brought them home. Good luck to the both of you with your little bundle of joy. Life as you once knew it will be no more, but I wouldn't change it for the world. Your friend (PAP) Mike.
  9. Absolutely ericksen13, for are parents we will go the extra mile for, as that's what they did to make us the good people we are today, I really enjoyed reading that you did that last trip, because today's children don't respect their elders like we did and it shows in today's society. Cool post!!!!
  10. I'm not ready to admit its that time of the year yet!! I keep telling myself one more trip LOL but OL' Man winter determines when it's time and its getting closer every day.
  11. I'm so sorry to hear that Wes, I can't imagine loosing a child that young and vibrant, I know how I felt when dad passed away from cancer, he also was my best friend, my fishing, hunting buddy plus the best father anyone could ask for. We will keep him in our prayers as I just lost my brother 4 weeks ago also. Please feel free to pm me your # if you need someone to talk to. My condolences go out to you and your family! PAP.
  12. Well that's certainly better than clubbing the fish over the head and throwing it overboard !!!!, I still like the cradle style nets better, but hey, to each their own.
  13. How much & what length are they? Also they look awesome, did you make them? PAP.
  14. Great job Kevin, no blood makes for a tuff find no matter how good a tracker is, those kind always tast better, congrats man!!!!
  15. No wonder you guys catch fish, your lure is only a 1/8th mile behind the boat (660ft) lol I remember that # from my old drag car days.
  16. Yea, and if the commerants get over populated its a lot easier to control than the gobies. It would be nice to see a major decrease in the gobie population just so the natural reproduction of the other species don't get all there eggs ate up as fast as there coming out. For me it sickens me that the small mouth and walleye eggs get preyed upon like they do. I watched a show called Invasive Species of the Great Lakes and they showed the gobies just devouring the eggs of the small mouth. The lake bottom was just crawling with gobies, they gave a number like 5 gobies per 3ft square, the female smallies were exhausting themselves just trying to protect their nest. It's BAD we really need all the help we can get to rid of a good amount of the gobie population. I have the honor of being the gobie king on my boat, I caught one 9"s
  17. Yea, I wouldn't mind seeing you get into the spinner blades myself, we fish an are were the trick is a #5 Colorado deep dish, very hard to find and very limited in color choices, I found a place where they sell blanks and I powder coat my own, but I'm far from a pro with all the options you would have at hand to come up with something a lot better than I can do. I would order from you should this happen!! Thanks PAP.

Thanks greenglow, I like to share stories that include my dad, and that one just fit the shoe. I post very little anymore. The world is so negative anymore it's a crying shame.
  19. On the fishing channel today it showed the Healing Water program for injured vets. Guides donating there time and a regulated section of the Salmon River was opened for our Vets. Very interesting program with a in depth tour of the hatchery.
  20. X2, isn't that the truth, my girls just said, dad your mustache is getting grey on the ends, the other day I went to the barber and Emily said, man dad that guy really went to town on the top of your head, I told her no that's what having twins does to your hair it falls out. LOL. Very nicely said BS. Nice post!!

I was just telling a story from the late 80's, maybe it was illegal I don't know for sure if it was arrest me. I'm sure we are all guilty of something in our life time one way or another. Thanks BS. I thought I might get some flack. Some folks thrive on that. I have a bad back, but I have broad shoulders!!!!
  22. Congrats Kevin nice bunch of birds, I took noticed that you said it was a blue bird day, does that mean they like to fly to high. I know when we crow hunt we try not to hunt on bluebird days as that's what the crows do they fly way to high, you can get them to come in even with the decoys they will not come into shooting range, instead of educating them, better off packing it in for the day. Mike.
  23. Yea, I have to agree with the other guys posts stating that the new born will be a full time new hobbie, having twin girls I really don't remember the first 3 months, it's just a blurr, getting up every 3 hours to feed them, and changing diapers ect. I couldn't agree more with taking up sleeping as new hobbie might be your best bet. All I herd was just wait you ain't seen nothing yet and those folks where right, now they are 10 and into sports and playing instruments, so it's a constant running here running there. One a better note congrats to you and your wife. This will be life changing experience, trust me on this, I know first hand!!

When we had property on the Perch River we used to go under the bridge and on the other side there is a deep hole 30+ feet and during the opener of walleye season naturally we fish the buoys in the Black River Bay, after we were done fishing on the return trip we always stopped at that hole and we used to cut the white belly meat of the walleyes into like a jig& pig style about 2" long and put that on a yellow jig head and caught many Burbot like that. We would fillet them, cut them into chunk and then steam them like you would a lobster, then dip them into butter. Closest thing to lobster I ever ate!!! My dad loved them the meat would get Snow White when steamed. Not to mention a good fighting fish also. Try it you won't be disappointed.
