I sent my Cabelas brand reels to Tom explaining to him that you have to pull the line with the drag set where you want it, the first time because they all stick, then they are alright the rest of the day, next trip same $hit, he knew exactly what I was talking about. Got all 15 of my reels back, work flawlessly, all done for approx. half the price of a new DM45. He's got my business, and a pleasure to talk to also. PAP.

Field and Stream in Horseheads.
Xxx replied to poverty stricken II's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
I totally agree with the other posts about supporting the local shops, that's why on my way up Monday I have a few stops I want to make to purchase things the larger box store are clueless about. -
I also have the Elite 7 HDI and love it, I always had Hummingbirds and was sceptable about the reviews, but lowrance had a $100.00 rebate and Cabelas marked off a $100.00 so I got a $700.00 plus unit for under $550.00. Lowrance says it only takes the premium plus mapping, but someone on here said they loaded the platinum card, so I called lowrance and they said it can be done, so I bought the platinum chip and they walked me through it and it works great, I couldn't be more pleased with mine, the down scan is clear and I can run 25mph without loosing the bottom, 10-15 mph for looking for fish is no problem!! I never had an issue with it. One thing is I think it takes a long time to lock onto the satellites like a minute or two, as soon as the ducer is in the water I turn it on and buy the time guys park the trailer and hop aboard its ready to go. PAP.

Chase, my planer board masts stick above the Bimini top, and I was scratching my head also, so a buddy of mine is a welder and he said why don't you put a piece of 2" C- channel from planner mast to planer mast, so I bought a 8' peice of channel and he fabricated it, then my options were endless. I put 2 forward driving lights on 2 beam lights to see my boards and 1 flood light in the middle shinning on the back deck, I'm lit up like a Christmas tree. I used a trailer plug 4 prong to wire the lights and a fuse block midship, I ran 10 gauge to the fuse block and each light has its own fuse and when I want to remove the light bar I just unplug the trailer harness type plugs and store it in the cuddy, and 2 pin clips hold the whole works to the planner mast. I will take a pic. Maybe it will give you an idea? PAP Oh you can get an idea from my photo in the name area, I also put 3 pole holders on, a peice of stainless cut on a slight angle and welded, looks like a professional did it LOL.

Absolutely, between Justin and Kevin you two guys saved my a$$ many a days while recouping from my surgery, I couldn't wait to read your posts, and also the guys fishing Erie. Now I just scan the walleye threads, as the stream fisherman battle it out both on the banks and here. I learned the hard way!!!

You can run the Navionics platinum plus, in the spring someone told me its doable, so I called Navionics and the walked me through it and yes it does work flawlessly, I know they claim not, it must be a hdi unit.

I think your odds would be better on Oneida, I know I can fish and catch walleye on Oneida, where LakeO you need to do your homework all year long to know where they are this time of the year, Oneida is smaller and so are the fish, but I'll take 18-24" all day for eaters. Good luck with what ever your decision is and let us know how you made out. PAP

Thanks Kevin, you remind me of my brother, with your turkey hunting which he loved, the only bird I ever shot was one he called in 10" beard and something about it spears on its back legg, well that one will be tough to do again he said, and he loved his goose hunting and of course the river, many smallies and walleye fell victim to his pole. The only thing I didn't care for was his bass boat with a 200hp on the back and he wasn't afraid to use it, I'm more into 20-25mph boats and I think he just did it to put skid marks on my shorts LOL thank again pap.
