  1. The water will be warmer but the fish will be in the freezers
  2. Holy moly dude you are the king, I bought a boat a few years ago just for the outdrive, it was one of those early cigar boats. Anyway it was in better condition than what you showed!! That baby is in the land fill, oh I pulled the motor also. Back to your project congrats that definitely took the patience’s of a saint!! You made someone a happy brand new/used boat owner. Switching motor brands always throws a curve ball into the situation also. Great job, I certainly hope your Grady doesn’t present 1/2 the work involved as the first mission you took on!!!
  3. Wow those are cool looking!! Very nice!!
  4. I have a set of these still in the package if you’d be interested??
  5. There’s nothing like having a positive piece of mind, thinking my boat is as safe as it can be. Let’s you focus more on what’s going on with the lines in the water, not worrying if my electronics are going to puke or anything else that might make the day with your friends not such a pleasant experience!!! Congrats to your mission to have enough electric!!
  6. The Perko switch on both will charge both batteries!! That's what I use. You can isolate your start battery from your electronics battery. If worse came to worse you can switch to both to fire up your main.
  7. The water is way to cold they all went back to the Bay of Quinte
  8. Nice job and congrats to your never ending wire & plyer nightmare, I’m sure there was a few choice words used while hanging from a sky hook to reach into every nook & cranny that the previous owner had going in. You brought that boat a long way since the project started. You should have enough wire to make it worthwhile to make a scrap run and make enough to cover your gas costs running to the different stores to get must have items!!. I know personally how time consuming that project is, plus it’s about as much fun as mowing grass with a push mower.... great job and nice to see how everything progressed as your determination to make it right pushed you to the finish line. Wheeew now you can finally sit in the captains chair with confidence!! Nice job.
  9. Take the ground wire off the battery post and put a test light between the ground wire it’s the alligator clip on the wire end and with the pointed end attach the light to the battery with a clothespin or a small vise grip pliers be sure The pliers don’t touch anything hot, if there’s a draw your light will be on in the test light, now disconnect your charger if that the problem the test light will go out, if not keep removing the fuses and replacing them till the light goes out. Now you know what area to look into as that fuse controls certain things. Gives you a ball park area to search.
  10. He’s a very nice man retiring from a store he has so he can spend more time on the water himself and his wife. I got a pm back from him this morning. He’s probably packaging the stuff he sold this morning. First guy on the totem pole is the winner. Please be patient all his stuff or nearly most never saw water.
  11. I don’t know about strait out from the boat? I went on a charter last year with some friends and they knew how to run those boards, so that gave the captain lots of time to talk to us about fishing stuff. I thought the same thing they were far behind the boat, like it was difficult to tell if the flags were up or what, those guys didn’t think anything was wrong?? I was a little puzzled, like I’m used to the big boards, I come to think that’s their way of being stealthy, the boats through that area long before the boards follow through?? I just thought that the norm with these things?? There was 3 guys including the capt. operating these boards no one seemed alarmed?? It’s something that we have to get use to?? what are you using for line to the boards??

I had my engine in and out so many times I finally bought the alignment tool, a little salty in pricey, but will cover the coupler cost plus having to pull the engine forward enough to get beyond the input shaft. That tool I smear grease on the splines to se if it’s favoring up or down by the amount of grease left in the splines, that will tell you up or down with the front of the motor. It doesn’t take much to start ruining things fast!!
  15. I’ll take them you have a pm
  16. Congrats to both you guys!! I’d give anything to fish just one more time with him!! he taught me a lot the times we fished together. On thing he taught me was to fish way back from the boat. If he got stuck on the bottom or what ever I had to back up and back up and back some more. I said how in the hell much line do you have out?? Finally he has his favorite lure a Rapala perch lure with a diver lip on it. Sometimes when he hooked into a fish and it broke water you couldn’t tell what it was, it was so far back. Now look we try to get as far away with our lures from the boat as possible.. great pics. Guys I really appreciate your stories!! Keep dad fishing!! PAP.
  17. I took a peak at the Auroralite board and the first thing I saw was the front release to the pole is damn near at the top, kinda what the modifications they want you to do on the OffShore boards. I couldn’t get the pic to spin but I be will to bet a dozen donuts that the weight is on the front to make that leading edge bite into the water. Another thing is if your a troller that likes speeds at 1.2 or less I don’t see that board going out 40-50 yards your talking 120 - 150’ it ain’t gonna happen with a single board, and would be a challenge with the big boards. If it’s a slow mph bite I’ll only run two boards per side, maybe two riggers straight back or a Shute rod with a chain bead keel weight. Now pump your speed up to 1.8-9 or my favorite is 2.2-3 now those boards will work to there potential!! Lots to get used to, and it’s hard to get away from what you know works and not get frustrated with the mental lack of the way we think it should be doing. When I switched to inlines I felt the same way, all this money and work for this piece of shyt board that doesn’t “work half as good as my other boards” just food for thought. PAP
  18. Just got 4 from AL, bought 2, two years ago then bought 2 last year and the man was nice enough to grant me 1 free one with a purchase of 3 this year. So I have 8 now and paid for 7. How cool is that plus we BS'd for almost an hour, about what? WALLEYES!!!!!! LOL.
  19. Yea I have to agree with Paul, somthing is not right, I went on walleye charters that run 4 aside!! Mark Romanack would have a stroke if his boards worked that poor, don’t matter what release your using on the board as long as it isn’t slipping, did you try sliding the weight front or back?? If a clown like me can get them out to the side anyone can do it!! One thing I did notice coming from big boards to the offshore yellow boards is it takes some getting used to, you don’t have that banjo tight line going out, but it still tight it also helps if you angle your pole not quite towards the board with just a tad of upscope enough so if a good fish hits it won’t pull the pole out of the holder. With the slower speeds of walleye fishing I had these experiences, but certainly not to the extremes you are talking about. Another thing I thought about it takes a lot more line out once clipped to the board than bigboards, and everything we try to do to keep the big boards strait out or as close to strait out from the boat you can, throw all that out the window!! These boards will lag waaay on behind the boat. That takes some getting use to also.
  20. Awesome looking spoon John, can’t say I have that one, but sure looks impressive, plus it works like a charm. Your post reads like a well seasoned fisherman, just don’t drive out to 20ft of water and throw a hodgepodge of crap overboard and expect a cooler full of fish in a few hrs. Many details if you read the post and reread between the lines. Great job John. Where are you going to be going out of this year, would like our paths to cross if possible!!! PAP. I guess it might be a good think I picked up a nice assortment of copper backs and some with copper showing on the front. Might have to make a few of them. LOL
  21. Nice to get out though Kevin!! Looking forward to your season posts this year. Nice pics.
  22. My brother in law says the introduction of the fishers has driven the turkey population way down in our neck of the woods. I just talked to him yesterday and he was more than annoyed to say the least.
  23. I had to laugh at the last pic also, I bet he was counting browns jumping in the net, instead of sheep over the fence!! .
