  1. Your spot on DJ the case was taken from the .26 cal. nailing gun and they thicken the shell walls and necked it down to 17cal. and you can get up to 25 grain tip, that one going 26 something, but the 20 grainers are smoking at 3000fps. The fastest rim fire on earth, I saw the ballistics but can't remember the statistics but it beats the hottest 22mag all to hell, and wind drift was even better than the 22mag. Where did you purchase the rifle I've been looking high and low for one.
  2. If you decide to go with a troll plate I have the Easy Troller plate, that's the one where the bottom half of the plate swings outward if you forget to release it before taking off, so it doesn't bend it up. I'll make you a hell of a deal, I used it on my mercruiser 350 I/0 it took me from 3mph to 1.8- 2.0, I hade on a 4cly. I/O and I could get down to .08 with it, I decided to go with a kicker just for the sake of another motor should my main motor go down.
  3. Sorry to hear about the tree. How bad is the power outage, and what type of weather are you having, snow, wind, or is it all Ice, either way stay warm and Happy Holidays to all. If anyone else has info on the storm, I realize that if you don't have power you can't report, but if anyone has more info, it would be nice to know what's happening up there, thanks PAP.
  4. I saw on the weather channel over 7 thousand out of power along the NE. coast of lake O. Hope you all are alright and stay warm, and everyone has a generator for power, good luck to all!!!
  5. Not to change the subject, but did anyone hear about the new 17 magnum there coming out with, from what I gather its going to be the 22 hornet case necked down to 17 cal. and also a rim fire, and also a 17 wsm. which is going to be center fire, I saw it on line, was at Cabelas last week and they had no shells, that's really all I wanted to see, oh well time will tell.
  6. Two years ago my brother and I went hunting for coyote's, we had got permission to hunt a golf course which also has a development mixed in amongst the fair ways the owner knows my brother and their was complaints of people seeing these dogs and their pets are going missing, so we set up with my brother on one fair way the caller and decoy between us about a half hour later I see my brother walking over towards me at a fast pace, when he got over to me he was as white as a ghost, I was mad at first, then he explained what happened. He said the coyotes came down from above us, out of the houses and snuck up behind him so close when he turned around to see what it was he said he could see their breath in the air, that was enough for him, and we called it a night, he was shaking like a leaf, now we hunt back to back so someone doesn't get ambushed by a dog. They are so used to humans around here that they don't spook easy, makes it a little easier for us hunters, but you need to be on your toes also.
  7. Hawkeye 625, your spot on and beat me to the post!! Down here in PA. the deer population is next to nothing "where you can hunt" on the mountain we did a road trip after a snow fall, early in the morning and not to my surprise was one set of yote tracks after another. We are seeing in the news paper and on the local TV. channel about coyote attacks on children in developments and dogs with just the head on the chain and cats missing all the time. I got a Fox Pro for Christmas 2 years ago, I just sent it back for some personal updates one call I wanted was a adult cat in distress. I had a young dog come in and sit right down at the decoy like it was going to play with it, the dog batted at the decoy which was a cat but it got bewildered and nervous so I shot it with a shotgun with Dead Coyote load which rolled him up like a carpet, I always use a cover scent, pure skunk cover scent, I use those rubber cloves and dip a Qtip in it and a clothes pin to attach it to a branch, another Item I use and think it really works it's Code Blue for yotes it is a curiosity scent and they tend to let their guard down a little. I think it's a mixture of different coyote scents you spray it on a tree or in the air, I've done this on one's I saw circling down wind I sprayed this into the air and shot that dog with the shotgun also We hunt the outskirts of developments and wooded areas, with the development hunts we always have action, might not call a coyote in every set but it's always interesting when hunting around the developments
  8. I did shoot a deer with a 204, but that's not my all time deer rifle a 35 Whelen is what I use to hunt deer. I just had a opportunity to shoot the 204 on my buddies tree farm and posted the results, if it's good enough to kill a deer then by all means it should work on a coyote, I don't hunt deer with a 204!!
  9. That's why they invented BUCK SHOT!!!! BUT he's right my 35 whelen is a mean machine look up the ballistics, and I hand load every shell with 59 grains of reloader 15 and 200 grain Hornady interlock a mag primer even though it's not a magnum and that' good recipe for a pump action rifle.
  10. Chris I hunt deer with a 35 Whelen, look up the ballistics on that gun!!!
  11. I never knew that they made marine grade/green antifreeze? plus the pink-red stuff is good to 50 below, 70 % anti freeze and 30 % water Prime Time is correct the green protects down to -100 degrees, at $11.89 and the Marine and RV antifreeze is good to 50 below at $2.99 a gallon. Using the green does give one a piece of mind but I can't remember the last time I saw 50 below, and remember it's not going to get rock hard at 50 below also it will jell up. I would say 60 below before the pink gives up. So at $2.99 5 gallons is 15 bucks before the GOV comes into play and the green is $59.00. for 5 gallons, So there the price difference and effectiveness.
  12. I restored a 18ft fiberglass boat about 7 years ago and also replaced the floor & stringers, one of the biggest mistakes I made was, the original seats were those back to back seats and they were built into the floor system, after praying in the Styrofoam I put the floor on the same height as it originally was, I realized that I could not put flush mount seat bases in, if I would of raised the floor 3" up which could of been easily done all I would of needed was to rip a 2x8 in half and screwed it to the stringers, this would of been the ticket, instead I needed to install the dome style seat bases, while not a problem for the driver seat, the other seat I like to put in the middle of the boat near the rear was a issue on the account of stumbling over it, so I opted not to put one in. I used a folding chair for the 3rd person. Just keep in mind what type of seating you will be going with, one doesn't think of this till it's to late. Just food for thought. PAP
  13. I had the same problem, I cover my lower unit with a heavy construction trash bag, I noticed that the bag had a bulge in it so I took it off and red antifreeze was in it, I panicked thinking the worse, after inspecting the situation I realized that when I pumped the antifreeze into the motor I did it in the driveway and now I moved it off the driveway and cranked the front up so the snow and water runs off the tarp I cover her with, the red juice ran out of the motor and out the exhaust. I cranked it up a little more and same thing, so I just left it that way and put my bag back over the outdrive. Just waiting for spring brown season ONLY 4 1/2 months to go. I hope for your sake this is the same issue. Happy Holidays to all and a good new year!! PAP

  15. My buddy Eddie has a 204 and I got to shoot the rifle, sweet rifle but man, does it crack!! I think it's as loud as my 25-06, really!! he has a big Christmas tree farm and the last thing he wants is the bucks rubbing their horns on the little trees, which is what they seem to like the best. They just go down the row of trees and ruin the littler trees, he also has a crop damage permit, so he has to call the game comm. and tell them when he's going so he did and we went on a little ride and I got to try the 204 out on a nice 7 pointer, I aimed for the neck about, range finder said 163 yards so he said hold right on, and that was the end of that buck, fell together right in it's tracks, but my ears were ringing for a wile, man does that gun crack it's a very sharp loud crack, not like a larger cal. were is a dull boom like sound, very different sound, when we skinned the deer off the head was hanging in by a thread no saw required to remove the noggin, I was impressed, the recoil was next to nothing!! I'm in the process of getting my AR223 made into a 22-250, I saw this in a magazine and called the company up and for $595.00 they make a barrel and a clip to fit the 22-250, it can only be semi auto, but that's ok I don't have a need for full auto, matter of fact mine was only semi, it was never fully auto when I bought it, it was not new, and I bought it from a guy that needed the money, I really got a buy and it's registered into my name, I didn't want to buy a stolen gun. Can't wait to get it back, I think then I will have the best of both worlds. I will report back after our first mission for OL' yote dog!!
  16. Now that's dedication!! well done guys.
  17. Great thread guys, I find the way you guys tie your lures to make them perform better interesting I didn't know that, and the colors are a good thing also, thanks for the heads up!!!
  18. Yea Les that's real cool, LOL, at Montage Mountain ski resort they have a big Ice carving competition, they come from all over to participate in this event. It's a true talent to do what these folks do, some of the stuff is amazing and at night it's really neat they put colored lights behind the sculptures and then it looks totally different. Nice looking stuff thanks for sharing PAP.
  19. I have a CVA also and always the first shot, with a clean bore the shot is 6" low, then the next shot 3" low, next shot dead on with the power belts, or any other projectile, so I was told to snap 3 primers off in a cleaned barrel so I tried it on paper first and it's about 1/2" low, so I know I need to fire a round off first before heading off on safari. I shot a lot of deer with the aero Tip power belts, until a gun smith told me about the load I'm using now 209 primer for muzzle loaders the 209 shot gun primers are not a hyped up as muzzle loaders, then 100 grains of triple 7 loose granular stuff and a 44 cal. pistol bullet, I don't remember the grain and I'm to lazy to go downstairs to look but I know they are hollow point, this combo really works swell there is no looking for a blood trail, cause you hit one in the boiler room when the smoke clears just collect your groceries and go home. I hunt deer with a 35Whelen during the rifle season and my smoke pole isn't for behind as far as performance bullet wise, what's nice about both guns is they don't turn everything into jelly, they just plow through meat and bones and usually always exits with about a 3" hole, not hard to find blood with that kind of bullet performance. Our rifle season ended Saturday, I did not shoot a buck, but I shot 2 big doe's this season. Now the day after Christmas our Flintlock season opens, since I have my buck tag still, I can hunt anywhere in PA. and shoot what ever comes. I hade my front stuffer worked on by the same guy that told me about the sabots for the muzzle loader, My flintlock really works sweet since he worked on it, I can walk around all day and my pan powder stays in and he made a special piece for the flash hole it's like drilled out in the back and machined flush on the side of the barrel so basically the 2F powder in the barrel and the 4F powder in the flash pan are only separated a few Thousands just enough so it keeps the pressure in the barrel and it doesn't blow the flash hole open, really works sweet, bottom line is if the flint ignites the pan powder hold the aim point cause the gun is going off, since he did all this it goes off "almost" as fast as a inline. Happy Hunting to all an Happy Holidays to all also!!
  20. I couldn't agree more with Ivan's post about the Perseverance of these guys!! Not only fishing in such unfit temps. but at night also, that take a big set of nads if you ask me, one mistake and it could be your life. I give all those guys a lot of credit just for being out there let alone taking trophy fish and doing all the steps in a short amount of time to make sure the fish is released to fight another day. A very special congrats. to all those that participated in the awesome catch and release of those elusive muskies.
  21. Congrats. on the front loader weapon, that's one hell of a nice buck to end the season!!!!
  22. We are supposed to get up to a foot of snow Saturday & Sunday with 25 miles per hour!!! That should just about cripple this area/
  23. I have a swim platform on my Sea Ray it's a 22ft cuddy and I like the swim platform, I find myself using it more often than not, I stand out on it to net fish, if there is an issue with the out drive you can raise the drive up and at least inspect the problem, I have my kicker mounted on it and my fish box. I think it comes in handy more than not. Just my 2 cents.
  24. I agree with going by the book, but sometimes those that read the book don't reply, so take such matter into perspective and handle it accordingly. Like ray did and anybody else in his shoes, just so happens it's a 1/4 mile drag just for another tag, which the game com. would of took to there dumping grounds anyway, with that sick, starving thing.
  25. TLuck, The man did say he dissected the animal to find a round hard stomach, which means it's starving to death along with it looking like a walking skeleton. Deer will run till they literally fall over, if being pushed. A distinguished hunter, such as Ray certainly can tell the difference between a deer worth consuming and a deer just clinging on to life, which means it's body is actually using it's own flesh to stay alive is not worth taking the chance on consuming it for ones self. Bottom line coyote bait, and if it's that ill, they will step around it also, as they are not stupid either. I once found a road kill and tried using it for yote bait, all they did was walk around it and leave, never touched it and it was a fresh kill.
