I have the exact same motor except it's a 15 horse, what I did for the throttle control is just use the handle twist and under the part that swings up there should be adjustments to make the twist function tighter, so all I did was make it tighter/harder to twist so the throttle wouldn't back off, works for me I also bought a handle extension, as my kicker is mounted at the edge of my swim platform, I also lengthen the pull rope, and cut a slot out of a eye hook which is screwed on to my board that goes across the top of the transom where my riggers are mounted. I turn the eye hook up a little, slip the pull rope in the eyelet and, now my pull rope is where I can easily get to it, 2 pulls and set speed with the kicker and steer off the main motor with E Z Steer. Lets go fishing!!!

I ran across a familiar find this summer and I did some research on the stuff I came across and SK and Long Line where very helpful, but getting back to your stuff. I remember those boxes and the writing on those boxes you have, They are collector Items and the boxes that you have are in excellent condition, a lot of the collectors will buy the whole item at a much better cost than one can imagine, just for the box. I'm 47 years old and don't remember the script on the box maybe some of the other guys could be more specific. I found that looking these vintage lures up and reading about the person who made these lures very interesting to the point that I started to gather all the old lures I had up and putting them in a separate tackle box. Some of the lures I have and most were given to me and a bunch I came across in a garage sale, that the old lady told me "they were my husband's and if they mean that much to you, you can have them" I promised her they will never see water. I would hang on to them if I were you, but that's my opinion and I'm into such stuff. PAP

Sylvan Troller, that's to funny, my twins picked out of a canoe full of fishing lures cheapo's, pink and purple don't figure, and had no rest till I tied them on and I'll be dipped in $hit if they didn't catch fish I was amazed. I use a lot of purple when fishing for walleye but not the salmon and trout, pink caught browns and steel and the purple caught 1 king and a coho. So needless to say I didn't have matching spinners or dodgers. The girls picked out squid baits so I used 1 green spinner and 1 green dodger and they both caught fish, I usually try to match the colors, but maybe mixing it up is the ticket. I'm not the best at the salmon thing so every thing is a learning curve for me as I mainly target walleyes. This year I'm going to put more time in on the trout and salmon since I got a bigger boat and will de able to fish rougher waters, many times I just couldn't get out there with my 18ft center console this year I'll have a 22ft cuddy that is a deep boat and should be able to handle 3 foot waves, anymore than that it's not fun struggling to stand up, and maybe she will surprise me and be able to take on bigger water. Spring will tell.

If we are talking about the lure that opens up with the scent pad, yea, I noticed that the first triple hook looked like it was tucked tight to the lure body and can relate to not a solid hook up. I think I would use a few small beads between the first hook and where the line goes through the body of the lure so the hook is not tight against the bottom. Basically rig it so the first hook dangles a little.

HA-HA, Yea Skipper I know where that is. The reason we chose the motel we did was because he also owns a taxi service and we figured we'd hitch a ride up to the REAL motel because they said they are really tough on ya after a few beers, and I can not go to Canada and not drink a few Molson Ice brews at 5% it doesn't take many and your over the limit. When your in such an atmosphere they flow easy and time flies, 3am already? I guess we thought to hard, and the 4 hrs delay at the border didn't help either

Stripinline, years ago one of my sisters boyfriends, while he was dating her self taught himself the taxidermist trade, his name is Dave Fritz he did a nice buck for me and a pheasant, but this bird was yellow he knew the name for it I forget, anyway this turned into a big thing and the law got wind of this and they said to do any more work he needed to be licensed. Dave got away with it by saying it's a hobby and received no money for his work, so they said he needs to get a license then report back to the game commish. and they will not fine him so he did. Now he lives in Alaska being a full time taxidermist, and well known up there, so you never know what's next in life I say go for it, I know your not a Russian or a black market mobster, only wanting 2 fish to practice on.

Happy Thanksgiving to all from PAP and his family, Since my mother-in-law passed away from Pancreatic cancer 3 years ago, we have Thanksgiving at our house. My wife and I started Tuesday evening with the preparation, I pressure cooked a 8# chicken for the filling. Wednesday I made the pies, apple and pumpkin, by then my wife and kids were home from school, and the girls started peeling the apples for homemade apple sauce and Paula cooked the cranberries for the sauce and I finished the filling, then washed all the pots up and fell asleep on the couch where I woke up this morning, Paula baked the filling because I always deep fry the bird, this year everything came together at the same time for a change!!! all my in-laws came which is 4 people and our family of 4 sat at the table all together, as I have no family members close by and my parents passed away from cancer 5 and 7 years ago. It was my turn to say Grace at the table and so I did, I want to let you know our thoughts were with Kevin and especially Laurie, who's name was mentioned in my say at the Table. We finished our meal which everyone complimented on and clean up. Ready for round 2, the deserts which my sister-in-law made and our apple pie and pumpkin pie all were excellent!! The gals looked at the sales flyers as we were BSing about the opening day of buck season here in PA. Which is Monday, Still bloated from Thanksgiving dinner. Now it's time to get ready for Santa Claus YEEE HAAAA !!!!! Hope everyone enjoyed them selves today as we have a lot to be Thankful for.

Total Chaos, I was looking into these, do you have the lure type that opens up or are you guys talking about the cut bait with the ladder stripes and different colors? Did you ever use the lure type and if so to what extent of success did you have? They look impressive being able to add meat and scent plus a foam strip to hold your favorite scents. Thanks for any response PAP.

New fish finder for fishing finger lakes

Les, I tried everything under the sun. I took the boat to a local lake and the manual sat out on the lake for hours and went through every page and every little nook and cranny in the finder itself and nothing changed, motor running, motor off, sensitivity all the way down-up. I'm in the mist for a new one anyway and I'm leaning towards a Garmin in the 50 series, I need to up date my gps. anyway. -
Thanks guys, yea, I learned a lot from that 4hrs detain at the border. We missed our hotel in Maniwaki, like you said they close don't matter if your late or not, lost our $100.00 deposit for the room, and slept in the parking lot of the motel, we where headed for the Gouin Reservoir, it was like 175 miles of dirt road, excellent fishing, so is O'sullivan, huge lakers

New fish finder for fishing finger lakes

I already have a 700 series, the only complaint I have is no matter where I put the transducer at a troll speed I get clutter on the screen down to about 15 feet. I tried everything possible to cure this problem, moved the ducer so many times I actually bought a big piece of that plastic white in color board and cut it to the shape of the transom so I wouldn't have the back looking like a pin cushion. tried the sensitivity no luck put new zinc buttons on I gave up? Now I transferred the same unit to the boat I'm using now same dame thing- so I live with it, speed up and the clutter goes away. OH I forgot to mention this, I wired a portable unit using the batteries from the boat and mounted the ducer in the same place, clear as a bell, don't figure? maybe the transducer? it was like this from new!! ing A -

BlueGhost1 we will include your family in our Thanksgiving prayers for your family and especially Laurie Dear Jesus, we call upon you and ask your help for Laurie a loved one, who is sick. They are your children and they are in pain. Give them the ability to know in their hearts that you are with them in this difficult time. Give then the strength and healing, comfort them in their fears, smooth their anxiety, let them rest securely in thought of Laurie recovering fully and promptly. Your friend pap.

(the regulators) meaning the law, fish comm, Yea, that's what I mean you need proof of you purchase, like SK8 said. What I used to do is vacpac the fish whole and alive then freeze no water, they are just like a hearty dead minnow, if you add water and freeze they get mushy, lets figure out how to purchase whole smelt and make it legal. If we bought the fish who could we use as a bait store, for a purchase date and time, for a fee do you guys think a bait shop would do this?

Well the other night my 2 uncles came to me and I knew they had something up their sleeves, so they said they are getting up in age and want to go to Canada 1 more time before they can't do it anymore, ok, where do you want to go I asked. They want to go back to lake O'sullivan, I said well you guys know what they put us through before, and you know how I feel about Country after that. They said that was 10 years ago, and now with the pass port thing people are telling them that they lighten up on the fisherman. So I said well I guess I'll go just for your sake. I always set everything up and of course that's what they want again, so I emailed Russell he took over since Ted sold the place years ago, last night Russell called me from Maniwaki Quebec and confirmed our dates and will be sending us the paper work. I guess after 10 years I got softer and actually excited to go, especially after hearing that the lake trout are very under fished and 30#ers are being caught that's on my list to accomplish a big laker. We went to this lake 30 years ago when it was a fly in only lake, and were the first group to drive in, it took 3 hrs. to go 15 miles that's how bad the road was, basically it was a logging path that the log machines used to drag the logs out to the main road, it was an adventure I'll never forget my dad and uncle walked the last 5 miles to guide me over the rocks, and checked out how deep the water holes were, it was cool. That's my story and I didn't know where to put this thread so I stuck it here!!!

The big issues is any dog running deer whether it's your family pet with a collar on or a wild dog, coyote, but there are saying shoot them all and let god sort'em out. I had 2 prize beagles get loose and a man shot my dogs on my property and some say he should of been on a leash, so it sucks to be me.My dog my property so I already know I don't own the land or I shouldn't have to shell $8,000.00 a year in taxes, no I cant let my animals free range my own property during the deer season, so I guess those 2 week I have to put my animal in the house? and let every Tom, Dick and Harry run around on the 25 acres I own, unless I post it. Then I'll get "Well he posts his land and runs all over everyone else's property!!! NO one lost on shooting my dog but ME!! and my DOG which never ran a deer, ever!! The city bastard that he was said they were chasing "his" deer? I said to him I've been hunting for 35 years and I never saw a deer run past me with your name one it, never!!

This is a cool thread, To see these older model boats still in action, nice vintage vessels Guys & Gals!!! I went up to Alexandria bay a few years back to see a vintage boat show, most were all wooden, man they looked impressive and sounded sweet also. The wood on some of those boats come from all over the world, I talked to this one guy and he said the wood was shipped from Africa, some type of mahogany it had like a reddish color to it in the sun but the shaded areas were real brown. I can't even imagine the amount of time and cost to make that wood that beautiful!!!! That's out of my league I'll stick to my old 82 Sea Ray Cuddy

I Have a buddy that is, well did put up a sporting good store here in PA. and he claims to make it the Fat Nancy's of the Poconos, he also has a place in the Mexico area up north and he claims they go to some lake in Vermont way back in the boondox and they ice fish for smelt. He claims they catch them by the 5 gallon buckets full, they eat them? he says they are sweet tasting you just gut them cut off the heads fry them and eat them bones and all I told him to bring me a half a bucket home. Freeze them solid in the bucket and bring them home, but I got to thinking I can't do that because I won't have a yellow ticket to go with my bait. They didn't go yet so I have time to tell Ted forget about it. When you guys buy herring and smelt what do you use for a ticket that says they are disease free? Thanks for any suggestions
