All this information is absolutely wonderful, that so many folks take an interest in the lake and it's ability to keep producing some outstanding walleye catches. With all this info I read about the 50 day fingerling being stocked at the numbers of 44000 what concerns me is how long does it take to grow to the legal lengths to be harvested? do they grow several inches like they do in Erie. I also read where they tried a pen rearing project but it failed due to starvation, if they can be successful with the salmon why can't that be a possibility for Otisco, I realize it takes a lot to do this and to feed these fish, I certainly can't put names down to try this but I think there would be enough people willing to donate there time to make this a successful Idea, I for one would be willing to help with such an idea. That way you would be releasing 6-8 inch fish instead of inch and a half fish, perfect for the browns, tigers smallies and what ever other predator fish swims in the lake. I might be all wet with this idea but it sure works with the kings in lake Ontario. What are your thoughts ? Of course if they grow like weeds then there is no need for any of this.

10-6 otisco Tracys first tiger casting
Xxx replied to justtracytrolling's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
That's a heavy walleye, if I wouldn't know better I thought you might have hooked up with my buddy Lonie, and were in our honey hole off Stoney point that is the size brutes that place produces, MAY many more come to your net, one must note that the walleye have the feed bag on which would be nice if it lasts another 2-3weeks and if we can find a place to put ONE WORM in the drink we would be able to last 3 days with the amount of food that's stocked in her now -
This sand bar jets out 100 yards off shore and who would think anyone would be wading chest deep in the water at 1am. In the state of PA. anyone wading in water after dusk must have a lighted device on their chest or head and a lantern on shore were they entered the water, this guy had nothing, so I was totally in the right and he was in the wrong, he also received paper work from the fish comm. who lives on the lake to go along with his wounds. I also have a v8 for a power plant so it's not like he didn't hear us coming.

Nice going 315angler, 1 is a start, remember what lure you used and what kind of retrieval you used, don't be afraid to move, usually they are school fish, if you catch one and nothing after a while move, from my experience don't waist time waiting for the fish to come to you. Cover ground and another thing to remember is, and this holds true for any body of water. 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water.

Like one mentioned Seneca is a huge body of water but a lot of it is very difficult to fish, I can understand why the guys are tight lipped about the perch, especially when one fellow mentioned that a boat sat right in front of his house and filled 3 100qt coolers full of fish, that's mucho perch, that has to put a hurting on the perch population. The other thing is one who puts countless hours in figuring these fishes routine, feeding habits, size baits at certain times of the year and their migration patterns ect. ect. should be rewarded with a nice catch of fish. One other post on the walleye forum one mentioned he burned $700.00 in fuel that one week to figure these fish out. I used to get pi$$ed off to but now I understand why it is the way it is. I figured that these guys live on the lake and have the time to do the research and us guys that live hours away and only get to fish a few times, and this sites (claim to fame is to help each other out) but why won't they help me I only want to catch a fish. So if someone tells you were to go, he's afraid you will tell a friend and then the snow ball effect come into play. It's not that there being pricks at all, they are only trying to protect the fishery from those who will abuse it. One thing to keep in mind as a fisherman, and this holds true to any body of water is 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water, if you keep that in mind you will figure out the fish a lot quicker.

"One time trolling at night" One night my uncle and I went on Beltzville trolling for walleye, we were doing well flat lining off the sides so we decided to put out the boards and run 2 lines off each side and 2 off the rod holders. Since I have a starter & alt business I built a alternator that you could weld with, so my boat is well lit up at night with floods out the front and out the sides. we wanted to hit a sand flat that the walleyes come on to at night to feed, but to shallow to run through so that's where the board idea came to mind. We made a pass and managed to boat a nice eye so we went up the lake made the turn and came back through right on the same gps route when all of a sudden we heard screaming like someone was being killed we stopped immediately only to notice our board was gone. Here we managed to hook a man that waded out on the bar, with no light on him or a lantern on land. We cut all our lines and got the guy in the boat, The man insisted he call the fish commission, he thought we were in the wrong, meanwhile we took the lures out of his boots and skin, and fixed him up as good as we could with the first aid kit. We ended our night of fishing and headed to the dock where the long arm of the law was when we got there. Long story short the man was ticketed for not having a light on his hat, no lantern on land and not saying anything to us as he admitted that he was there when we made our first pass, my boat passed the night lights with flying colors, and the fact that we pulled him aboard and tried to help him the fish and boat comm. along with the state police said we did everything possible to help this guy, yet he calls the law aboard my boat, the trooper said we were good people, most guys would of thrown him over board. So if you fish at night with other boats an the water PLEASE make sure you are well marked. You will never know when I might be coming around the bend with my spread out 6 lures with 3 triple hooks could make for a painful evening!! That's PA. laws I will have to read what's legal or not in NY.

Well I got my email to Precision trolling returned with some info that may or may not interest some of you guys. Earlier in the season there was some talk about where to find (buy) the trolling bible, they quit publishing the books and now they are sought after by lots of guys, some shared the pages with others, some did what ever. Any way precision trolling put together an APP that so far is for apple devices only and he emailed the prices with what each app covers there are 3 different apps. The first one is you can purchase the lures that you use the most for $2.00 a piece 2nd is $50.00 for 120 lures and up grades every year additional cost $10.00-$20.00 with new lures and line added each year. Or purchase lifetime for $100.00 which includes lifetime updates and new lures for free for ever. He also mentioned that there are lures that haven't hit the consumer market yet that will change the way we fish for walleye forever, what ever that means, also he mentioned the skipped lures that weren't in the book will be in the app. The price is what everyone is upset with and they are looking into what they can do about it, since apple is the only one that was interested, they might be under the thumb of Apple. Just some info I thought I would share with you, I'm sure that many already know about it. I'm going to give it some time and make a decision towards spring. I do a lot of trolling of the boards so maybe this will benefit me, knowing what depth my lures are at, especially in the spring after the walleyes before they hit the deep waters.

Yea that's what I got, but where I saw the link, that takes you directly to the Precision Trolling app with out having to go through all the steps it skips some of the wording ending up with what you got also.

Don't put car tires on please!! Even if you have a tandem axel, my cheap a$$ uncle did that, and 3 years ago coming home from the Black River Camp Grounds, I was towing and this thing was all over the place. I asked him if he checked the air pressure and he said it was right on, I said this thing tows like $hit, never used to be like this, he said I bought car tires because of the tandem axel he said the tire guy said there is no need to purchase the higher priced trailer tires, OK then, down the road we go(knowing in my mind that we are never going to make it home, just by watching the tires perform in the mirror) 65mph we travel with no problems, start seeing signs for Syracuse and 100 yards before the first exit I hear a loud bang and then smoke pouring out the back of the trailer, OF course on the left side, traffic side, so I pull off RT81 as far as possible and sure as $hit the back tire shredded to pieces. Ripped the brake lines off and wrapped around the hub and axel so tight and being steel belted radials you couldn't grab a hold of it, get a pair of gloves and a hack saw I was able to get the tire to spin, so we could get off the highway, to a little parking lot got the tire off and went to put on the spare, the wheel wasn't the same pattern as the hub. Luckly I had jack stands with and we jacked the boat up and put it on jack stands(4) took all 4 wheels off and headed home. Next day he went and bought 4 Trailer tire and back up we go, bolt them on and no swaying and still have the same tires on today!! So you do what you want, I've got a tandem axel trailer and I put the best tire I could on, this is no place to be cheap!!

Well that didn't work either so here is what to do click on the link then a page will come up, click on "forum" then click on (walleye discussion) and scroll down to(Precision trolling testing never gets old) and click on that and FINALLY you are there, I don't under stand why it splits the link up when I post it. I went back to edit it and then the link is altogether but when I post it well, you see what you get, anyway follow those steps and you'll get there. not so tech savy PAP.

I don't know why when I post the thred it splits the link up, so I'm hoping this will keep it together so all you have to do is click on it http//www.thenextbite.tv/Precision Trolling

There will be 3 different versions of the app to choose from here is the web link see what you guys think I'm going with the $99.99 version. I thought I would pass this along http://www.thenextbite.tv/Precision Trolling

Back in the late 70's early 80's we fished a lake called O'sullivan in Quebec and it was a strictly fly in only lake and lodge, it was owned and operated buy a man named Ted Barklow. He was an American and all his help was native French and native Indians, I forget the tribal name, anyway it was 18 hours north of the US. border and 45minute float plane ride. We set up camp and went fishing what a trip of a life time, anyway back to the blue pike & walleye we caught blue walleye and brought them in and the native Indians went bananas we didn't know what the hell to make of all this and soon Ted came over to us and made us put the blue walleye's back. Later that night Ted came over to our cabin and explained that the blue walleye is some type of spiritual fish to the Indians and they don't want them harvested. He said that this lake was one of the few lakes that had the (true blood blue walleye) in it and that they are rare to catch in this lake. He wanted to know where we caught them, & how we caught them so he could restrict that area to NO FISH ZONE- he told us that they were next to extinct up here and they were trying to keep the blue walleye going by not taking any, We fished that lake for 20 years, every year 2nd week of June we had our trip booked. Then Ted retired back to the states and someone else took over, and the last 15years you could drive there via logging companies made roads, and people could bring there own boats with bigger motors and could get to many places in a day. When we first started to go there were wooden 14ft boats with 9.9 motors, you had to know where you were going for the night bite, because the lake was to big and with 9.9 motors you couldn't get to one end of the lake and back in one day. The last time we were up there,2002 there was still supposedly blue walleye in the lake.

I'm glad it panned out for you, I'm self employed for over30 years now in the starter & alt. business and came across this a lot, I used to just clean them up Including the armature and put a new com end bushing in and charge the guys $20.00 and they were tickled pink, being a boat owner myself I know how expensive thing can get and the way others take advantage of you just is wrong. BOAT= (Break Out Another Thousand)

We did that on Dave's boat now the trim works "same problem" but finds it hard to feed gas with one hand and steer with the other, now what do you use to run trim switch he says it should be on the floor so he can use a foot to operate the trim, I thought maybe a dimmer switch for the up when getting on plane once at run speed then you have a hand free again to operate trim switch.
-
Probably the brushes are hung up in the holder from condensation over the years, especially since you mentioned it's not up to speed, or the brushes are gone, 2 other possibilities are bad armature or com end bushing is bad. If you hit on it with a hammer then you will need a new one, because the fields are magnets which shatter when you hit on the motor part of the trim unit.

Justin don't let a hand full of goons discourage you from posting about the walleye, all summer long it's all about salmon with a occasionally less than informative post about a walleye catch. What about all the salmon killed for prize money? then fed to the local zoo animals, That's OK! you purchased a license to fish and only creel the daily limit which is 3 per. person on that lake, also utilizing the meat to feed your family not the "zoo" If those folks who wish to catch and release should see your governor Cuomo and ask to come up with a conservation license, I'm sure he would be all for it as it would be another source of income for the state and you could satisfy yourself and the pocket dipper government already in place along with the boating certificate. Soon we all can sit on the couch and play video games, because that's the only thing we will be able to afford!

Now that's what I'm talking about, way to go Justin congrats to you and the family, If I wouldn't know better I would of assumed you snuck out to Erie HAA-HAA, now the work begins and with those monsters you'll have nice scallops to eat along with some mammoth sized fillets. Way to go, By the way your killing me here all I can do is wish I could jump off the couch and hook 1 WORM up and head to Ostico. They will be there in the spring, then I will come visit you on Osico and make a week of it. Leave some for me LOL Excellent Job JT. I'm so happy for you just seeing those fish, can't imagine actually being there cranking those whales in!!! keep us posted!!

Replacing wing nuts with Nuts & Washers for battery termianls
Xxx replied to waterlogged's topic in This Old Boat
The way I attach my wire ends is a flat stainless steel washer first (clean terminals first with wire brush till they shine then smear up with dielectric grease) put all the + or - terminals on than a flat stainless steel washer and a self locking nut preferably the nylon type as this type wont rip the threads off the post when you go to remove the nut to add or replace wires. Then apply a thin coat of dielectric grease to the whole cluster repeat for other side and put lid on battery box. done deal. I also use the same terminal ends on all the wires except the + and - wire as they are much heaver that way if needed I might have to rind a flat side on washer so it smashes all the terminal wire loops and not the plastic insulation whether it be yellow, red, blue I use all yellow and solder the terminals even if the squeeze tight, that way I usually don't have to grind a flat side on washer so it bypasses the insulation on term. ends. END of problem, never was a fan of the wing nut idea. ALSO put main battery wire on first!! then the rest of the wires.
