Dick's right with checking other things out, my case was I had real bad outer edge wear, I was told bent axle, this & that, so we started measuring around and found that the axle was an 11/2 inches across the corner. Turned out my uncle who also has a lot of trailer experience found the problem turned out the bushings in the springs dry rotted and fell out. 4 new bushings and the same tires are on 3 years later.

Walleye and White tails is what I call Mountain Mans surf & turf, which in my opinion is better than going to Red Lobster. I personally like the 2 strips that are located on the inside of the back bone, we always called them the chicken strips with fresh walleye, some people go through life with out ever eating the best meats god has put on planet earth

We've been talking about it for years. Then a real bad experience at the Canadian border, we said lets keep our money in the states and tried the western basin in the spring, What a trip of a life time. If you never fished Erie for walleye do yourself a favor and try it you will ask yourself why didn't I do this sooner. 30-40 fish a day 3.5# to 6# are common with the 8.5-10# possible. Been out 5 years now. I would like to try the eastern end of Erie, which I'm working on now, hope it pans out!!!

Nice bunch of birds, I was wondering what do you do with the meat, I tried many different ways to eat it with not to much success. Finally a guy told me to grind it up and make slim jims, like you would with deer, so I tried it and it turned out really good. My daughters liked it, they are always after me to make jerky, so maybe next time I get one I'll try to make jerky out of it. I personally don't hunt for them, but my brother-in-law hunts for them and they do quite well, it's easy to drop them off at my house and in a week or two pick up your goods, but I enjoy it.

I live about 1.5hrs from the Hamburg Cabelas!! They don't have all the lake Ontario goods, such as the spoons and flashers that are used up there, the run of the mill stuff they have such as rods, reels, line ect. There is a place opening up in Brodheadsville that's supposed to be the salmon store of the Poconos it's supposed to be the Fat Nancy's of the Pocono's. Time will tell, I was in there for the grand opening and they have a long way to go yet!!. If they do what they claim and the prices are good I will let you guys know, they want to handle Torpedo and other brand names in line such as Flea flicker and releases such as Blacks, Chamberlin and all sorts of spoons and flies, I'll let you know if it is anything. Wanted - Lowrance X-85 fish finder
Xxx replied to Cack63's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
If you have a depth probe and a good gps. with a very detailed map chip, then why is so important to have a top of the line fish finder. As long as it has 4000 watts of power and a 50/200 transducer, I know people like color these days, but you can buy a very powerful grey scale with 480/480 pixel screen Humming bird in the $425.00 range and if you don't have a probe, which in my opinion is more important than a high end finder you'd have a nice amount to put towards a probe. Maybe I'm all wet with my theory? -

It's also a method that the Linder boys showed in a lot of their programs, and it's used a lot on smaller boats (14-16ft) aluminum boats with 9-15hp, so throwing a trolling bag out would with one spin you around in circles and just about flip you over and with 2 to straiten things out would stall you. Even with the smallest bags, so back troll into the current on a river works very well. I had a 18ft. center console with 2 live wells in the back, Dad and I would fill the live wells and back troll the black for walleyes, DYNOMITE!!!!!

What about all the derbies a year, every year there seem to be more, I understand that they generate money for great causes, but it seemed every weekend there were derbies somewhere. I'm buy no means saying STOP the derbies, and don't even have enough knowledge about them, as I never fished on or even spectated one. I'm just curious as to how many fish fall victim to all the pro's out there, who can really lay the smack down on them? or is that just a pee in the bucket as to what the real problem is.

2013-2014 season License price heads up....
Xxx replied to ERABBIT's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Thanks ERABBIT, as I opened up the post and read it, I was just about to come unglued!! Who's complaining? all I said is "it hurt" just like the price of gas, we all still drive around. $70 buys a good steak dinner or a gallon of maple syrup, or a dealerships oil change..... or....a whole year's worth of fishing.... sounds fairly cheap if you look at it that way. PA. non-res. $63.00 (?) but some folks thought differently non-res fishing season 40,122=$2,808,540...non-res.7-day 48,413=$726,195...which they claim is down from previous years and lowering the price would be an act to try to boost the economy. Another great source of income is the salmon river which generated $3million in 90 days mostly by out of staters. When you have $500.00 in fishing gear to catch a half dead fish what's another $70 to be legal and go about your business and have fun. My dad once told me ANY word ending in "ING" is going to cost you $$$$$. -

Hey, that's great us out of "staters" get a break, it hurt when it went to $70.00. That's another 5 gallons of gas. One more trip out to Stony!! -

I think you should come out of your brain freeze icehut and warm up a little,I have a 30 year old 22ft boat that has power assist steering that is as tight as the day it was made, with only 440hrs on it how could it possibly have any play in it. If you ever get the chance to drive a boat that doesn't have a million miles in reverse on it you might think differently.

I second that, lineman49 their isn't much to say about the Ejunk 7 all the hype about how Lowrance was going to have a fish finder gps that would be affordable to the weekend fisherman was exactly that HYPE, if you can find one person that can honestly say "I never had any problem with mine I'd like to meet you". Tim turned me on to Garmin and from what I read they got it going on, and the price is with in reason. JMO.

Well said SK, When I used to complain, "Dad there aint no fish here, if there is they got lock jaw", that's when he told me, "If we catch fish all the time every time it would be called catching not fishing" -

Was thinking about hitting the Dunkirk area after we close up for the year at the Black River, trailer over to Dunkirk for a week then home for the winter. Was wondering if you guys know of a place to stay, not really a hotel/motel type of guy. A house or cottage is what I like, will settle for motel, if nothing else is available thanks, PAP.
