Out of all the fishing posts that I've read over the years this one really hit the heart. First of all not that many people would take the time to take a child or young man that is not as privileged as some, and to make his day with a fish big enough for the wall is just outstanding, on both ends of the stick, this day will be in that young mans head forever, it's something he will talk about till the end of time. When I hear stories like this it reminds me of the time we took a little Amish boy fishing, for 2 days he stood on the dock and watched us go out and he would wave and he would be there when we got back, so the one night we asked if he'd like to go with us (he only spoke PA. Dutch) which my father spoke also, so dad told him to ask his parents if it would be ok, and later that night his father came over to us and in Dutch asked dad all kinds of questions and then said ok, so at 5.30 he was at the boat waiting and that day we assaulted the walleyes, the kid was just speechless the whole day and on top of it all we gave all the fish to him, his family couldn't thank us enough!!! The mother of the family wanted our address she said the boy wanted to stay in touch, which we thought was nice, 2 months later we got a notice in the mail box item to large for box, need to go to the post office, so dad and I went to the post office wondering what the hell did we do now, in this huge box was a letter from the Amish boy thanking dad and I for the fishing trip of a life time and in the box was 2 king size quilts for our beds, mine was made with hankercheif squares red, blue and white and it looks like the American flag and dads was made out of carhartt material brown, blue, white black they were absolutely amazing!!! I still have mine on our bed to this day. You and your son are outstanding people to do such a special thing, and maybe he will take up fishing instead of all the other crap the younger generation gets into. Thank you for the great story and trophy size fish for the young lad. PAP

I didn't catch it at first, but after the replay I saw him throw it toward the cup holder, oops over board it goes, than I laughed like hell, because I've done such dumb stuff also, like make a whole rig up in a hurry to get back at it throw it over board and never hook it to the main line of the pole, the OL slap to the forehead and start all over. We always did good trolling from Chaumont bay towards the north shore of Galoo, we always managed a 5 or 6 fish on that troll there are holes and humps on that troll, every time we come off a hump if there were any hooks we would connect with an eye, Hopefully towing boat up this weekend so will post our results as that is our first trip of the day and that puts us near the trench and if that don't produce it's off to the cliffs, see what happens

That date is good for me, so lets come up with a meeting place & time and I'll be there. This will be really cool to be able to put faces and names with our member titles, lets make this a good event and maybe we could meet on other lake in the future, PAP.

I know how you guys feel, I've been fishing lakeO since the 80's but I always had 18ft boats that were easy to tow and load and I always fished for walleye and bass, since the early 2000's I got hooked on trolling for eyes and then I got turned on to the silver fish. I have a camper in the Black River camp ground and so I trailer over to Henderson and fish the trench and Stoney Point and the north side of Galoo, But I always had to pick and choose my days due to the wind and waves any more then 2-3 footers I was done with my boat. So I made a decision to go bigger and bought a 22ft Sea Ray cuddy I had to put a lot of work into it but that's the only way I could afford a boat of that size, so 2 years later I finally got it all together and made a shake down run on a lake near home and all went well, so now all I have to do is put the canopy on and head north. It's been 2 years since I've been on lakeO and with a boat that seems huge to me it's going to be interesting for the first couple of hours till I get the hang of everything, so see what happens. You guys will be OK and so will I just be a little nervous, but I'm sure we will catch fish and have a good time, then all our hard work will be behind us and fish ON from there. PAP

Besides having great posts and awesome pictures of walleye weighing in at 9# I never saw fat like that in walleyes, JT's posts bring people out of the wood work to post also, I've noticed people who belong to LOU for years with very low post #s so that tells me those folks are walleye folks also and we all know how discreet we can be about an area we found a pod of fish, I'm just a guilty as the next in that aspect, take a look back and you will see what I'm talking about, I think that's pretty cool, just to get others attention all you need is a good walleye report!! PAP.

Mountain mans surf & turf my kind of living, I was just busting you about the freezer!! catch all you can as they are the best eating fish there is I'm not much of a fish eater but I can hammer down those walleye. I also don't have much mountain beef left and the kids are after me to make a batch of jerky, they would live on that if they could!! I do have some blacks and some other type of releases, I will give them a shot this trip up to lakeO I'm making a shake down run on a lake nearby maybe I'll attach the blacks releases and get a grip on them before I come up. Tight lines to you and those Ostico walleye PAP.

Jtrolling, looks like you got those walleye dialed in, you might want to watch the sears flyers to see when the freezers go on sale!! keep up the good work and posts, I always look forward to read your post you are a walleye guy just like me so I find your post very interesting although you are fishing Ostico I wish you were on lakeO Either way good job, also how do you like your new releases? I have the old pinch pad type but also have other types just never used them as I was new to the rigger fishing and at the time seemed to complex but I'm going to us them this next trip, can't wait to get up there week or two yet. PAP.

Thanks for all the info. I will be coming up in a week or two, I will purchase every thing I need locally, (NY). down here all that stuff is a deer in the headlight look.

Where can you purchase the 19 strand wire and the from what I read you will need a twilly tip where can you purchase those also. Next can you use a line counter reel? and what size reel do you recommend, thanks PAP I think that's all I'll need to complete my arsenal. I purchased 30# sea flea from blood run for my rigger rods and I have 2 28# lead cores ready to go so that will give me 6 rods in the water, most of the time I only have 1 guy with me, if I add a slider or 2 I'll have my hands full, I've been out of the link for 2 years for various reasons mainly motor issues which are resolved now. Cant wait to hit the water!! PAP.

I don't use the OE cannon plugs either, what I used is minkota trolling motor plugs male & female bought them at the bargain barn at Cabelas, and used 10 gage wire with 15 amp breakers and never had a problem with anything and the male end of the troll motor plug has a nice fitting rubber plug to use when not using the riggers.

Walleye LOU-ALL I would be interested, I'm in the process in bringing my boat up in a week or two, I finally got it all together 2 years in the making what a better way to break her in with all us walleye guys together, even if I don't have boat I would make the run up just for the first get together, hand shakes and a beer sounds good enough for me, so count me in. Come up with a date & time if I'm not up there it's a 4.5 hour drive for me, but I can stay at our camp in the Black River Camp Grounds, which I would trailer down from if we are going to fish a little!!! Thanks PAP.

I just purchased 2 of the 330 spools directly from Blood Run and had it in 3 days, I live in PA.

If you hooked up jumper cables, and nothing changed as far as the starter, then the starter is bad, either the armature is bad or the magnets are loose from the case causing the starter to drag resulting in a slow turning starter. Take it off and take it to a local rebuilder, if he can't fix it he should be able to get you a GOOD after market unit for half the price of the dealer, hopes this helps. F&F Starter & Alt. top 5 bfuller spoon colors
Xxx replied to tlombardozzi's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Where can I purchase these spoons since I don't live near the lakes? Does he have a web. site or a way to mail order from BOB. Would like to get some of his spoons but no luck on that, if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks PAP. -
Sitting on the outside looking inside I can see both players at fault here, your sons feels the dude in the boat was there for a reason probably, and you a very well mannered human being just should have known better, and $hit happens, I commend you for manning up to this situation, most people would have tried something else especially if the moderator didn't know the situation But for your sons sake he's thinking what the hell is this guy even doing on our boat if he didn't say something right away about 2 many rods on the water, it was his time and effort.and mostly his pride stripped away be cause of human error. Sorry to hear about the mistake you will(and your son) will never forget again. PAP. .

Us walleye guys get it, not every day or night will produce, perseverance will prevail. The walleye gods are looking down on us, soon it will be the turn of the seasons then it's game on for us, keep us posted on that lake, may want to hit it on the return trip from lake O after the Black River camp grounds close up for the season, which seems to be earlier every year?

I reread your post and from what I gather, it won't turn over? it could be the aux. solenoid and all boats have one, first we need to locate it, if it's an outboard it's mounted on the engine itself and if it's an I/O it's mounted somewhere near the starter it should be black with 3 or 4 terminals on it 2 larger ones where power from the battery goes, YOU will need a test light, if you don't have one any auto parts store has them get one in the $10.00 to $15.00 one you don't need the top of the line one for this, take the alligator end an put it on a good ground, the engine block bolt or any place that isn't real rusty then put the light end on the top post you should have a bright light telling you that your ground is good and you have power there, than have someone turn the key to the start position and find the smaller wire on the solenoid should be any other color than black, black usually is a ground wire if it's a 4 terminal solenoid that should light up when key is in the start position, then while keeping the key in the start position move the light to the other bigger terminal and that should light up, to double check your self with the key in the start position you should have light (power) on the top bigger post the smaller terminal and the other larger post if you don't have power on the lower stud then the aux solenoid is bad and needs to be replaced, to check if the solenoid is grounded, put the alligator clip on the ground wire on the aux. sol. and touch the light end to the upper stud the has battery power and the light should light up, if it doesn't then you don't have a ground to the aux. sol. this could be a problem also, so might have to remedy that if that is an issue. If all that passes than it's off to the starter, you will need about 2ft of 10-12 gage wire with a alligator clip on one end and the other end you don't need anything, take the ,alligator clip end and clip it to the start side of the starter solenoid if it's a GM. style starter it will be on the right side of the starter looking at it from the back of the starter, and touch the other end to the power side of the solenoid, this can be done from the top post of the starter, first make sure that there is power at the top post on the starter, if not go to the aux. sol. for power if it doesn't do anything it might be the starter, providing all checks out with the aux. sol. 9 times out of 10 it's the aux sol. or a bad ground. Hope this helps you out. if you can't get it figured out PM. me and I will give you my cell # and I will try to walk you through it. Suck when nobody will help when you pay good money to store your boat there and they won't help you out. I know where you are and tried to deal with that guy, he's tough to deal with. PAP
