I like the Scotty’s for the simple reason they have a much bigger hole you can slip them over the anker device from the rigger cable. You don’t need to disassemble the terminal device. “Most of the time” best of luck.
I’ll second the Blood Run 30# Sea Flee on the riggers and I’ll run like 15-20ft Fluor leaders or such. For dipsys I’m changing my game, I had the mono under the braid, I ran 30#PP the last few years. The PP will be backer and I’m going to run something other than braid, I had enough of release slipping, rippling the release th hell ect. It’s nearly impossible not to have some sort of a failure with braid in use with anything other than running dipsys and flat lining. IMO?? So that’s something to think about also. I might add this is in walleye setups, I rarely fish kings, but all in all a set up is a set up no matter what’s going to bite on the business end.
Thats a move in the right direction!! The Black River used to be 15" from the second island up to and above the dam in Dexter. Now i thought Ny was 18" state wide?? For walleyes.
Could it be possible that I bought a motor that they don’t make a unit for, I purchased a 2004 Merc. 15hp 4 stroke, it appears they don’t make a unit for that year from in the 90’s to 2000 then from 2005 till but 4 years no units made for the Mercs. My friggen luck. unless I’m missing something??
Nice!!!!, man you guys are putting the itch in my azz also. Nice pics!! Like stated above a fish is a fish, I’d rather catch 17 fish in 3 hrs instead of one wale!!! .in 3 hrs.
That sucks if you commit, it should be irreversible that would keep those Naysayers from backing out while another guy who really wants the stuff with money in hand doesn’t get it either thinking it’s gone!! That burns my ass!!! Ok I feel better now.
All said and done everyone hunts in different situations, what might be thick to some might be nothing to another, in our neck of the woods you hunt where the deer are, identifying good shot placement and of course the target first should be upmost important!! We don’t have much standing timber trees, these scrub oaks that we hunt if your a chaser don’t even take your gun. Let the standers do their job. There are reasons why the deer are in these thick pieces, 1 there’s millions of acorns and concealment, most of our guys me included are on much higher grounds or in stands so identifying your target is easy if you were eye to eye there’s no way you can make out what your seeing or hearing. These guns are called brush guns for a reason, yes we have guys who shoot deer with the 30/06 nothing less on these hunts which we usually wait till the second week of the season to hunt this area. They put Dave with his 45/70 in one spot, and me in another spot, 35 Whelen shooting a 200gr Hornedy pills, Billy with a 444 lever action which is what all the guys have except me mine’s a pump, we knock some critters together with our big bore rifles. I couldn’t agree more with your concerns but our method has been this way since my grandfathers days. If any part of this was to cause concerns with safety I’d be the first to say there ain’t no deer worth someone’s well being!! That’s where I draw the line. Hunting season is over!! Let’s fish
Thanks for the info, I guess if your not in the game like you are they are changing stuff all the time!! Best of luck to you guys, I’ll keep my vintage year stuff. Back to the original part of this post
Well there's not much more I can say that hasnt been already said. Father and son times are priceless without a fish of a lifetime. Especially when its a joint effort to bring this monster to the net and in the net!!. My story is very close to yours but mine got away. It still comes up in conversation, but dads not with me anymore. You will have many years to share your story with others. Congrats to you guys and that mount is a stunning piece of art for sure!!!
Absolutely, guys and gals!! This is the most exciting thing I read about in years!! I wish all involved a very impressive out come!! Finally something other than silver fish related is happening
Mine rusted out on the bottom, good luck the scrap iron guys got all of those, finally I bumped in to a demo guy who runs demolition derby’s and I got one off a old 283 motor that had the right height where the carb sits on, what’s wrong with yours??
Can he run 3 more rods my beagle goes with on the boat, at the local lakes. I haven’t had to take him to NY but if I had to he’d go along. He’s great company, never argues which lures to run, although he didn’t like the depth I was running and lifted my rigger up )25’ LOL
Yeah that’s awesome boat and fish working together as the first trip of the season!!! Nice . I can feel it spring should get here around the 4th of July
Nothing like back straps cooking in oil and 1/2 can of beer and a whole onion sliced so you get nice size rings!! Now my friend your eating like a King!!
You have good boards that pull hard they’ll be mid ship, if they don’t pull hard that’s when you run into trouble. I have a 22cuddy and I thought I had to have them as high as possible and as front as possibly. I put a mast on the both sides and built my own boards, and those boards are just about straight out. Rod tree mounted right by arch and they work sweet. My boat sits high on the water that makes a big difference!!!
My uncle having a 45/70 for 30-40 years has killed more deer in the scrub oaks we hunt up on the mountain then anyone else I know, I shot 3 times at a nice buck down at the valley of hypsy valley and it never even twitched it’s ears, Dave came over to see how many I had laying yea right I said so he took the shot. Bingo is down 1 shot, my 300 H&H wouldn’t go threw that red brush. Second it doesn’t make for red jelly either when Dave shoot one no matter where the bullet hits, not like the 300’s and 7mm mags even that souped up 243. Someone stole his gun right out of his truck parked in his driveway with a dusk to dawn light right above his truck.
