  1. Thanks I’ll look that up!!
  2. I have a question, I bought a night vision scope, gen1 I never got it mounted and the ir iluminator quit, I tried all different things to see if it would come on to no avail. So I see wicked lights makes an ir illuminator. Would this make the night vision scope much better! The scope has just a little one mounted on top the scope. I know it’s old but it did work. Or should I just pension the scope. What are your thought of putting a much better ir light on it or will it white wash the scope. Thanks for any input. Kinda bummed out!!
  3. Well my wicked lights came yesterday and I couldn't be happier. Using the light and batteries right out of the box was amazing. Now I have to mount the gun light, and adjust the light to the cross hairs. Last 2 nights were perfect, no wind dead calm. Well hopefully it will give a few more before this damn snow. Here's a few pics of what I got. Sent from my LG-M327 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. As you can see these are the plans I used to make mine, you can see the compound miter on the leading edge. I’d get my boards out for you to see but there tucked away in the cuddy. This helps cut through the waves with a lot more ease, I get what your saying about the off shore boards and the other manufacturers out there and this is the reason we modify and make our own.
  5. That’s exactly why I didn’t paint or seal my boards. Mine do the same thing for about just say 1/2hr till they soak up some water then you notice they start working better and better!! I also used cedar. I bought a 8’ piece of cedar toung and grove board, made them so the toung side down as a rudder and cut the groove off they are 6”s in hight. I don’t know if the toung really acts as a rudder but it was a thought mine pull like hell!!!
  6. Sweet, damn you guys that have O/B anyway thanks for the first of the 2018 season, those browns you have in those pics and nice in anyone’s book!!
  7. Hey that’s one hell of a smart idea Les!! Never even gave that a thought. I guess if you have a head on your shoulders and don’t use it, you might as well have an ass on both ends.
  8. Did you cut a compound angle on the front of each board? So the front cuts through the water or are your boards blunt cut on the angle. Another words do your boards have a sharp edge? If so thats all you'll need. Sent from my LG-M327 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  10. To eliminate the problem with the above poster, or anyone else that said they fight the board not the fish, make your front line a release line and use the OR16 clip in the rear. This way fish hit the bait, front releases and the OR16 holds the board to the line, now your fighting the fish not the board. You can use the OR19 release but they are pricey, two years ago a buddy of mine fishes for stripers and he had, I think the company was called Silver Hord, they make the slickest release I ever saw, you have to make them fit your boards. I used a split ring maybe a 1” round and you wrap your line around this pin about 5-6 times and then it has a smaller pin where it snaps into and this is tension adjusted kinda like a dipsy diver, when a fish hits the front of the board is no longer hooked up its just held on the line with the OR16 best set up I ever used. It took a lot for me to say this but I guess that’s what this form is all about. Best part is they are like just say $10.00 a piece vs the offshore clip release. You can use braid or mono which I use braid, so this caught my attention right away. Look up silver horde sams release. It comes with all the makings for a down rigger release but use just the release itself.

  18. It won’t matter what color the line is and how many flags you put on your boards. The same thing will happen, some people are just oblivious to their surroundings and think because it’s a lake there are no rules or stipulations they need to be aware of!! Just drive around in this big oasis WFO no worries. Until the planer board line wraps around their dumb ass neck. Best to do all you can to try to prevent a accident, just to cover your own a$$.
  19. They got us out of a pickle more than once, like mentioned their staff is some of the nicest and informative staff I’ve met in the LakeO area.
  20. Well, this is how my brain works, the reels are your go to reels keep them at that, and use different #’s of leader to accept the species your after. I’m a walleye fisherman so stealth is main priority, so I use a long fluorocarbon leader, Second is your lead core is designed to operate on its own. They claim at 2.mph for every color of line it will sink 5 foot, so a 2 color will be in the 10ft depth area. So a diving device is not recommended with lead core. Lead core moves through the water column like a snake and this is why lead core lines are so productive. If you put a dipsy on it will just pull like a strait piece of wire and your defeats the main purpose of lead core. Buy yourself a duel purpose reel, that way if one idea doesn’t pan out you still have the reel capacity to do something else you might want to do or try.
  21. I replaced my planerboard reels two years ago with Amish spectra line 500lbs test and I ordered the 300ft spool and I tied one end to the apple tree and started marching over to the neighbors driveway, that’s 150ft then headed back to the apple tree tied it of at the same place. Grabbed the line found the center and cut in two. I like it it’s slippery and the releases slide down the line nice. My reels are even with the top so I have a good angle. Very pleased. So 500# pounds of strength and a 150 feet on each spool. My buddy tried the 500# braid and hated it he said when you reel them in the line cuts into the other line which make for a pain in the ass to leave the line out the next time, even creating a overloop till he’s got enough off the spool, kind of like a minor birds nest but fighting the board pulling also!!
  22. I think he was whaler, but he made up for on the rest of the pics with him in them. LOL absolutely awesome pic with the rat hanging out of browns mouth!! That’s cool nice job Rick.
  23. Yea that’s a beauty!! Looks real good, that’s a fish on my bucket list from LakeO. Caught smaller ones in Canada.
