  1. Holy crap!! Man that’s got to be gut wrenching!! who ever found this if it’s anyone with half a heart I would hope they return it. I would tend to believe thats a long shot, but still possible. One the other hand if a kid found it won’t be so promising... sorry to hear this, my heart goes out to you hopefully reclaiming your goods!!!
  2. Hey guys got a question and would appreciate all your advise no matter what you have as a caller, I know some of you have the Primos alpha caller, when Fox Pro came out with the Spit Fire and all those that have the same housing Fox Fire ect I bought the Spit fire. At the time there was not many good views for any of the Primose callers, as the were using a fm signal and all reviews were not good with the remote, working the unit. Now it sounds like they are top of the line caller, and my brother in law called last night saying they were on sale for $169.00 I assumed he ment Cabela’s but they don’t even handle primose anymore, besides that what caller are you guys using. The Fox Pro top of the line caller has really interesting things about the sounds that are so close to the same frequencies as a live dog. Then there this one on a tri-pod that rotates so the sound comes and goes as it rotates which is controlled by the remote, and their gig is all about mimicking the exact sound frequencies of a live dog and some sounds are recorded from a mouth call. I’m looking to upgrade my Fox Pro to a much louder unit, that’s the downfall of the single horn speakers, now that caller is $119.00. I turned it up all the way and couldn’t get a flock of crows to come in. I also do a lot of crow hunting and I still use my old Johnny Stewart’s caller thumbs down it will blow my Fox pro away. I always start off softly then gradually work up the volume, that’s not saying much if I have the Fox pro Spit fire. Thanks guys, I’d really like to hear all your callers and why you chose that caller, if I get one to come in within eyeball sight I’ll use mouth calls or just a simple hand held squeaker. If it comes in on a distress call, or it comes in on vocals I just turn down the caller, to create the curiosity kills the cat “dog” situation.. again thanks again. Pap.
  3. I don’t own a knife with Chinese steel, those that use knives for a living know this. Just like my business, the only people that don’t ask price are the antique guys because the Chinese don’t have a clue about 6 Volt Generators on a car built in the 20’s up till mid 60’s just the same as when true hands of butcher that knows the difference between a sharp knife that doesn’t hold and edge and a real knife that you can shave with and still hold an edge if cutting on a wooden butcher block or board. Most all my knives are homemade. My family were tradesmen, and they all had to have sharp knives, from butchers to barn builders, knives, chisels, drawknife, you name it. They all needed what your grandfather has to offer, they could sharpen their own tools, but after a while they need that precise angle put back on that tool. There are those guys out there that need your grandfathers tooling so don’t give it away.
  4. Yes indeed Todd that what I meant, and those that launched there in hip boots must have been related to the Jolly Green Giant, I didn’t know if I was going to make it with chestwaders, as it was up to that pocket in the front of fishing style chest waders. Lol this year I’ll bring up my little 12’fter use it like the cruise ships do, I believe there called tenders
  5. Like anything else you want to play, your gonna play!!!
  6. Thats what I was thinking, then just make a T out of 1/4 inch aluminum square stock, and wa-la ice fishing with s transom Mt. ducer. Drill hole in square stock. I’d keep the hold together screw and wing nut up so I can get the ducer if not totally below the ice or closer to it. Also I can tur the cross pieces inline with everything make for better storage??
  7. Cool pic yellow jacket, that’s what I usually get to shoot at, 1 maybe 2 times a year, if I’m lucky, gotta make’em count. I never get the buck grazing along head down. Cool picture. Now in the wood live on the scene, count points
  8. Are the ropes the nylon, with braided loops in them or the cotton and softer type line with loops braided in them?? how long are the dock lines??
  9. Well I wouldn’t expect anything less, if there’s big money involved, does this mean to get out the chest waders again. Missed out on some of the best eye fishing in a long time, till I realized it’s either boots or go home. The docks were fine, it was getting to the docks after parking the tow rig and trailer.
  10. Pretty cool!!
  11. Brrrr, next week mid 40’ssss January thaw coming??
  12. Thats fine, thanks for the reply back,
  13. Would you be willing to sell the Mojo separately??
  14. OOh BOY he’s precious, Like Les said above life will never be the same!! You’ll be so busy the first 3-4 months you won’t know how you ever did it. LOL. Best of times are yet to come!! Congrats to you and your wife!!! PAP.
  15. Do the lines have a braided loop on 1 end??
  16. My brother in law is headed out this weekend also, he was out for archery season. Man those deer had the most fat under the hide I ever saw. Will be interesting to see what the fat content is now after this hard winter, even though it’s early into the winter season.
  17. OH, I didn’t put it together as a hunt that was a organized hunt. I wish you the best. I have a funny story about a hunt that was 3 days only, and a winter storm came the night before than it gave freezing rain. Well my partner Danny had properties along the backside of a sand quarry. We needed to drive a good mile on a unkept road, then we walked another 1/2 mile or so on top the snow, the crust was thick. To make a long story short, nothing came and out to the blacktop road we go, get out to unlock the hubs, yea, no electric shift 4wd in those days, well we get up to 25-30 mph the truck shook so bad, and I couldn’t even hold on to the steering wheel, WTF?? Here the crust ripped all the wheel weights off, I had a 74 International Scout with the short bed, so 5mph we went to the nearest garage to get the front wheels balanced again. We still talk about that day and laugh like hell like we did that very day!! Good luck to all as its 2* here so it’s got to be way colder up there by you guys. BBrrrrr.
  18. Awesome story whaler, nice to see and hear mom stood her ground, and might have saved you a few$$$ from the vet. bill
  19. You have a good lady, I see lots of fishing photos and I think a hunting pic. That would be awesome if she would get that adventurous gig and go with ya!! You have to admit it sometimes stands the hair on your neck a few times till you get used to it, the vocals are kind of eerie sounding.
  20. Nope!! They won’t move in this wind. Save your energy for next week it’s supposed to get above freezing??? LOL when I see it I’ll believe it, but that first day, at dusk they will be on the move!! Oh yea I watched the vid again, aaah ya, that ain’t snow
  21. Ha, ha, yea I saw the snow fly just as soon as your shot fixed the Fox, can’t say that it wouldn’t happen to anyone else!! I know how the adrenaline gets the best of ya. I never got buck fever, but the very first coyote I successfully called in after countless attempts and to no avail, finally one came in and sat down in front of me maybe 50 yards. I couldn’t keep the crosshairs on it to save my life, my brother was saying softly shoot-shoot-then his safety clicked and we tag teamed this dog, and my shot had nothing to do with the kill.
  22. OOh I agree 100% with you!! When Beltzville freezes across at the preachers camp side the yotes will cross there, I’ve shot 2 of them right before they hit land, that was a few years back as the lake didn’t freeze all the way across last year. We had them howl on one side, we were on the other, that sucked “it wasn’t froze over” it’s to far to drive around and the chances of them being there are slim, but the water ways are still good corridors for yotes to travel. Hope your boys pull one off the ice, whaler1!!
  23. Streams that aren’t froze. LOL good luck!! They also serve as a good travel routs, all critters need water and if there’s a watering hole open that’s a perfect ambush point for the coyote. For the smaller critters the running water is warmer than the air they will hang out in those areas also, that’s only when we have such brutal cold. Keep both those areas in mind
  24. I sat in on a Dennis Kirk calling seminar, you guys have got a lot of his words working for you, the halos of your light is just as important as your set up. He said the Eastern coyote is much more of an intelligent critter your going to hunt in the NE. So far we all seem to be in the right with our ways. It only takes one mess up and that dog will go on high surveillance before he ambush another bunny. The next best shot at a coyote will be in the matting season, just like deer, humans, we all think with the wrong noodle so far this thread is really turning out to be a great thread!! Thanks to all!!
