  3. Totally awesome trip, this brings much joy seeing a family doing such a only being there and doing it, can really relate to the best time of your life type of a trip. My brother and I went on a simular hunt, so I can really relate to your trip. Those back strap pieces in the fry pan makes my mouth water just seeing that pic. Thanks for sharing your trip and awesome time and memories that no one can take away from you!! You will have the best of the meats to share with your family and freinds. Congrats to all who went on a trip of a lifetime..
  4. X3 on the Adventure Marine bracket, I did something a little differant. They give you all the dimensions, so I cut it out of cardboard and marked it out on 1/4" high grade aluminum cut it out and welded it together. Then I bolted a peice of pressure treated 2X6 to the inside for the tighting bolts have something to bite into. Then I painted it black, I have $50.00 into the plate if that. I also added a third bracket on the kicker side. My old 2stroke weighed 78#'s and my new kicker to me, it's a 2007 Mercury 15hp 4 stroke, only used 3 times and it shows, like brand new. That motor weighs 113 so a big difference that's why I added a extra bracket. It has worked flawlessly. !!! Best of luck to all. PAP
  5. Nice size deer, congrats!! on the shot to the heart!!
  6. Gottcha, thanks AGAIN for all the help!! By the way I love your profile pic.!!! Oh, yes I run 30# Power pro on all my rods with a fluro leaders. The Laurvick releases work fine with the braid, off the big boards, that's why I use them, plus I met the owner Mr Laurvick passed away and now his daughter runs the show. I bought a bunch of releases that looked good in the pic. But were complete junk when I got them, she gave me everything to repair them back to new!! Plus she gave me her personal phone# should I have any issues. I thought that was very kind of her.
  7. I read somewhere that the lake is going to be set at the original height of the lake, before frog lovers and the salamander huggers increased the level to.
  8. Laker, Are you talking about the original releases or the updated black snapper releases that made you lose you boards?? Steelydan yes I saw the flag with the differant springs, but some are priced at $10.00 others are $24.00, but I wonder what the quality of the $9.99 is that's quite a difference. The boards I ordered from Frank's outdoors has the whole set up for $69.00 a pair where cabelas's wants $125.00 a pair. what is the modification so they pull harder??
  9. Thanks Les, yes that's the way the guys did it that I was with and when I watch the fishing channel and there not F'n salt water fishing, there are a few shows that they are on the Great Lakes, "I Michigan", is one the other are on LakeO, they all do the same. Those on Erie they let the front release work and snag the back down, so when a fish hits the front releases and the board folds back and not fight the board. Also that's the way they came already, same price as just the lesser clips, they were have a sale for $67. a pair, I can't even buy the releases and the flag for the price they want for 1 board. I have one set here and I'm going to wait and see how these work before I buy the stuff for the set I already have. If I need to run them like you said there's no reason to spend the$$ for better releases!!?? Also what is this modified version, is it just moving the weights?? Thanks I looked on Blood Runs sight and the writing is so light I can't see it. Thanks again for all the help guys!!! Greatly appreciated PAP
  10. Well Todd that sounds like your off to a good start!! Off the subject how many feet from behind the cabin to the transome is there on the boat your selling.
  11. Thanks Les, I ordered 3 sets of the offshore boards. I got them from Frank's outdoors, they had the tattle tail flags, the OR19 regular release on the front, OR19 snap weight for the back, I might change the front out to the black snap release, I can't remember off the top of my head. This modification is just moving the weight to the very most front?? Am I correct??

    New boat.

You will need 2 one for each side. You will need trolling bags not drift socks, I would go with the 22" or the nest size up. I put the the rope on a cleat or something sturdy and make sure it doesnt reach the prop. I ran a rope from a cleat in the front to the stern, then put the rope through the front rope of the bag and the other end should be a loop thread the rope through there, tie off the bag in the rear so it can't reach the prop. And the front let down that just the top of the bag is even with the water. Now tie that off at the bag and the rope at the nearest cleat. Now your bag will be along side your boat, not under it and out of the prop. Any questions just call me and I'll try to help. PAP

    New boat.

I was told not to use a trolling plate, use bags if your not going with a kicker. The bags will act as ankers to hold the boat down in rough water. The trolling plates, I had them they might be alright for smaller motors, I had the best on mine it had a plate over the prop and hinged about 5/8 from the bottom. That was so if you forget to release the plate and go on the throttle it doesn't bend the plate all to hell. Mine is all bent to hell. Because I didn't release it myself asked the guys to release the plate, Yup we did after the hole shot to get on plane I know something isn't right!!?? They never released it properly, so there went a close to $200. Plus they put to much back pressure on the prop shims and will eventually cause failure to the lower unit. Bags are the way to fly. Best of luck and congrats to your new ride!! PAP

    LakeO EYES

    Say Whaaat?
  15. Hey there fish nut you got yourself a gold mine there
  16. Thanks, Kevin, I never really thought about the water temp being a factor in the gobies activities.
  17. Kevin did he mention anything about the lake walleye spawnings, just curious, for the most part the lake spawners are on the way out already, before the season opens. But if spawning habitats could be improved that would be something we all could get involved in. Keeping those damn gobies from destroying or eating the eggs would be a godsent!! Thanks for looking into this. PAP
  18. I know of a guy that put those motor mounted type on his boat, they were 36 volt with group 31. I was still in buisness for myself and I sold a Canadian made battery, extremely high cranking amps, that they need for the cold season. He used it on our home lake and was rather surprised at its performance and longevity. Took it up to LakeO and wasn't 100% happy but it served its purpose. Like mentioned above it depended on what Mother Nature threw at the lake!! BUT what he has in that electric system you could of put a kicker on and not have to carry battery chargers and extension cords. Plus remember you have to remove your series wires to charge the batteries. Very expensive VS. productivity.
  19. WOW from the looks of things, the man had a lot of good stuff. Boat look immaculate I don't personal think it was rotted transom, that must have hit something a tore a hole in the bottom. Still it shouldn't have gone to the bottom of the drink??
  20. Thanks Whaler, I find this hard to beleive that the whole works went down. I thought they were supposed to half orsh float no matter what. I tore a few boats apart and rearranged lounge seats to fishing type seats and the amount of foam in every little Nick and cranny they spray that shyt?? Something had to open up big time and fast to capsize a boat of that character to sink that fast let alone sink to the bottom.
  21. I had the same issues, I bought at cabelas's they had 1/4oz weights with a brass loop for attaching to line I bought a handful of them and slid them on my Laurvick releases and bingo they sail out towards the boards!!
  22. I owned a humming bird for years like 10 never gave me a problem, but it was time to update, I happened to fall into the time Lowrance was coming out with there hdi units. I did all kinds of research which at the time was mostly factory reports and of course they were all good and very persuasive!! So I bought a Elite7 HDI, the most money I ever spent on a single unit period!! I was very very disappointed to say the least. After how many calls to Lowrance with no help from them, I used it the way it was, freeze up shut off on its own would loose contact with satellites, and instructions that weren't worth the paper they were printed on!! As time went on they knew they needed to do something, so they put out free updates you could install and it did improve the units, I like mine now but as time goes on so does technology, today's units are already behind the eight ball. It would be a toss up between hummingbird and garmin, leaning towards the garmin's side. I fish walleyes, so my interest is DownScan, I want to know what the bottom looks like, if I'm not over a rocky bottom I'm not catching eyes, garmin's DownScan is the best I've seen in a lot of units. Certain units are bases on certain types of fishing. So knowing what you'll be fishing for say 90% of the time will help you choose the unit that suits your needs. Best of luck.
  23. Man talk about a punch to the face, you must be a very strong willed person!! Our higher believer doesn't take the weak, only the strong survive, not only here on earth but our afterlife. You have a more important job elsewhere. Man has become selfish to a point, believing that only life as we know it matters and others have become selfish also by thinking that you are being taken away from them. They must realize you are stronger than others and can serve better other than planet earth. You are very special and always remember your not done serving others, as they need you more at that given time, which no one will know but you. God bless you and your family. They shall not feel selfish, so you can continue to serve elsewhere, where you are needed more!! Thank you for what you have accomplished here on earth. We will always be with you in your new journey of life!!!
