  1. Welcome to our world Vince, that Cabela's store sucks!! I live 45 mins. away, and have been disappointed so many times I don't go there anymore!! At one time that's all I wanted for Father's Day and Christmas, was gift certificates, it took me almost 2 years to spend my gift certificates because they never have what I want. I ****ed to the fishing dept. manager he told me they only carry 1/3 of what's in the catalog!! WTFOver, they didn't have size 10-8 Spro swivels, no,#2 duo locks, no #2 red octopus hooks, this shyt hole might as well burn down!! Plus there're not cheap, as far as trolling gear . I'll drive 4 hrs. Into the mom & pop shops in NY. get waited on with respect, and if they don't have what you want they will refer you to their competition just to keep you happy, with no lines to wait in. I've bought more items off of here and your neck of the woods tackle shops. 1 other thing I noticed being up in the lake area shops, they carry what works, which might be off the wall for big box stores? A lot of the items that the shops around the lake is custom made!! Just off the the top of my head I think of Brian with his laker rigs, the rigger weights that the guys make. You guys don't know how lucky you really are, the lure makers, ect. Ect. I think you got a good tast of the Bullshyt the ordinary angler gets. Outside your world that all you lucky locals get to experience. I feel your pain Vince but you can aske any of the sellers on here and the winter seminars that are held on the east coast, I'm there. This year if I have to go myself I'll be at the big one on the west side. Thanks for posting that, now maybe others will believe me about Cabela's has nothing store
  2. Well, I wouldn't go that far, for one reason only Cannan been around many years but and has units out there that would work flawlessly if they still made parts for their products. I feel Cannon's a lot like Lowrance, after a few years they forget about their loyal customers!! "F' you Buy New" I feel this is their motto. So one looking for affordable riggers might buy a set of mag 10's and if you smoke a motor good luck!! Finding another! In this case I feel cannon not the best out there, another big thing is the touch pads, they go bad, they are very expensive. This new fast rigger is rediculous fast ask the the guys that lost probes due to the abrupt stop that caused people to loose probes and weights. Yes they are a great product but it's not a one rigger only deal out there, I have yet to hear as much shyt about Scotty's but I'm not sure they've been around long enough to forget the early buyers that got them where they are today. I have a set of mag 20's that I'm still getting used to the soft start then fly up like a mofo then stop at the water with my 16# weight and probe swinging in the breeze.
  3. If it were me I'm a cannon guy, I started with the crankers and it didn't take long to get a set of mag 10's I paid $350.00 for the pair, I searched on eBay, Craigslist, on here, finally I found the ones I have today yet. There was a set of cannons for sale on here not to long ago. Scotty's are good also, it's a Chevy vs. Ford like mentioned above. Hang in there in due time something will come about soon.
  4. For what species? For salmon that would be fine, in flurocarbon, if that's what your referring to. Some might say that's to light but that's what I use, after that I feel if your using a spoon the heavier line steals some of the action of the spoon, even the flies seem like they're not as free flowing. Again this is my personal thoughts.
  5. Yea I guess, mabe, not everyone is as spontaneous as we are?? Never thought about it that way
  6. Very good pieces of info in there. What's so surprising to me is outside of the lake area there's no talk about what's really going on around the lake?? Like nothing is on the news, outside of the state. If you don't see what's going on there is no way to describe what the locals of the area are going through!! Why isn't the U.S government involved, if there's a tornado somewhere it's on the news? I would be will to bet if you took all the devastation from one end to the other including Canada there's more square miles of destroyed property and even lost, gone for ever property damage as a tornado that makes the news. I don't get it as to why there's not more acknowledgement of this situation. If people wanted to visit, say Alexandria Bay and drove from southern Pa. and couldn't do what they planned on doing, I know I'd be more than pizzed off because I didn't know the situation?? Who's behind the hush-hush about this sad situation??
  7. Thanks for the heads up on the NK's spoons!! I know a lot of the crew one NE part of Lake'O. Would be very disappointed if they couldn't get there NK spoons. Including me

    Charter today

Totally Awesome man!! Great trip looks like it was a great time and a bunch of eyes to top off your day!! . PAP!! Was the guys in the pic the Capt or did you take another guys with ya??
  9. Nice assortment!! At fabulous price, I thought these were going to go fast at that price!!
  10. They were just starting during our trip on the 9th of June, our boards lines were getting a few and our leadcores were really bad, so I can imagine their getting into full swing with the surface temp climbing. When we started fishing the 9th of June the surface temp was 56* by Thursday it was pushing 68* we needed to move out to 50ft of water to find fish and the 30ft temp was 57*
  11. We took a ride over to MooseKnuckle's place hoping he'd be there but to no avail!! He has a beautiful place right on the water, even my 22ft cuddy goes in and out. I know this because my little nephew loves to catch boneheads and I was right up against his property!! Good luck with your sale!! I hope you stay in the area??
  12. Congrats Justin, nice fish!! pap
  13. TrophySeeker we fished Lake O'Sullivan for 20 plus years, haven't been back since our tear down at the border, on the American side we could of had a atomic bomb in the back. They asked how's the fishing? Could of been better, they just waved us through!! OK that was easy enough, since 911 and all this terrorist Bullshyt I'll stay in states!
  14. Yea, that's par for the case!! A little consistency just started, now Mother Natures going to stir the pot!!
  15. I realize this is a laker thread, but I saw a Linders Anglers show, they said any fish caught below 35ft won't survive is this the case? Excluding lakers as they are the few that have the ability to decompress.
  16. Not to over ride this post, but all the perch caught during our week fishing eyes on Lady'O were filled with gobies, back to the main subject.
  17. Only if you jump overboard and swim down and stand on the bottom while you wiggle your lure loose from the snag.
  18. I know one thing, the Ontario fish police don't know all the regs. they were going to fine the crap out of our group, because the Quebec provinces are differant than the Ontario provinces, finally they got their shyt together and let us go. The outfitters limit was 2 fish short of the provincial limit. Yet the goons at the border are clueless. We got stripped down to the bare metal on the way up, and plagued buy the fish police on the way home. It's a nice place Canada, I really miss our trips up there, the border cops need to focus on the other paraphernalia that's going over the border instead of picking on the millions of U.S. Dollars going to the outfitters, even they bytch about the Bullshyt they hear their clients are enduring just to get to their camp.
  19. If you go with a bigger sized battery you will notice a big difference in the batteries reserve alone. I use a group 31 strictly deep cycle battery that runs my electronics sub Moore 2 cannon mag 20's lowrance elite 7 in the back along with a hummingbird 727, tilted back to see what's going on at the bait, the hook 7 at the helm and a lowrance H20 for GPS speed that way I can have sonar and down scan at the helm. I have I have a 15hp Evenrude 2 stroke with no charging system. I have fished from 5:30am to 8:00pm and have yet to kill that group 31 battery. Maybe the newer units use more juice, but I use 7 different units off 1 battery. My starting battery is also a group 31 in a duel purpose battery.
  20. I did the same the same thing put it on the port side, and so was my batteries, which I failed to remember, which made it lean to the port side, I have 2 group 31 batteries. 1 is a duel purpose and the other is a strictly deep cycle battery, that operates all the electronics, they are heavy. So between the kicker which I have on the swim platform and the group 31 batteries, they way over weigh me. I ended up putting trim tabs on and I just set the port side 2 holes lower and that leveled everything up really nice. I used the hydraulic kind and they work nice.
  21. Sweet nice going Justin!! 8 boards out and land a nice tiger like that, quite the accomplishment!!! Good to see on the board Justin!! PAP.
  22. Yeah, so do the blacks been using this method for years. They slide right down to the ball. When the rigger is in the up mode just tap the release the cable pulls the toothpick right out, so simple!! Release falls down to the weight.
  23. 18"'s and limit it to 3. Then Onieda would be kick azz in a few years, I thought it was 18" anyway?
  24. Yeah or my leadcores. See what happens. Sent from my HTC Desire 610 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Your going to have to remove your terminal end of your rigger wire whether it's a haywire twist or a cannon type deal. Cut the wire loop off the release and run the cable through where the wire loop was then redo your terminal end back to the way you had it. Now the release is free floating on the wire, I use a piece of heavy fishing line tied and taped behind the boom roller, then I put a swivele on the end which I hook into the blacks release let out how much cable to where I want the release, open the release to free it from the so called holder, then I jam a toothpick in to pinch the cable in place. Then rig up your other pole, really jam the toothpick so you can get a nice bend in the rod. The longer the toothpick is is the water the tighter it gets. Sounds like it's a lot but it's not really.
