The EZ Steer is nice and cheaper than most others. BUT I have yet to be able to tilt the kicker up when you want to come in, without the rod binding so the kicker won't come to the lock position without removing the steer rod. I have an I/O. and a swimplatform.

Wow just did a search, never even heard of such a reel!! It amazes me as a parent the length we will go to get our kids out there with us. Congrats to you as a fathers stand point I see why it would aid him!!

Man I wish that unit was on the east coast, I have one that won't trim down motor runs. 1/2 the money to fix according to cmc. Worked sweet. That's a very good buy. If you don't see any $$$ in a few days I'll take it no questions asked and pay shipping!!!!

When it was stored, was the motor kept dry or was there some sort of antifreeze in the block??

Fishing with your kids builds a special bond between you and your children. That the best therapy there is for parent/children!! My daughters are still talking about our trip this summer. I just read that the time has come to either elect or appoint a new person who will be under Trumps thumb to be in with the Canadian Gov't about the newer water heights. It sounded like this new water height ordeal will be one of the top priorities. I'm not that well versed in the political end of things, but it sounded like the homeowners didn't want this lady appointed because the water level ordeal is what she is in favor for. It was a world news event. I can't say anymore as this is what my pea brain picked up on.

Definitely go with what we call a meat rig, whether it's a worm harness or a minnow harness they want to eat this time of the year. I troll spoons but always run a scent on a spoon a super slim, or a spoon size up to a size NK28 stay on the bigger size. Scatter rap has come out with a bigger bill for deeper approaches along with their erratic left and right action, my go to lure for eye is the Berkley Flicker Minnow in sizes 7-9. I fish the northeastern part of the lake so that's what works rather well for up here, I might add we use the inline yellow OffShore boards. 1.8-2.3mph at the ball. Some days slower but not often faster. Usually start out at 1.5 mph and do long easy right to left turns and hopefully pick one up on the faster side then bump the speed up to 1.8 and continue the long sweeping turns. The turns are programmed into my kickers auto steer, which is a sweet thing. Good luck guys for me this is the best time of the year for me.

I would look into Adventure Marine swimplatform brackets. They give you all the dimensions. You get what I'm saying. I personally would not hang my kicker on two pieces of steel and a 2x8 in between them. Your relying on the screws holding the 2x8 to the bracket.

What's max weight they will lift??

I run a 15hp Merc. If it won't hold course with the python auto steer which has the fastest full left to right swing which I can boost throttle to correct then I'm pulling rods and headed to a more fishable situation or calling it a day. After the last 2 year's of people passing due to inclement weather there is no fish worth someone's life or mine. This is JMO. As you get older different things seem to be more important in life as when I was younger.
